WEATHER: Overcast
TRACK RATING: Dead / Slow / Heavy
Moveable rail out 6 metres from the 850 to the 400 then 4 metres for the remainder.

RACE 1
QUEENSLAND RACEHORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION HANDICAP 1400 metres

As M. Paget was indisposed he was replaced on CREEPING by K. Pope.
MAGS which sustained an abrasion to the off hind en route to the course was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the event and passed fit to start
DUEL FUEL was slow to begin.
EXPLOSIVE LASS and FOLLOW THE ARROW made contact on jumping away.
Shortly after the start SELECTED SLAVE had to be steadied off the heels of MAGS when taken in by CAMEO VISION. Jockey Dean Tanti rider of CAMEO VISION was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.
Near he 900 metres EXPLOSIVE LASS shifted out abruptly taking FOLLOW THE ARROW out on to CREEPING.
When placed under pressure in the straight WESTERN ARMI was inclined to lay in.
BOLD AND BRASH was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 2
THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS QUEENSLAND ASSOCIATION HANDICAP 1000 metres

The start was delayed when LALIDRAMBA had to be resaddled.
DAVE’S ROCKET was slow to begin.
RUN TON TON and SIMPLE SIMON came together on jumping away.
On jumping away GO MUSIC GO was hampered between LALIDRAMBA and STEELY DAWN which shifted out.
Near the 900 metres GARFIELD’S GAL shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of RIGHTO.
Near the 600 metres GARFIELD’S GAL improved up on to the heels of RIGHTO and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 500 metres SIMPLE SIMON had to be steadied off the heels of GO MUSIC GO which shifted out.
LADY ARAMAC was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 3
HENDRA PRODUCE AGENCY HANDICAP 1300 metres

The explanation of trainer Kelso Wood was accepted for the reason COSMIC QUEST was declared a late scratching at 8.23am was accepted.
Shortly after the start ADJUSTED had to be steadied when tightened for room between IMPOSING SAL and EMMA READY both of which shifted ground.
A short distance later STALWART ZEPH and TIGHT LIPPED were both inconvenienced by BE ALERT which shifted in and away from IMPOSING SAL.
After passing the 1000 metres DAWN LANDING was hampered for some distance between STALWART ZEPH and GREAT EXPECTATIONS when the pace slackened.
BE ALERT refused to settle in the early stages and was forced to race wide for the remainder of the event.
ADJUSTED pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

RACE 4
THE RACEBOOK COMPANY HANDICAP 1300 metres

PALACE EDITION was slow to begin.

Following the running of Race 4 the track was downgraded to SLOW.

RACE 5
J F (JIM) McGILL HANDICAP 1000 metres

Trainer John Wallace was fined the sum of $50 for presenting CAPTAIN NEMO to the enclosure with the incorrect gear.
HOLDING PATTERN and CAPTAIN NEMO jumped away and made heavy contact.
MARCASITE and ORIENTAL PRINCESS came together on jumping away.
Approaching the 600 metres MANDA PANDA shifted out abruptly inconveniencing ACE CLUB and KINGDOR.

RACE 6
CHAIRMAN’S TRIBUTE HANDICAP 1200 metres
As J. Byrne was indisposed he was replaced on SYDANEE by L. Appo.
Due to the downgrading of the track to slow MISS JAKEO was declared a late scratching at 2.13pm.
After jumping away awkwardly SWIRLING STAR shifted out and made contact with DE CANNY.
SERENDIPITY SNIP and TRIVIAL PURSUITS were both tightened for room between PITCHIN’ WOO and RAPID WOMAN which shifted out on jumping way.
After leaving the 1000 metres SYDANEE refused to settle for some distance.
Near the 200 metres TRIVIAL PURSUITS had to be checked when tightened between GABRIELLE’S GIRL and the tiring PITCHIN’ WOO which shifted out.
Approaching the 400 metres TRAIL OF GOLD shifted out and made heavy contact with GABRIELLE’ S GIRL causing that filly to be hampered. As a result of this incident MARAUDING LASS was taken wider on the track. Jockey B. Stewart rider of TRAIL OF GOLD was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Following the running of Race 6 the track was downgraded to HEAVY.

RACE 7
L M (MERVYN) FOX MEMORIAL HANDICAP 1000 metres

Due to the downgrading of the track to slow following Race 4 SIR SINGLE was declared a late scratching at 2.44pm.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of BUTCH WESTON jockey S. Seamer stated that the gelding failed to handle the heavy track conditions.

On return to scale following the event both jockey K. Pope (ANOTHER POSSESSION) and apprentice Michael McDonald (IRISH BUNNY) were dislodged from their months.

RACE 8
QUEENSLAND THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS & OWNERS ASSOCIATION HANDICAP 1600 metres

Acting on Veterinary advice PRIDE OF THE TURF which was lame in the near fore was declared a late scratching at 11.54am.
Due to the downgrading of the track to slow following Race 4 HILLBILLY EXPRESS was declared a late scratching at 2.22pm.
Due to the downgrading of the track to heavy following Race 6 MAC’S SEATTLE was declared a late scratching at 3.39pm.

Race 8 Contd.
PLUMWAY and GREAT EXPORT were both slow to begin.
KENRICK pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.
Near the 200 metres HEART DANCER had to be steadied off the heels of STYLISH CHANEL which shifted in when tiring.





All winners were swabbed.
