GENERAL: Re adjourned inquiry – SCTC 15th July 2001.
The explanation of trainer Gary Rafter for the reason K. Bell was declared the rider of CLASSIC VERDICT when in fact the gelding was ridden by M. Rodd was accepted.

RACE 1
BITTER HANDICAP 1200 metres

Near the 700 metres ZEPHAUTHOR struck the heels of IT’S NOT LUCK.
Rounding the home turn SIGHTED shifted out to improve and made contact with BLUCHEETAH on two occasions.
A post race Veterinary examination of BLUCHEETAH revealed the filly to have general muscle soreness over the neck and back area.

RACE 2
XXXX GOLD HANDICAP 1600 metres

Shortly after the start MOET MISS had to be checked when tightened between DAWN LANDING and JUST CASSIDY which shifted out.

RACE 3
CASTLEMAINE PERKINS HANDICAP 1800 metres

STAR PACIFIC commenced to buck shortly after the start. Trainer Bill Thornton was advised that a barrier certificate must be obtained for STAR PACIFIC prior to its next race start.

RACE 4
XXXX HANDICAP 1300 metres

Trainer Peter Moody was fined the sum $50 for failing to declare a rider for HOT ASH SLAY by the required time.
UNIQUE was slow to begin.

RACE 5
HAHN PREMIUM LIGHT HANDICAP 1000 metres

SAHARA CHARM jumped away awkwardly hampering POWER AND EGO and RELEVANCE.
Trainer Garry Newham was advised that MUKANIC which bled from both nostrils will now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing.

RACE 6
XXXX SUNSHINE COAST GUINEAS HANDICAP 1600 metres

On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey D. Griffin rider of equal third placed THIS IS REAL against MAJOR FORCE ridden by jockey S. Katsidis being declared 2nd alleging interference in the early stages of the straight.
At a protest inquiry Stewards acknowledged that MAJOR FORCE had shifted in and made minor contact with THIS IS REAL however were of the belief that the amount of interference suffered did not warrant a reversal of placings and the protest was therefore dismissed.

Race 6 Contd..
CYPRESS LAKES jumped in at the start inconveniencing ZAMCAY.
ADMIRAL’S LASS and TRUMP OF COLOGNE made heavy contact on jumping away which resulted in C. Brown rider of ADMIRAL’S LASS becoming unbalanced.
LA TRIO was held up for clear running for some distance in the straight.
A post race Veterinary examination of CYPRESS LAKES failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7
SETTLERS COVE HOLIDAY RESORT GLASSHOUSE HANDICAP 1200 metres

The start was delayed when MISS ANNA LOUISE had to be re-saddled.
PLEASURE GIVER was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800 metres MAJOR VICTORY shifted out and made contact with OVER THE RANGE which was pulling hard.
Near the 100 metres VATULELE had to be steadied off the heels of FEDERAL AGENT when taken out by DASHING IMAGE.

RACE 8
HAHN PREMIUM HANDICAP 1400 metres

ELECTION DAY was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800 metres PERFECT AFFAIR commenced to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of CHARGAL.
Near the 400 metres CAPTAIN RHETT shifted out to improve and made contact with NADEED’S LIMIT which shifted out and brushed the hind quarters of COMET WAY causing NADEED’S LIMIT to become unbalanced. Jockey A. Cowie rider of CAPTAIN RHETT was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.





All winners plus MUKANIC (Race 5) were swabbed.
