TRACK RATING: Good
Moveable rail out 4.5 metres from the 850 to the 400 metres and 3 metres for the remainder.

Re: SCTC – 22nd July 2001: A Doctor’s certificate has now been produced stating the reason jockey J. Cerchi was indisposed on that date.

As. S. Shield was indisposed he was replaced as follows:

RACE 1
METROPOLITAN CALOUNDRA SURF CLUB ‘SUPPORTERS CLUB’ HANDICAP` 1400 metres

ROYAL DANEHILL was slow to begin.
DIAMOND IN DUBAI was tightened for room on jumping away between GET MOBILE and MY REDMAN both of which shifted ground.
After passing the 1300 metres DIAMOND IN DUBAI laid in and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of GET MOBILE.
K. Pope rider of DIAMOND IN DUBAI was reprimanded for returning to scale .35kg under his allotted weight.

RACE 2
ALAN MACKLIN TILE SOLUTIONS ‘SIRF RESCIE’ HANDICAP 1000 metres

IF IT FITS, APULLSA, COUNTRY CARAT and MR. COMEDY were all slow to begin.
CLANGER jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barriers. In this incident jockey K. Pope also made contact with the barriers and after being examined by the Club Doctor was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
Shortly after the start the saddle on IF IT FITS shifted to a point where N. Jolly had to take his feet out of the irons and was therefore placed at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
After passing the 900 metres IF IT FITS shifted out inconveniencing DANCING DIANA.
Approaching the 100 metres CLANGER shifted out under pressure and brushed YODELLER.
Jockey L. Deguara rider of BUCK WHAN was reprimanded for returning to scale .35kg under her allotted weight.

RACE 3
FUJI XEROX ‘YOUTH DEVELOPMENT’ HANDICAP 1200 metres

Trainer Ian O’Neill was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for YOUTHFUL by the required time.
OZZEL was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start VERSAILLES refused to settle and over raced for some distance.

RACE 4
NORTH COAST PLUMBING ‘IRB’ HANDICAP 1000 metres

As B. Swanton was indisposed he was replaced on COUNT IZON by J. Taylor.

Race 4 Contd..
KIMANI was declared a late scratching at 8.20am when the gelding was found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Paul Jenkins was advised a Veterinary certificate must be obtained for KIMANI prior to its next race start.
Acting on Veterinary advice POWER AND EGO was declared a late scratching at 12.47am. when the gelding was found to suffering from an allergic reaction which was affecting the blood circulation.
Trainer B. McLachlan was advised a Veterinary certificate must be obtained for POWER AND EGO prior to its next race start.
CAPANNELLE and COUNT IZON were both slow to begin.
Passing the 200 metres ROCKEDGE was inclined to shift in when being struck with the whip in the left hand necessitating apprentice D. Wheeler to change the whip to the right hand.
Over the concluding stages COUNT JESTER had to be steadied when tightened for room by THREATNER which shifted in. G. Duffy rider of THREATNER was reprimanded and advised that in future he must stop riding and straighten sooner than he did on this occasion.

RACE 5
P J BURNS (BUILDER) PTY LTD ‘SURF BOAT’ HANDICAP 1600 metres

Apprentice C. Eaton rider of SO EXCITED was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on a horse out of contention.

RACE 6
JOHN THURTELL PLASTERERS ‘NIPPERS’ HANDICAP 1600 metres

WE’RE RELATED was slow to begin.
G. Duffy rider of ENVISION was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift out taking SURPRISE ATTACK out on to the hind quarters of TONTEN causing SURPRISE ATTACK to be checked.
G. Duffy was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on 13th August 2001 and to expire at midnight on 26th August 2001.
When questioned over his riding tactics adopted on SHARMEEN STAR apprentice D. Wheeler stated he was trapped wide in the early stages of the event and the gelding refused to settle and he therefore had no option other than to go forward on SHARMEEN STAR. His explanation was noted.

RACE 7
SUNCOTTO ‘BOARD AND SKI’ HANDICAP 1200 metres

Trainer Darryl Ward was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for ASCOT BLUE by the required time.
BELL ROAD which was kicked behind the barriers prior to the event was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey A. Gillett rider of 5th place THE ANTS PANTS against STORMY BLUE ridden by apprentice D. Wheeler being declared 4th alleging interference over the last 100 metres.
At a protest inquiry it was found that after passing the 100 metres THE ANTS PANTS had to be checked when tightened for room between BELL ROAD and STORMY BLUE which shifted in. Stewards however were of the opinion that the amount of ground lost by THE ANTS PANTS in this incident did not warrant a reversal of placings and for this reason the protest was dismissed.
Apprentice D. Wheeler rider of STORMY BLUE pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in and continued to do so causing THE ANTS PANTS to be checked when tightened for room between BELL ROAD and STORMY BLUE..
Apprentice D. Wheeler was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence at midnight on August 15th 2001 and to expire at midnight on 26th August 2001.
After being slow to begin STORMY BLUE refused to settle and was forced to race wide throughout the event.
L. Deguara rider of BELL ROAD accidentally dropped her whip near the 200 metres.

RACE 8
MARCOTTA ‘MASTERS’ HANDICAP 1600 metres

LOGIES and ORMOLU were both slow to begin.
PIANO LADY shifted out rounding the home turn and brushed COMMENDABLE.
DR. CILENTO was held up for clear running prior to the 600 metres until approaching the 100 metres.
At the 100 metres MATELOT shifted in under pressure and brushed ORMOLU.


All winners plus DIAMOND IN DUBAI (Race 1), MR. COMEDY (Race 2) and OVERSLADE LANE (Race 8) were swabbed.
