GENERAL: Apprentice R. McDonald was fined the sum of $50 for smoking in a non designated area.
RACE 1
NASKAM SECURITY HANDICAP 1000 metres
After breaking through the barriers on two occasions prior to the start being effected PEDRO’S GIRL was examined by the club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
CARRIBEAN BENNY was slow to begin.
KIMBERLEY COOL jumped out at the start and made contact with RAW EMOTION.
RAW RECRUIT jumped away awkwardly.
Making the home turn MAIZCAY STAR shifted away from the running rail and made contact with PEDRO’S GIRL.
Jockey J. Stanley rider of PEKAN LADY accidentally dropped his whip at the entrance to the straight.
Inside the 200 metres CANYON CREST shifted out and hampered MAIZCAY STAR.
HELEN’S BROTHER and PEKAN LADY both raced wide throughout the event.
RACE 2
ACACIA REALTY HANDICAP 1200 metres
FRAMEWORTHY was slow to begin.
SALIENT PRINCE pulled hard in the early stages of the event.
Approaching the home turn SALIENT PRINCE became unbalanced when bumped by IRON ORE.
NORTHERN LANCER which was following shifted out to avoid the heels of SALIENT PRINCE and in doing so made contact with CHIEF’S TREASURE.
For some distance in the early stages of the straight NORTHERN LANCER continued to shift out to improve from behind the heels of IRON ORE and in doing so made contract with CHIEF’S TREASURE.
RACE 3
SUNSHINE COAST DAILY HANDICAP 1000 metres
DORZEY which was kicked behind the barriers prior to the event was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
Shortly after the start JUST COUNTY had to be checked when tightened for room between DANZIP which was taken out by WHIZCAT and RORY’S TYCOON which shifted in.
MY TRUE NORTH hung out over the concluding stages.
JUST COUNTY was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 4
CREDIT MANAGEMENT GROUP HANDICAP 1800 metres
Shortly after the start HERE BE DRAGONS clipped the heels of SENJ which was taken out by ORIGIN WARRIOR.
Approaching the 1600 metres HENRY THE FRUITBAT which was pulling hard, had to be restrained off the heels of ORIGIN WARRIOR.
When pulling hard near the 1300 metres STARK RAIDER had to be checked off the heels of SENJ.
Near the 800 metres STARK RAIDER which commenced to weaken, shifted out and made contact with NOBLE DISTINCTION forcing that gelding wider on the track.

Shortly after entering the straight ORIGIN WARRIOR shifted out taking HENRY THE FRUITBAT wider on the track inconveniencing MANIFEST.
Trainer Rodney Loggie was advised that the nomination for STARK RAIDER would be refused in provincial areas after the gelding finished a distant last in this event.
RACE 5
JOHN WILSON & PARTNERS HANDICAP 1200 metres
On jumping away WEST WARD shifted out and made contact with SPY KING.
Near the 600 metres ANOTHER POSSESSION shifted out to improve and forced MARINER’S REACH and SPY KING wider on the track.
WEST WARD shifted ground under pressure in the straight.
Jockey K. Pope reported that SOVEREIGN FLAME hung out in the straight and he was unable to test the gelding. Trainer T. Miller was advised a warning has been placed on SOVEREIGN FLAME regarding its racing manners.
RACE 6
HONG KONG TOURISM BOARD PLATE 1200 metres
AYNSLEY GOLD jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with STEAL A MARCH.
TOP GIRL shifted out abruptly on jumping away taking MAXIMUS EQUUS out on to the hind quarters of CRAIGLEA FAME which brushed HIDDEN VALLEY which was taken out on to the hind quarters of SEA LILY.
A short distance later AYNSLEY GOLD shifted out and made contact with STEAL A MARCH which resulted in TOP GIRL being checked to avoid the heels of STEAL A MARCH.
At the same stage heavy contact was made between MAXIMUS EQUUS and CRAIGLEA FAME and as a result HIDDEN VALLEY struck the heels of CRAIGLEA FAME almost dislodging K. Pope rider of HIDDEN VALLEY. As a result of this incident K. Pope’s foot was dislodged from the near side stirrup iron which he regained near the 600 metres..
When being restrained off the heels of AYNSLEY GOLD in the early stages CRAZY COTTON was inclined to race fiercely.
Close to the line MANPOZEST had to be restrained off the heels of SEA LILY which shifted in.
RACE 7
WIDOWMAKER RACE ENGINERS & SPEED SHOP HANDICAP 1300 metres
CAPE SCHANCK was slow to begin.
Near the 900 metres FAITH TAKES ALL shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of LEG IRONS resulting in a tightening to JUST KISTA, MURRIAH and CLANGER. As a result of this tightening CLANGER over reacted and made heavy contact with the running rail dislodging its rider K. Pope. LORD LARKSPUR which was following had to be checked to avoid the fallen rider and CAPE SCHANCK had to shift out abruptly to avoid LORD LARKSPUR.
After taking evidence and viewing the official video Stewards took no action as they were of the opinion that the incident was attributed to the racing manners of CLANGER.
Near the 700 metres NATIVE WELLS had to be checked off the heels of DOOLIN and in doing so shifted in hampering CAPE SCHANCK.
A post race Veterinary examination of CLANGER revealed the gelding had sustained deep lacerations to the off foreleg.
RACE 8
CALOUNDRA POWERBOAT CLUB HANDICAP 1600 metres
Trainer B. McLachlan was fined the sum of $25 for presenting STARLINE TALENT in the enclosure without blinkers.
BLETCHMORE jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of QUIN THE ESKIMO jockey L. Deguara stated that the gelding did not travel well throughout the event and was under pressure prior to the home turn.
Trainer Mr. K. Kearney indicated that the gelding had worked well leading up to today’s event but advised QUIN THE ESKIMO would be immediately spelled.
A post race Veterinary examination of QUIN THE ESKIMO failed to revel any abnormality.
All winners plus QUIN THE ESKIMO (Race 8) were swabbed.
