STEWARDS PANEL: Mr G Ireland (Chairman), Mr C Clifford, Mr D Collingwood, Mr W Geggie, Mr C Ferguson (Cadet)
WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD
GENERAL: As apprentice M. Dracos was indisposed the following riding replacements were approved: Race 2 – GANGREL – C. Eaton, Race 3 – MARKET WATCH – M. McDonald, Race 5 – SO RADICAL – P. Hammersley.
RACE 1: BRACKEN RIDGE TAVERN PLATE – 1000M.
Acting on Veterinary advice SUMMIT CITY was declared a late scratching at
12.28pm after the gelding became fractious in the barriers.
On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SUMMIT CITY be refunded with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar for the win and 8 cents in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.
Trainer Barry Miller was advised a further barrier certificate must be obtained for SUMMIT CITY prior to its next race start.
BODGIE’S REGRET jumped away awkwardly.
MAGICAL EYES and OUTBACK OPUS made contact on jumping away.
ENCORE’S FOLLY was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 2: KOASTAL TRENZ HANDICAP – 1400M.
Jockey M. Williamson was fined the sum of $50 for sending the incorrect saddle cloth number out for EWANJO.
Trainer Shaun Dwyer was also fined the sum of $50 for presenting EWANJO to the enclosure with the incorrect saddle cloth number.
After jumping away awkwardly GANGREL shifted out and made contact with TAG AND RELEASE.
Near the 1000 metres BLAZING SHARI had to be steadied off the heels of ATEOKTAS which shifted in.
After passing the 1000 metres KING TUG and BLAZING SHARI were tightened for room by EWANJO which shifted in. M. Williamson rider of EWANJO reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

On straightening BLAZING SHARI shifted out to improve and made contact with KING TUG on several occasions. M. Carson rider of BLAZING SHARI was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
A short distance later WICKED WOMAN shifted out to improve resulting in BLAZING SHARI having to be steadied and lost ground. Apprentice B. Albuino rider of WICKED WOMAN was advised to exercise more care in future.
Over the concluding stages WICKED WOMAN shifted out under pressure taking EWANJO wider on the track. Apprentice B. Albuino rider of WICKED WOMAN was advised he must stop riding and straighten his mount when shifting ground in future.
GANGREL was forced to race wide throughout the event and when placed under pressure in the straight was inclined to shift out.
ATEOKTAS lost the off hind plate during the event.
RACE 3: PLACE MAT SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES HANDICAP – 1400M.
REMEMBER BOB was slow to begin.
When the pace slackened approaching the 900 metres MARKET WATCH had to be steadied off the heels of POP WILL and shifted out abruptly making contact with ZING ZING BOOM.
Making the 800 metres turn BELLEN GIRL was inclined to hang out. REMEMBER BOB which was racing to the outside had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BELLEN GIRL.
BELLEN GIRL continued to hang out and passing the 600 metres shifted out and made contact with MARKET WATCH.
Trainer Lance Gray was advised that BELLEN GIRL must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
On straightening REMEMBER BOB shifted out to improve and inconvenienced ZING ZING BOOM.
Passing the 200 metres MARKET WATCH shifted in under pressure and brushed BELLEN GIRL.
RACE 4: EMPLOYMENT NATIONAL HANDICAP – 1600M.
On jumping away GLENTARKIE shifted out taking WAIKARI GIRL, ALL CRAFTY and BROEENE out on to EDINBURGH CASTLE which had to be steadied off the heels of BETHEL.

When being steadied shortly after the start MISS BENING commenced to over race and a short distance later SCALLION shifted in and brushed MISS BENING.
ALL CRAFTY was inclined to over race in the early stages of the event and near the 1200 metres had to be checked off the heels of GLENTARKIE.
GOLDIE’S SON was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
Near the 400 metres QUEEN OF VIOLINS was tightened for room between MISS BENING which shifted in slightly and BROEENE which shifted out to improve. Apprentice M. Rodd rider of BROEENE was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SCALLION jockey L. Appo stated that the gelding was making a respiratory noise from after leaving the 1200 metres until pulling up.
A post race Veterinary examination of SCALLION which compounded badly in the straight failed to reveal any abnormality however trainer Ian O’Neill stated he would have the gelding scoped and would also produce a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next race start.
RACE 5: KAWANA WATERS BOWLS CLUB INC. HANDICAP – 1600M.
Apprentice M. Rice rider of BUSTER JONES pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift in causing PACIFIC LANE to be checked. M. Rice was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence at midnight on Thursday 4th July 2002 and to expire at midnight on Wednesday 17th July 2002.
Passing the 200 metres M. Rice rider of BUSTER JONES lost control of his off side rein.
RACE 6: PITCHERS HOSPITALITY SUPPLIES HANDICAP – 1200M.
After breaking through the barriers prior to the event ALANOR KING was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.
After jumping away awkwardly ALANOR KING shifted in hampering SCORE A CENTURY.
Apprentice M. McDonald rider of ALANOR KING was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1100 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to keep his mount from shifting in which resulted in MIGHTY CROSSING being hampered and BLAZABELLE having to be checked and lose its position.
Apprentice M. McDonald was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday 3rd July, 2002 and to expire at midnight on Sunday 14th July 2002.

Rounding the 800 metres turn GIFT FROM ABOVE shifted in and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. MIGHTY CROSSING which was racing to the outside of GIFT FROM ABOVE was taken wider on the track.
RACE 7: THE MOORINGS CAFÉ HANDICAP – 1400M.
ST. MALO and JUST CASSIDY were both slow to begin.
Near the 700 metres CENZARINA improved up on to the heels of TENBY SOMETHING and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 600 metres JUST CASSIDY improved up on to the heels of FOLLOW THE MAESTRO and had to be steadied.
ST. MALO was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 8: BRAGGS SIGNS HANDICAP – 1000M.
As CIARA became fractious in the race day stalls when being saddled Stewards gave permission for CIARA to race without the tongue tie.
On jumping away PRIDE OF PYRMONT was tightened for room between JACK’S ROSE and ZEDALITY both of which shifted ground.
MISS ASTUR was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
Approaching the 700 metres CIARA had to be checked when tightened for room by JED ENOCH which shifted in and away from MISS ASTUR. In this incident NYLA MOA which was racing to the inside of CIARA shifted out slightly and compounded this incident however nonetheless C. Whiteley rider of MISS ASTUR was severely reprimanded and advised he must be fully clear when shifting ground in future.
A short distance later JED ENOCH was tightened for room between MISS ASTUR and NYL MOA both of which shifted ground.
ZEDALITY and MISS ASTUR came together near the 150 metres when tightened for room between CIARA which shifted out and JACK’S ROSE which shifted in under pressure.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
