SCTC STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 03/11/02

WEATHER: Fine TRACK RATING: Good

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr W Birch (Chairman), Mr A Reardon, Mr D Collingwood, Mr W Flynn, Mr C Ferguson (Cadet).

GENERAL: As P Lindeberg was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 3 BISCAWIN R Hancock
Race 4 JOHNNY TRISTRAM J Hoopert
Race 5 BROAD GRIN R Hancock

RACE 1: SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS HANDICAP – 1400M.

As the gates were released RISING SUCCESS lifted its off hind leg and as a result lost considerable ground.

After leaving the 1200 metres ATEOKTAS had to be steadied off the heels of RAYMONDS REWARD which was taken in by BARSHALLAH.

Approaching to the 1000 metres ATEOKTAS began to race ungenerously and shifted out.

Approaching the 600 metres ATEOKTAS shifted in and made heavy contact with SKILFUL RULER which in turn made contact with the hind quarters of RAYMONDS REWARD.

DUST IN TIME was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

After leaving the 200 metres DUST IN TIME attempted a narrow run to the inside of BARSHALLAH and approaching the 100 metres the filly was hampered when BARSHALLAH shifted in slightly.

RACE 2: NATIONWIDE CRANE HIRE HANDICAP – 1600M.

Shortly after the start TAYLA’S GOLD shifted out and made contact with MARKET MAN.

Approaching the 1200 metres TOLGA DAN and HOPE STREET tended to over race.

FLEETWITH pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 800 metres ROYAL BOX shifted out taking SMART DANCER wider on the track.

Shortly after SMART DANCER shifted in resulting in TOLGA DAN having to be steadied off the heels of that horse.

At the 100 metres SMART DANCER had to be steadied off the heels of HOPE STREET which shifted out.

RACE 3: BARTERCARD SUNSHINE COAST PLATE – 1200M.

JACKMOR jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the hind quarters of SPORT STAR. Shortly after JACKMOR shifted out and made heavy contact with EAT ‘N’ RUN and lost considerable ground.

HIGH POWER jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with PANAGIA which in turn shifted in and bumped BISCAWIN.

After leaving the 800 metres FLYING BOOGIE had to be steadied off the heels of BLUES TALKING which shifted in slightly. PANAGIA which was following shifted in and made contact with the running rail and lost ground resulting in JACKMOR having to be steadied to avoid that horse’s heels.

When tiring approaching the 700 metres PARAGINI shifted in resulting in SPORT STAR making contact with the running rail and having to be checked.

JACKMOR commenced to hang out leaving the 700 metres.

Approaching the 400 metres HABITUE shifted in slightly tightening the running of FLYING BOOGIE and JACKMOR. Shortly after FLYING BOOGIE continued to shift in resulting in JACKMOR being further tightened and making heavy contact with the running rail. JACKMOR then shifted out making heavy contact with FLYING BOOGIE which shifted out causing EAT ‘N’ RUN to be checked.

Apprentice R Hurley rider of JACKMOR was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that leaving the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of FLYING BOOGIE resulting in that filly having to be checked.
Apprentice Hurley was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence at midnight on Tuesday 5th November 2002 and to expire at midnight on Saturday 16th November 2002.

RACE 4: CLIPSTAR PLASTERERS HANDICAP – 1000M.

TELEGRAND jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 800 metres ARCTIC SNOW improved up on to the heels of SANSTER and had to be steadied.

Approaching the 400 metres SOLEMNITY shifted in and away from ARCTIC SNOW resulting in JOHNNY TRISTRAM being tightened on to the running rail.

Leaving the 400 metres SOLEMNITY shifted out to obtain clear running and made contact with ARCTIC SNOW.

TRENDY TIME lost the off hind plate during the event.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ARCTIC SNOW jockey G Colless stated that after being only fairly away the gelding travelled well however after making contact with SOLEMNITY leaving the 400 metres the gelding failed to run on in the straight and in his opinion was very disappointing.
A post race Veterinary examination of ARCTIC SNOW revealed the gelding had sprung the off front plate and as a result showed a slight degree of lameness.

RACE 5: SPINA BIFIDA QUEENSLAND HANDICAP – 1400M.

SUPER BELLE jumped away awkwardly and made contact with MACGNOME.

A post race Veterinary examination of CINAMAN revealed the colt to be slightly sore in its action as a result of probable hoof soreness.

RACE 6: STARTRAX KARAOKE CLASSIC HANDICAP – 1200M.

Trainer Tony Webb was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for OURS by the required time.

RED INTRO and MOOKATAN were both slow to begin.

Leaving the 700 metres MOOKATAN brushed the running rail.

RACE 7: DENMAC PLUMBING HANDICAP – 1300M.

Trainer T Miller was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for LUCKY ACE by the required time.

As apprentice D Gay failed to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement on FLYING FEET he was replaced by apprentice C Eaton.

SPONGE BOB was slow to begin.

After leaving the 1000 metres KILLED THE CAT shifted in tightening the running of DECORAIGH, PRIDE OF PYRMONT and SPONGE BOB.

JUST THE DROP hung out rounding the home turn.












RACE 8: HYDROCEPHALUS AWARENESS HANDICAP – 1600M.

LADY ON A MISSION which galloped for some distance during the preliminary, was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

At the start SAGIT HERO made contact with the hind quarters of DASHING HERB.

When steadying off the heels of BANNING’S PAGE approaching the 1200 metres QUAVI shifted out forcing JOYOUS wider on the track.

DASHING HERB pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

BANNING’S PAGE shifted out under pressure in the straight.





ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
