GENERAL: As N Jolly was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 2 DISPORTS J Stanley
Race 5 SEND A SUB M Bennett
RACE 1: COLEMAN D RAINAGE HANDICAP - 1200M.
OLD SCOTCH reared as the gates were released and lost considerable ground.
After jumping away awkwardly GOLD 'N' LOVE shifted out and made contact with DON PICCOLO.
A short distance after the start THEATRE ROSE shifted out and brushed REMEMBER ROBIN.
A post race Veterinary examination of OLD SCOTCH failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 2: COCA-COLA HANDICAP - 1600M.
ANNIE THE BRAVE and DISPORTS were both slow to begin.
Shortly after the start BACK ON THE INSIDE shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of ILLANDO.
Near the 1400 metres DISPORTS was momentarily tightened for room between CATCH STEVE and NHULUNBUY which shifted in.
Near the 1200 metres DISPORTS was inclined to hang in resulting in NHULUNBUY having to be steadied.
In the middle stages of the event DISPORTS was forced to race wide until approaching the 700 metres.
Near the 800 metres GOLD REACTION broke down in the off fore fetlock and was euthanased on humane grounds.
Trainer Geoff Burns was advised that CLOLEFIN which bled during the event will now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing.
CLOLEFIN was sent to be swabbed.
RACE 3: CALOUNDRA RSL HANDICAP - 1000M.
NORTH KEYS jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with ROIALTE and COSDEL LANE.
SAYURI SAN which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start by NORTH KEYS which shifted out abruptly.
NORTH KEYS was inclined to over race in the early stages of the event.
Shortly after entering the straight SAYURI SAN shifted out and continued to do so for some distance when placed under pressure.
Apprentice C Lloyd rider of SAYURI SAN was reprimanded for continuing to use the whip on a filly which was shifting ground under pressure.
Trainer John Symons was advised SAYURI SAN must pass an official barrier trail prior to its next race start.
Jockey W. J. Cook and trainer J Wallace's representative Mr Richard Foster were questioned over the riding tactics adopted on NORTH KEYS. After viewing the video and taking evidence from both parties the inquiry was adjourned until a date to be fixed when Mr Wallace is able to be present.
A post race Veterinary examination of NORTH KEYS failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
RACE 4: XXXX HANDICAP - 1600M.
ARNAULT was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start ROAD TO SEA and BARESQUE were both tightened for room between STEAL A MARCH and WHISKEY ON ICE both of which shifted ground.
ARNAULT was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 5: REED PROPERTY GROUP HANDICAP - 1300M.
As M Smith-Lester was indisposed he was replaced on TOUGH SWORD by J Stanley.
TRENCHER and SEND A SUB were both a little slow to begin.
RACE 6: YALUMBA WINES HANDICAP - 1000M.
As apprentice L Fitzsimmons was indisposed he was replaced on FLYING ON by apprentice B Albuino.
GO CRAZY was slow to begin.
Acting on Veterinary advice ROJAH SILVER was declared a late scratching at 3.31pm after the filly threw itself over after becoming fractious in the barriers.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on ROJAH SILVER were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 10c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 10c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer N Flouskos was advised a further barrier test certificate must be obtained for ROJAH SILVER prior to its next race start.
RACE 7: PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP - 1400M.
Trainer John Wallace was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for CAP JUAN by the required time.
THE GREY TIGER, DON'T WORRY and JOY OF FLIGHT were all slow to begin.
Rounding the home turn REAL IMPRESSIVE improved up on to the heels of SINGIN 'N' DANCIN causing that filly to be checked.
THE GREY TIGER was held up for clear running in the straight until after passing the 300 metres.
RACE 8: COLEMAN DRAINAGE HANDICAP - 1400M.
As jockey D Green was stood down by the Club Doctor following his ride in race 3 he was replaced on NAPOLEON'S CURSE by jockey W. J. Cook.
WESTMINSTER HALL was slow to begin.
After being a little slow to begin FRENCH LA REV was hampered shortly after between NAPOLEON'S CURSE and YODELLING DIXIE both of which were tightened by CARAHILL which shifted in.
Approaching the 900 metres JUST A HOOT shifted in and made contact with REALIGN.
Rounding the 800 metres turn JUST A HOOT shifted out and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of WESTMINSTER HALL.
Shortly after entering the straight MAJESTIC THEATRE shifted out resulting in REALIGN, DIAMOND LASS and YODELLING DIXIE all wider on the track.
Leaving the 200 metres MAJESTIC THEATRE shifted out abruptly when being struck with the whip.
After passing the 100 metres FASCINATIONS shifted out abruptly resulting in LOADED VICE having to be steadied.
All winners plus CLOLEFIN (Race 2) were sent to be swabbed.
