S.C.T.C. STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 29/06/03

PANEL: Mr C McLune (Chairman), Mr D Collingwood, Mr W Birch, Mr W Geggie.

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Good

GENERAL: Apprentice Z Purton was reprimanded for failing to provide a letter of authority. Z Purton was also put on notice and given a direction by Stewards that failure to present his letter at his next riding venues fines may be imposed.

RACE 1: BARTERCARD SUNSHINE COAST HANDICAP - 1200M.

The explanation of Trainer B Bowditch for failing to notify apprentice M Rice as the rider of SPRAYSCAY by the required time was accepted.

TRAVEMONDE was severely hampered at the start between KELTATT'S GEM which shifted out and VICTORY'S RULE which shifted in abruptly.

ASFLORA and SPRAYSCAY were cramped for room at the start between PEARL OF SANTOS and FULMINEO both of which shifted ground.

Rounding the home turn KELTATT'S GEM was inclined to lay out taking SPRAYSCAY wider on the track.

When attempting a narrow run between PEARL OF SANTOS and FULMINEO approaching the 200 metres NEUROLOGY shifted out abruptly and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FULMINEO. As a result TRAVEMONDE which was following had to be steadied.

NEUROLOGY continued to shift out and made contact with the hind quarters of CENTRO MAGIC which resulted in that runner becoming unbalanced.

At the 100 metres TRAVEMONDE was momentarily inconvenienced between ASFLORA and CENTRO MAGIC which shifted in under pressure.

RACE 2: THE MAGAZINE PUBLISHING COMPANY HANDICAP - 1000M.

MYARBEE, RECORD BREAKER, HAVE NO FEAR and AILEMA were all hampered on jumping away between COUNTRY PACK and RAPID VICTORY which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider D Ballard.

SHEOAKS was inconvenienced shortly after the start between LUSKIN'S RISING which shifted in and JOEKEN which shifted out.

Rounding the turn MYARBEE improved up on to the heels of SHEOAKS and had to be steadied.

CLIQUE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.



RACE 3: WWW.IMPANDEX COM WONDER PRODUCTS HANDICAP - 1400M.

Due to transport difficulties apprentice Dallas Van Bekkum was replaced on AUSSIE SHEILA (Race 3) by A Best and on OFFICE GOSSIP (Race 4) by K Cunningham.

Acting on Veterinary advice GOLD 'N' LOVE was declared a late scratching at 1.37pm when the mare was found to be lame in the off foreleg.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on GOLD 'N' LOVE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 4c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 5c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer M Mair was advised a Veterinary clearance must be obtained for GOLD 'N' LOVE prior to its next race start.

GO BILLY was slow to begin.

After passing the 1200 metres CYRIL'S DERBY commenced to race ungenerously and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RETRIBUTION.

Apprentice A Best rider of AUSSIE SHEILA accidentally dropped his whip near the 100 metres.

RACE 4: GROW BUSINESS GROW HANDICAP - 1200M.

OUR DONNY BOY shifted out abruptly at the start and made contact with COSDEL LANE. As a result OUR DONNY BOY then shifted back in cramping the room of CHANCY LAD.

G Baker rider of ZOFFEE TOFFEE accidentally dropped his whip passing the 900 metres.

LA LA LAND was unable to obtain clear running after rounding the home turn until the 300 metres. In an endeavour to obtain clear running LA LA LAND shifted out and made contact with SINS OF THE MIND which resulted in both horses becoming inconvenienced.

Approaching the 100 metres CHANCY LAD was inclined to shift out under pressure and passing the 50 metres shifted in abruptly almost dislodging its rider Robert Morris..
Trainer Rita Magnussen was advised a warning has been placed on CHANCY LAD regarding its racing manners.

RACE 5: CHARACTERS OF WOOMBYE HANDICAP - 1200M.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by John Powell rider of 3rd placed COUNT COMET against NATURAL SPIRIT ridden by Michael Rodd being declared 1st alleging interference inside the 200 metres.
At a protest inquiry it was established that at a point inside the 200 metres COUNT COMET laid out across the heels of NATIONAL SPIRIT momentarily inconveniencing COUNT COMET. Stewards deemed that as NATIONAL SPIRIT did not contribute to the inconvenience in any way the objection was dismissed and correct weight was semaphored.

IMPORTED PRINCE was slow to begin.

NATIONAL SPIRIT shifted in at the start hampering both KOBI COVE and DON'T SAY GOODBYE.

COUNT COMET was inclined to lay out approaching the first turn.

RACE 6: VIBES @ MOOLOOLABA HANDICAP - 1000M.

Apprentice M Spriggs rider of SLIVER BELLS was fined the sum of $50 for weighing out with the wrong saddle cloth number.

Trainer M Brosnan was fined the sum of $50 for presenting SILVER BELLS to the enclosure with the wrong saddle cloth number.

PRINCE ERROL which was fractious in the barriers, reared and lost ground at the start.
Trainer J Symons representative Mr G Dixon was advised a warning has been placed on PRINCE ERROL regarding its barrier manners.

At the 600 metres PRINCE ERROL and ROIALTE, which when racing greenly, made contact and as a result ROIALTE shifted out abruptly taking FELIX THE MAN across the heels of SILICA. In this incident FELIX THE MAN clipped the heels of SILICA almost dislodging its rider M Rodd.

RACE 7: HAIR & BODY TREATS HANDICAP - 1800M.

DUBLINER was slow to begin.

Approaching the first turn VIZANARI had to be restrained off the heels of SAMMY after improving up on to the heels of that runner.

DUBLINER was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of ARTIQUE trainer I O'Neill stated that at the gelding's most recent run on the 14th June 2003 at Nanango it was unable to lead which in his opinion does not suit ARTIQUE. He also added he felt that the hard surface at Nanango that day was not to the gelding's liking.
Mr O'Neill further stated that in today's event over 1800 metres ARTIQUE was able to lead which suits the gelding's racing pattern.






RACE 8: STOCKCOURSE HANDICAP - 1600M.

As apprentice B Albuino was indisposed he was replaced on JUST A HOOT by apprentice M Spriggs.

At the start GOLDEN ZEUS, LUX and REALIGN were all tightened for room between KWIGEBO and PLEASURE SEEKER which shifted out.

After leaving the 1200 metres WEEKENDZOFF commenced to race ungenerously until the 800 metres.

Passing the 700 metres PLEASURE SEEKER shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

Approaching the 200 metres after shifting around the heels of ILLANDO to obtain clear running, REALIGN brush GOLDEN ZEUS.


All winners were sent to be swabbed.
