TRACK RATING: Good / Dead / Slow
RACE 1: SECUTOR SECURITIES HANDICAP - 2200M.
Trainer A Eggleston was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for MANAGE by the required time.
COVET IN CASH was slow to begin.
SPICY GAL jumped out at the start making heavy contact with DANCING MAN. As a result DANCING MAN was taken out on to MANAGE which was hampered.
Jockey J Powell reported that near the 1200 metres the saddle on DANCING MAN slipped.
Near the 600 metres MISTER BRAIN improved to the inside of THE GREY TEST and as a result tightened the running of COVET IN CASH and SPICY GAL which made slight contact with the rail and lost ground.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ATEOKTAS K Pope stated that the gelding did not travel well at any stage and did not see out today's distance.
A post race Veterinary examination of ATEOKTASK failed to reveal any abnormality.
When questioned regarding the performance of SPICY GAL C Eaton stated that the mare hit a soft spot on the track at the 800 metres and from that point raced disappointingly.
C Eaton rider of SPICY GAL was however severely reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on a horse out of contention.
A post race Veterinary examination of SPICY GAL failed to reveal any abnormality.
Following the running of race 1 the track was downgraded to DEAD.
RACE 2: RUSSELL JAMES HINZE JUNIOR HANDICAP - 1200M.
An inquiry was adjourned into the reason for the non attendance of apprentice A Best to fulfil his engagement on MR LISTER. As no apprentice rider was avaible MR LISTER was ridden by M Tracey.
The start was delayed when TUCKLAN SKY had to be re-plated behind the barriers.
CRAIGLEA WARRIOR was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start CARATOLOGY shifted out slightly after being bumped by WATERED DOWN. TUCKLAN SKY which was racing to the outside shifted out abruptly severely tightening the running of SUDDEN FURY and as a result MR LISTER and CRAIGLEA WARRIOR were both hampered.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WATERFORD PRINCESS jockey N Day stated that the filly dipped on several occasions and failed to stretch out during the event.
Trainer G Edwards stated she was very disappointed in the performance of WATERFORD PRINCESS today and it is now her intention to spell the filly however Mrs Edwards was advised WATERFORD PRINCESS must pass a barrier trial prior to its next race start.
A post race Veterinary examination of WATERFORD PRINCESS failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 3: GUY & LAUREN HINZE BIRTHDAY HANDICAP - 1200M.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of IRISH BUNNY apprentice M Rodd stated that the gelding failed to handle today's track conditions.
IRISH BUNNY lost the off fore plate during the event.
A post race Veterinary examination of ARMSTRONG revealed the gelding to be lame in the near front.
RACE 4: NORTH COAST EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES HANDICAP -
C Kearney rider of WHISKEY ON ICE accidentally dropped his whip near the 300 metres.
Following the running of race 4 the track was downgraded to SLOW.
RACE 5: KAWANA WATERS BOWLS CLUB INC. PLATE - 1400M.
MARKET MAN jumped away awkwardly.
ALPACA which was slow to begin was hampered shortly after by MARKET MAN and THE DESERTER both of which shifted ground.
After jumping away awkwardly SHEOAKS was tightened for room shortly after the start between LOUIS THE LIP and STRIDE FOR GOLD both of which shifted ground.
Near the 1200 metres FUN ADDICT had to be steadied off the heels of REMEMBER ROBIN which shifted in.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALPACA jockey J Taylor stated the gelding failed to handle the track conditions today.
A post race Veterinary examination of ALPACA failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 6: NATIONAL STORAGE HANDICAP - 1400M.
CRAZY FELLA was slow to begin.
COOLAYETI jumped away awkwardly.
Rounding the home turn MAJESTIC RADIANCE shifted out hampering QUEEN OF VIOLINS.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of COOLAYETI in relation to its last start at Nanango jockey D Gill stated that on that occasion after being slowly away the mare received a bump and became unbalanced in the early stages and as a result was obliged to race further back than anticipated.
RACE 7: KRISTY HINZE HANDICAP - 1200M.
TYCOON ROSE and CHARLIE'S CHANCE came together on jumping.
SILVER SUCCESS jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start DAZZLING TEV had to be steadied off the heels of SILICA which shifted out.
Approaching the 900 metres PRINCE SAMURAI began to over race and near the 800 metres when being restrained had to be checked off the heels of SILICA which was taken out slightly by GEIGER DRAGON. As a consequence JOHNNY BRAVO which was racing to the outside of PRINCE SAMURAI, also had to be steadied. JOHNNY BRAVO then continued to over race for some distance.
RACE 8: THE INK SPOT PRINTERS HANDICAP - 1000M.
COUNTRY PACK was declared a late scratching at 2.35pm after the track had been downgraded.
SILMONT jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with PHILLY.
VICTORY HONOURS jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition.
Near the 600 metres VOLCANIC ANGEL had to be checked when tightened for room between LILY FILOU which was taken out slightly by KIWI CRUISER and also ACTIVE COMBAT which shifted in slightly.
When questioned regarding the performance of KIWI CRUISER jockey N Day stated that the mare failed to handle the track conditions today.
All winners were sent to be swabbed.
