TRACK RATINGS: Dead / Good
Moveable rail out 5 metres for the entire circuit.
RACE 1: CASTLEMAINE PERKINS PLATE - 1800M.
As apprentice T Willan was indisposed he was replaced on SHEOAKS by apprentice A Best.
MEGANISSI was slow to begin.
TRIUMPH SONG over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
RACE 2: NORTH COAST EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES - 1000M.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by M Dorrington rider of 5th placed RIGHT SPICE against MONKEYPICKEN ridden by apprentice A Best being declared 4th alleging interference over the concluding stages.
Stewards were of the opinion that over the concluding stages ST DAN shifted out taking MONKEYPICKEN out on to RIGHT SPICE. Under the circumstances it was deemed that MONKEYPICKEN had not caused the incident and therefore the protest was dismissed.
M Dorrington was subsequently fined the sum of $100 for lodging a frivolous objection - Rule 165 (3).
PEACEFUL HONOUR was slow to begin.
HIGH BUCK and MILLION A MUMMA were tightened at the start between SHEER VICTORY and KOOMERANG TOO which jumped out.
Approaching the 600 metres RIGHT SPICE shifted in and away from MISS RAFFIN DANE and tightened the running of PEACEFUL HONOUR which made heavy contact with the hind quarters of MONEYPICKEN resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and shifting in tightening the running of KING LATARMISS which had to be checked.
Leaving the 100 metres PEACEFUL HONOUR had to be steadied off the heels of KOOMERANG TOO which was tiring.
Following the event MONKEYPICKEN was found to have sustained a laceration to the near hind fetlock.
RACE 3: KAWANA WATERS BOWLS CLUB INC. HANDICAP - 1400M.
Due to transport difficulties M Carson was unable to fulfil his engagement on MR ROMANY and was subsequently replaced by K Pope.
BONJOUR MADAME was slow to begin.
PRINCE FLAMENCO jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 1200 metres EBONY FORCE had to be steadied off the heels of TELEMONT which shifted in. For some distance after this EBONY FORCE refused to settle.
Due to the pace being steadied approaching the 1000 metres WYSIWS began to race ungenerously and shifted out making contact with EBONY FORCE.
Near the 300 metres CRAFTY SCOTSMAN had to be steadied off the heels of WYSIWS which shifted out.
CRAFTY SCOTSMAN was forced to race wide throughout.
RACE 4: THE INK SPOT PRINTERS HANDICAP - 1300M.
Acting on Veterinary advice VOLCANIC ANGEL was declared a late scaratching at 1.57pm when the mare was kicked behind the barriers in the off hind.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on VOLCANIC ANGEL were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 5c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 6c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
PUNNETS LANE reared as the gates opened and lost ground.
CIBOLETTA was slow to begin.
EMAIL ME was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Following the running of race 4 the track was upgraded to GOOD.
RACE 5: CRAIG MARKER ACCOUNTING PTY LTD HANDICAP - 1400M.
GLADMAC jumped away awkwardly.
LUCKY LAURIE was slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000 metres FARISIKNOW was briefly tightened for room by NORTHERN CRUSADER which shifted in.
GLADMAC raced wide throughout the event.
RACE 6: MAROOCHYDORE CENTRAL HOLDINGS HANDICAP - 1400M.
As jockey M Dale was to be overweight he was replaced on OMAR KHAYYAM (Race 6) by M Carson and on COERCED (Race 8) by M Carson.
M Dale was subsequently fined the sum of $100 - Rule 120 (b).
As Damian Miller was stood down by the Club Doctor he was replaced on SCORE A CENTURY by K Pope.
Acting on Veterinary advice RAUTAI'S WARRIOR was declared a late scratching at 3.14pm when the horse was found to be lame in the near foreleg.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on RAUTAI'S WARRIOR were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 30c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 20c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer D Higgins was advised a Veterinary Certificate must be obtained for RAUTAI'S WARRIOR prior to its next race start.
JANUARY and MAN ON A MISSION were both slow to begin.
Near the 800 metres REPRENDRE which commenced to over race, had to be steadied off the heels of SCORE A CENTURY which shifted out resulting in OMAR KHAYYAM which was following having to be steadied.
L Appo rider of BALLY MOUNTAIN was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out leaving the 400 metres when not clear of RATE OF KNOTS which was tightened for room and had to be steadied.
Near the 300 metres MAN ON A MISSION was disappointed for a run between SENSIBLE and BAR ECLIPSE both of which shifted ground.
BALLY MOUNTAIN raced wide throughout.
RACE 7: BUDERIM COFFEE CO HANDICAP - 1200M.
Soon after the start SILENT LAUGHTER and HILLGROVE EXPRESS were tightened for room between COOLAYETI and TAKE A SHOT which shifted out.
Near the 700 metres FASCINATIONS shifted in momentarily tightening the running of TWIGMOSITY, I'M A CRACKER and SILENT LAUGHTER which became unbalanced and made contact with the running rail.
I'M A CRACKER was unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.
FASCINATIONS raced wide throughout the event.
A post race Veterinary examination of PHILLY revealed the filly to be lame in the near hind.
RACE 8: THE RACEBOOK COMPANY HANDICAP - 1300M.
BENARKIN was slow to begin.
THE ANTS PANTS and FIGHT FOR FUTURE both jumped away awkwardly.
On jumping STRAINED RELATIONS and NEWTOWN LAD made contact causing NEWTOWN LAD to become unbalanced and shift out taking A ROYAL TALE out on to FIGHT FOR FUTURE which had to be steadied.
On the home turn after being bumped by MANSWORD which shifted out to improve, JAFFAJACK ran wider on the track.
Leaving the 300 metres THE ANTS PANTS was held up for clear running.
JAFFAJACK raced ungenerously throughout.
All winners were sent to be swabbed.
