RACE 1: GRIFFITHS PARRY LAWYERS PLATE - 1000M.

Due to transport difficulties, C. Schumacher was unable to fulfil his engatement on LITTLE MISSY MAROO and was replaced by K. Pope.

An inquiry was adjourned into the reason for R. Jackson presenting ALI ROLL to race in pacifiers when that gear was not listed on the official gear sheet. Stewards allowed the horse to carry this gear on the evidence tendered by Mr Jackson.

The start was delayed when LITTLE MISSY MAROO reared in the barriers, which resulted in K. Pope twisting his left ankle. K. Pope was cleared to take his ride in this event.

RACE 2: WOMBYE PUB H'CAP - 1600M.

JUAN PABLO jumped away awkwardly.

MASTER CHARLIIE and HENRY THE OCTOPUS came together at the start.

Shortly after entering the straight, MASTER CHARLIE bumped HENRY THE OCTOPUS on several occasions when attempting to take a run to the outside of the heels of JUAN PABLO.

COERCED was obliged to race 3 wide throughout the event.

RACE 3: VELVET WATERS RESTAURANT H'CAP - 1400M.

Leaving the 1100m., OCTAMISTIC shifted out abruptly and forced JADE VICTORY wider on the track.

Leaving the 800m., JADE VICTORY had a tendency to lay in, and passing the 600m., that mare shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in BLOOMIN PERFECT having to be checked off that runner's heels. Whilst stewards were mindful of the racing manners of JADE VICTORY, G. McKeon, rider of JADE VICTORY, was nonetheless advised to take more care in future.

Inside the 500m., IN EXTREMIS had to be checked off the heels of OCTAMISTIC, which hung in despite the efforts of its rider.

OCTAMISTIC hung out rounding the home turn and continued to hang out in the straight.

G. Farrer, rider of GO GAZZA, pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that at the entrance to the straight he angled his mount to the outside of the heels of BLOOMIN PERFECT to improve when not clear, resulting in IN EXTREMIS having to be checked and taken wider. G. Farrer was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 11 August and to expire at midnight, 22 August 2004.

Leaving the 300m., SUPREME COMMAND shifted out under pressure, resulting in DECANTER LASS having to shift out to avoid that runner's heels.

GO GAZZA raced wide throughout the race.

WESTERN HEART, which finished a distant last in the event, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of GO GAZZA, trainer T. Thomas advised that the gelding had lashed out in the barriers at its previous start and after being declared fit to start, raced well below expectations. He added that the following morning the horse was lame in both hind legs, and as a result missed several days work. Trainer Thomas further advised that he had expected an improved perforamance today. The explanation was noted.

K. Cunningham, rider of the 5th placegetter, BLOOMIN PERFECT, was fined $50 for failing to weigh.

Trainers F. Phillips (OUT THERE) and D. Heinemann VULCAN NYMPH) were advised they would be required to provide barrier certificates for their horses prior to their next race starts.

PICTURE BOOK dipped as the gates opened, then shifted in and brushed FLYING ON.

DEFECTING PLAYBOY raced wide throughout the race.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of PICTURE BOOK, B. Stewart stated that, in his opinion, the race did not suit the gelding when left in front as in previous starts, PICTURE BOOK had performed better when positioned with cover.
