SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS: BTC Meeting, 6.11.04

Following the disappointing performance of GRAND MEMORIES, stewards today interviewed trainer M. Mair, who reported that the filly would now be spelled.



Race 1: Glengarry Racing Club New Members Maiden H'cap - 1800m.
1st - Hidden Jewels 2nd - Tolocin 3rd - Golden Oscar 4th - Miss Darbonnaire

Due to transport difficulties, S. Galloway was unable to fulfil his engagements today and was replaced by M. Rice as the rider of PRIVATE LADY, C. Spry as the rider of MAJOR MACLEOD (Race 2), M. Rice as the rider of DIAMOND TIME (Race 4), M. Rice as the rider of CRAIGLEA BELLS (Race 5), N. Day as the rider of KERRI ANNE'S GIRL (Race 6), N. Day as the rider of RUCHED (Race 7) and C. Whiteley as the rider of ROJAH SANDS (Race 8.

As S. Morris was to be overweight, D. Craven was substituted as the rider of TOLOCIN. Stewards will interview S. Morris at a time and date to be fixed regarding his inability to make the weight.

ARCHAEOUS was slow into stride.

PRIVATE LADY was slow to begin and then raced 3 wide in the early and middle stages.

Jockey M. Smith-Lester reported that ARCHAEOUS raced keenly in the early stages, however disappointed in the heavy conditions.


Race 2: www.glengarryracingclub.com.au Class 4 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Lux 2nd - Mushood 3rd - Dualiner 4th - Aladdin's Lamp

Due to transport difficulties, L. Fyfe was unable to fulfil his engagments today and was replaced by A. Russo as the rider of MUSHOOD and C. Spry as the rider of MACHI (Race 8).

ALLADDIN'S LAMP jumped inwards at the start, making contact with MAJOR MCLEOD, which was slowly away.

MAJOR MACLED appeared to dip after travelling 100 metres.

At approximately the 900m., MAJOR MACLEOD had to be eased to avoid the heels of MUSHOOD, which shifted out.

C. Spry reported to stewards that MAJOR MACLEOD was uncomfortable in the heavy going and was under pressure from the 800m. to the finish line.

Race 3: Glengarry Racing Club Ph (07) 5576 5612 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Star Echelon 2nd - Young Mariner 3rd - Great Elle 4th - Spark Of Eternity

Apprentice A. Williams was fined $50 for failing to claim her full allowance on GREAT ELLE.

CURLS CALL was slow to begin.

WINDMAN was hampered at the start between CAXTON STREET and GET BENT, both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 850m., YOUNG MARINER laid out, making contact wtih ARAGOG.

Near the 800m., GREAT ELLE improved on to the heels of YOUNG MARINER and had to be eased.

YOUNG MARINER was inclined to lay out from the 600m. to the home turn.

A post-race veterinary examination of SPARK OF ETERNITY failed to reveal any abnormality.


Race 4: www.glengarryracingclub.com.au F & M Class 1 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Villosa 2nd - Office Gossip 3rd - Summer of Love 4th - Ms Magenta

OFFICE GOSSIP was tightened at the start between SHE'S OUR DANE and CANNY NORTHERNER, both of which shifted ground.

Near the 600m., DIAMOND TIME, which was racing ungenerously in the prevailing heavy track conditions, shifted in despite the efforts of its jockey, resulting in GIDDYUP GIRL striking the rail and having to be checked. SUMMER OF LOVE, which was following, was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of GIDDYUP GIRL.

Following the event, R. Hancock was examined by the club's doctor after receiving a slight laceration to his foot after striking the running rail near the 600m.. R. Hancock was cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.


Race 5: Can't Beat 'Em Join Glengarry Racing Club Open H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Mt Gower 2nd - How High Sir 3rd - Stonecrusher 4th - Craiglea Bells

HOW HIGH SIR was momentarily tightened at the start between CRAIGLEA BELLS and MT. GOWER, which shifted in.


Race 6: Glengarry Racing Club Members Day Class 2 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Angel Annie 2nd - Waikato 3rd - Miss Lehaar 4th - Kerri Annie's Girl

As N. Tomizawa was ill, C. Spry was substituted as the rider of ANGEL ANNIE.

CANADIAN BLUE and PHOENIX RULE made contact on jumping away.

J. Stanley reported that CANADIAN BLUE was unable to handle the heavy track conditions.


Race 7: Glengarry Racing Club PH(07) 55765612 Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Ruched 2nd - Abstracted 3rd - Northern Alps 4th - Apache White Sox

ULTIMATE GOLD was severely tightened for room near the 800m. turn when racing between BLOOMIN PERFECT and TAEPO, which shifted in. Apprentice S. Drake, rider of TAEPO, was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances, particularly in heavy track conditions, she provide more room to riders on her inside.


Race 8: Glengarry Racing Club Join Now 3yo Maiden Plate - 1200m.
1st - Gidgee Embers 2nd - Cavokay 3rd - Rojah Sands 4th - Von Richthofen

As M. McDonald was indisposed, D. Browne was substituted as the rider of GIDGEE EMBERS.

FOR CERTAIN and VON RICHTHOFEN jumped away awkwardly.

CAVOKAY and FASILDANE came together at the start.

TRUTHFUL PLAYER was slow into stride and tailed off in the early and middle stages.

ROJAH SANDS had to be eased off heels when the paced slowed at approximately the 600m..

When questioned regarding the performance of TRUTHFUL PLAYER, L. Deguara stated that the horse raced greenly in the early stages and was unable to handle the track conditions. He added that whilst TRUTHFUL PLAYER ran home reasonably well, it was not comfortable on the heavy track, and that the horse may be looking for further distance in its races and may perform more genuinely with the addition of blinkers.

A post race veterinary examination of SCENIC PRINCESS failed to reveal any abnormality.
