SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

On Tuesday, 4 January stewards reconvened an adjourned inquiry from race 3 at the ITC meeting on 29 December into the reason for GLOSSARY being checked approaching the 200m. Subsequently, G. Lynch, rider of SPECTACULAR PIC, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that approaching the 200m. he allowed his mount to shift out whilst insufficiently clear of GLOSSARY (A. Gain), resulting in that gelding being severely checked and losing ground. G. Lynch's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 10 meetings, to commence at midnight, 10 January, and to expire at midnight, 26 January 2004.


Race 1: Pewseyvale Riesling 3yo Maiden H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Partying 2nd - Pay Me 3rd - Position 4th - Moss Mania

PARTYING jumped outwards at the start, making contact with KALINGA PARKER, which was slow to begin.

LITTLE LEGEND was hampered at the start between ALCIPPE and POSITRON, which shifted in.

Approaching the 700m., KALINGA PARKER shifted in abruptly and galloped on the hind quarters of ALCIPPE. PAY ME and DADASHE, which were following, had to be steadied. DADASHE then shifted out, forcing GOTTHEHOLEHOG wider on the track. Trainer C. Richardson was advised that KALINGA PARK must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.

Nearing the 200m., PAY ME shifted to the outside of the heels of SEQUALO BLACK to improve and made contact wtih IN THE RING, which became unbalanced.


Race 2: Glengarry Racing Club Maiden H'cap - 1400m.
1st - The Coutes Way 2nd - Circle The Wagons 3rd - Dr Grouch 4th - Joaling

RUSSIAN CASTLE was a declared a late scratching at 12.55 p.m. after making contact with SIERRA SAL when proceeding to the barriers, resulting in D. Browne being dislodged and injured. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on RUSSIAN CASTLE were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 14 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 13 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. D. Browne was stood down by the club's doctor from his remaining engagements and replaced as follows: Race 3. WALLAN ROAD - M. Carson; Race 5. PICK OF PICKS - K. Pope; Race 7. TOWN PLAYER - G. McKeon; Race 8. CABARITA COUNTY - G. McKeon.

ANNIVERSARY LOT was slow to begin.

JANLARI reared as the gates were released and lost ground.

Near the 1100m. INVALUABLE shifted in and away from CIRCLE THE WAGONS and made contact with ROSACEOUS.

SIERRA SAL and JANLARI raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 700m. ANNIVERSARY LOT became awkward to the inside of THE COUTES WAY and became unbalanced.

G. Baker, rider of FRENCH CHEF, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 200m. he attempted to take a run to the inside of THE CADGER where there was insufficient room, resulting in ROSACEOUS and GEM OF THE WOODS being severely checked and losing ground. G. Baker was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 January and to expire at midnight, 22 January 2005.

Following this event the track rating was upgraded to good.


Race 3: XXXX 3yo & Up Maiden H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Iron Bridge 2nd - Icyasong 3rd - Slick Trick 4th - Private Frisco

CELESTIAL ROAD, which reared up and then became cast in the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 1.38 p.m. on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on CELESTIAL ROAD were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer B. Gill was advised that he would be required to produce a barrier test certificate for CELESTIAL ROAD prior to its next race start.

FLINDERS was inclined to hang in throughout the event. Trainer J. Murdoch was advised that FLINDERS must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.

Following the event, the club's veterinary surgeon reported that ST ASPEN had been galloped on its left hind leg, and that LUWARKI was lame in both forelegs.


Race 4: QRSE Coca-Cola Class 2 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Dangerous Host 2nd - Roadie Ran 3rd - Nobleman's Fancy 4th - Classy Darcy

DANGEROUS HOST was hampered on jumping away between CLASSY DARCY and KING COLES, which shifted in. DANGEROUS HOST was inclined to overrace for a short distance following this incident.

Apprentice R. McMahon, rider of NOBLEMAN'S FANCY, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the 700m. when insufficiently clear of KING COLES, which had to be steadied and shifted out, hampering DANGEROUS HOST, which had to be steadied. AWESOME FLASH, which was following, also had to be steadied as a consequence.

On the home turn, VOLCANIC ANGEL shifted out and brushed AEROSOL, forcing that gelding wider on the track.

R. McMahon, rider of NOBLEMAN'S FANCY, was charged with careless riding, in that near the 200m. when being ridden along, he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of CLASSY DARCY, resulting in CLASSY DARCY having to be checked. The inquiry was adjourned to Friday, 14 January to allow apprentice McMahon to be represented by his master, Mr B. Smith.


Race 5: Ramada Pelican Waters Class 1 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Pick Of Picks 2nd - Taisho 3rd - Secret Rain 4th - Miami Ice

COOPER KING was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.54 p.m. after the horse injured itself in its race day stall.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by K. Pope, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Pick Of Picks, against TAISHO being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 100m. After taking evidence from the connections and viewing the stewards patrol film, stewards were of the opinion that TAISHO shifted in near the 100m. making contact with PICK OF PICKS, resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced. Taking into consideration the margin between both horses at the finish, stewards upheld the objection and the Judge's placings were amended to read: No. 2 - PICK OF PICKS - 1st; No. 4 - TAISHO - 2nd; No. 3 - Secret Rain - 3rd; No. MIAMI ICE - 4th. Apprentice M. Morris, rider of TAISHO, was reprimanded and reminded of his obligations to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.

Both MIAMI ICE and SUMMER OF LOVE jumped away awkwardly, losing ground.

MIAMI ICE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300m., A ROYAL TALE shifted in, causing HABITUAL DANCER to have to be steadied. A. Best, rider of A ROYAL TALE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 150m., LITEASAIR was inclined to shift in and away from TAISHO, tightening the running of BARONS COURT, which had to be steadied. MIRACLE SOUND, which was following, also had to be steadied as a consequence.


Race 6: Pacific Ford H'cap 1200m.
1st - Gramodale Gold 2nd - Telegrand 3rd - Nip Of Spirit 4th - Jestica

S. Shield was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 3 and stood down from his remaining engagement on Thespian Prince and was replaced by L. Deguara.

GLADMAC was slow to begin.

Approaching the 300m., B. Thomson, rider of JESTICA, attempted to take a run between PRIVATE BRIEFING and THESPIAN PRINCE where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied. B. Thomson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.


Race 7: Caloundra Class 3 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Lucky Town 2nd - Town Player 3rd - Keep A Dream Alive 4th - Retribution

TRANSMUTATION raced 3 wide in the early stages.

LUCKY TOWN rolled out on the home turn, making contact with DANERIN, forcing that mare wider on the track. G. Farrer, rider of LUCKY TOWN, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 800m., NOTORAE, which was inclined to lay in, shifted in, making heavy contact with THUNDERCLOUDS, which shifted in. SUMMER CLANG, which was following, had to be steadied.


Race 8: QRSE Northern City Finance Class 1 H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Zoolander 2nd - Mr Kiseki 3rd - Triple Time 4th - Bright Boy

LOPPER jumped outwards at the start, taking HARD CAPER out on to MR KISEKI.

QUARTIERS was hampered on jumping away by BRIGHT BOY, which was taken out by ZOOLANDER.

LAWSON HILL was slow to begin.

LOPPER was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages.

BRIGHT BOY and QUARTIERS overraced in the middle stages.

Approaching the 700m., QUARTIERS had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BRIGHT BOY, which shifted in. MR KISEKI, which was following, also had to be steadied in this incident.

MR KISEKI was held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

At the 150m., LOPPER shifted out to improve around the heels of GOLDEN OSCAR and made contact with MR KISEKI. A short distance later, MR KISEKI shifted back in and made contact with LOPPER, which had to be steadied off the heels of GOLDDEN OSCAR.
