SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

As J. Byrne was absent due to personal reasons, D. Griffin injured, L. Deguara ill and A. Best overweight, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Kawana Newsagency 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - 1300m.
1st - Streets Of Fire 2nd - Bay Of Secrets 3rd - Connaissance 4th - Come Back Soon

BAY OF SECRETS (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 900m., OUR KOH SAMUI (J. Hoopert) became awkward between CONNAISSANCE (K. Pope) and STREETS OF FIRE (B. Pengelly) when CONNAISSANCE momentarily shifted ground, resulting in OUR KOH SAMUI being steadied.

STREETS OF FIRE shifted ground over the final stages whilst racing greenly.


Race 2: Kawana Waters Bowls Club Maiden H'cap - 1600m.
1st - El Abanico 2nd - Pelting 3rd - Carino A La Vida 4th - Dane Dream

J. Taylor replaced L. Deguara, who was ill, as the rider of COOL DE BEERS. Trainer P. Blackwell was admonished and reminded of his responsibilities to contact riders and confirm their availability before declaring the said jockeys.

CARINO A LA VIDA (K. Treble) and GOODISON (K. Pope) both jumped awkwardly, losing varying amounts of ground.

Nearing the 1500m., HEADMANN (M. Gray), which was overracing, shifted in abruptly and bumped DANE DREAM (J. Hoopert). Shortly after, M. Gray was obliged to allow HEADMANN to stride forward and settle at the front of the field approaching the 1200m..

EIGHT RELIC (T. Unwin) overraced during the early and middle stages.

Nearing the 1200m., PELTING (A. Merritt) became awkwardly placed on the heels of HEADMAN and was steadied. As a consequence, both DANE DREAM (J. Hoopert) and SWEET IRISH (K. Cunningham) were momentarily inconvenienced.

COOL DE BEERS (J. Taylor) was obliged to race wide during the early stages.

CARINO A LA VIDA (K. Treble) shifted out in the straight whilst under pressure, and near the 200m. K. Treble was obliged to stop riding and straighten the gelding.


Race 3: Caloundra Crash Repairs 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - 1200m.
1st - Buck 'N' Jazz 2nd - Doppelt 3rd - Pubhorse 4th - Silent Kai

GO ROCK AND ROBIN (J. Taylor) jumped awkwardly and shifted out, bumped the hind quarters of MADAME KITTY (R. McMahon).

SILENT KAI (S. Shield) jumped awkwardly.

On jumping away, DOPPELT (K. Pope) made contact with the inside gate, resulting K. Pope becoming momentarily unbalanced.

Shortly after the start, both SILENT KAI and BUCK 'N' JAZZ (R. Mason) came together and bumped.

GO ROCK AND ROBIN (J. Taylor) began to overrace approaching the 800m.. When steadied, GO ROCK AND ROBIN got its head up and became further unbalanced and shifted out, and from that point was obliged to race wide.

Rounding the home turn, SILENT KAI became awkward on the heels of DOPPELT and was steadied.

BUCK 'N' JAZZ dislodged its off fore plate in running.


Race 4: Pelican Motors Class 2 H'cap - 2200m.
1st - Big Mick 2nd - Sardan 3rd - Spectacular Pic 4th - Becca's Belle

CALYPSO KID (K. Pope) jumped awkwardly, making contact with the outside gate. A post-race veterinary examination of CALYPSO KID revealed bruising to the mouith and a slight cut to the near-side jaw.

BIG MICK (B. Pengelly), which was momentarily slow to begin, was then taken out by SARDAN (K. Wharton), which shifted out on jumping, and in turn bumped HIDDEN JEWELS (C. Whiteley).

Rounding the first turn, BECCA'S BELLE (R. Mason) laid in despite the rider's efforts
and momentarly crowded CALYPSO KID, which was steadied.

SARDAN was obliged to race 3 wide in the early and middle stages.

Shortly after leaving the 1300m., CALYPSO KID, which was overracing, contacted the heels of STAMFORD BRIDGE (A. Merritt) and blundered.

Soon after leaving the 1000m., STAMFORD BRIDGE (A. Merritt), which was overracing, became awkward on the heels of SARDAN and shifted out, bumping BECCA'S BELLE, which was obliged to race wide from that point.

Over the final stages, SPECTACULAR PIC (G. Lynch) shifted in to obtain clear running and momentarily crowded STAMFORD BRIDGE on to SHEOAKS (J. Taylor), which then brushed HIDDEN JEWELS. G. Lynch, rider of SPECTACULAR PIC, was instructed to exercise greater care in future.


Race 5: Woombye Supa IGA H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Slerch 2nd - Gunman 3rd - Bouretta 4th - Aman's Gotta Do

On jumping away, BOURETTA (G. Lynch) and SLERCH (M. Radecker) came together and bumped.

Shortly after the start, RIVERGOLD (S.Drake) stumbled and became unbalanced for a short distance.

Approaching the 900m., GIRITALE (K. Cunningham) shifted in when insufficiently clear of ONLY VISION (B. Pengelly), resulting in ONLY VISION having to be steadied. K. Cunningham, rider of GIRITALE, was reprimanded and instructed that she must exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

Shortly after straightening, GUNMAN (R. McMahon) was momentarily held up for clear running.

SLERCH brushed the running rail approaching the 400m..

Near the 400m., MAKE A BUCK (M. Morris) stumbled and became unbalanced. A subsequent veterinary examination of MAKE A BUCK revealed the filly had dislodged its off fore and near hind shoes and had suffered a small laceration to the off fore leg.

A post-race veterinary examination of ONLY VISION revealed the gelding to be distressed and lame in the near hind leg. Trainer B. McLachlan was instructed to provide a veterinary clearance for ONLY VISION before the gelding starts again.

Trainer B. McLachlan was instructed to advise his staff that in future they were to be in the enclosure a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the commencement of a race, or their failure to do so may result in action being taken by the stewards.




Race 6: Number One Quality Homes Class 3 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Slerch 2nd - Gunman 3rd - Bouretta 4th - Aman's Gotta Do

As jockey A. Best was to be overweight, C. Whiteley was substituted as the rider of CARRY ON ACE. A. Best was fined the sum of $100.

MISTER RAW (B. Pengelly) jumped awkwardly.

COUNTRY PACK (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.

STAR OF NEDIYM (K. Pope) had a tendency to lay in between the 600m. and 700m., brushing the running rail on several occasions.


Race 7: Sunshine Coast Daily H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Taisho 2nd - Generalissimo 3rd - Sammy 4th - Zedsquare

THURMAN (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly.

GENERALISSIMO (G. Lynch) and TAISHO (B. Pengelly) were slow to begin.

CUT OF DIAMONDS (J. Taylor) raced wide during the early stages and when let stride was able to move closer to the rail shortly after the 800m..

Approaching and rounding the home turn, RAVENOUS MAKTIG SI (K. Pope) hung out.

On straightening, SAMMY (R. Mason) was held up for clear running to the inside of GENERALISSIMO (G. Lynch), and when attempting to move wider, bumped GENERALISSIMO on several occasions.

Near the 300m., BOLD AUSBRED (K. Wharton) was momentarily held up for clear running, then shifted in and bumped RAVENOUS MAKTIG SI.

Approaching the 100m., MAIZCAY MAGIC (R. McMahon) appeared to falter and was pulled up. A veterinary examination of MAIZCAY MAGIC revealed the gelding had suffered a severe fracture of the right fore sesamoids and was humanely euthanased.

TAISHO raced wide throughout and had a tendency to lay out in the straight under pressure.


Race 8: Resort Interiors Class 1 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Picaduke 2nd - Monszip 3rd - Guilt Trip 4th - Star Echelon

Trainer B. McLachlan was fined the sum of $100 for presenting PICADUKE in the enclosure with incorrect gear.

OUR LIGHT (C. Whiteley), MONZIP (K. Pope) and HONOUR YOUR MARKS (C. Kearney) were all slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, NORANI STAR (J. Taylor) was awkward on the heels of STAR ECHELON (M. Rice) and was steadied.

Between the 800m. and 700m., PICADUKE (B. Pengelly) laid in and brushed the rail on 2 occasions..

Leaving the 800m., THE POSTMASTER (R. Mason) became awkwardly placed on the heels of FLINDERS (M. Smith-Lester).

On straightening, OUR LIGHT (C. Whiteley), whilst attempting to move wider to obtain clear running, bumped OVERTOTHREE (K. Wharton) on 2 occasions, resulting in OUR LIGHT becoming unbalanced.

Stewards questioned jockey C. Whiteley over the performance of OUR LIGHT. He stated that after the mare was slow to begin, she was then not suited to the slow early pace. Then nearing the 600m., when attempting to let down, he was unable to do so due to the pace quickening. He added that rounding the home turn when attempting to make a run he came into contact with OVERTOTHREE (K. Wharton), although he felt that this did not affect the mare's performance. He stated however shortly after this, the mare began to run on when asked for an effort. C. Whiteley stated that OUR LIGHT was definitely looking for further ground. C. Whiteley's explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination of OUR LIGHT failed to reveal any abnormalities.
