Subsequent to correct weight, all monies invested on SECRET SCORE and GREEN POLES were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Race 3: Savills Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Wait Small 2nd –Rojah Lass 3rd – Seagaze 4th – Youdidntseeme

KAVERNE (M. Hughes), which returned to scale with blood in both nostrils, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and subsequently deemed not to be a bleeder. It was assessed that the presence of blood was due to a heavy bump that KAVERNE had sustained in the barriers prior to the start. Trainer T. Miller was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for KAVERNE prior to its next race start.

When questioned regarding the performance of REMBRANDTS RANSOM, J. Byrne stated that he was instructed to allow the horse to settle where it was comfortable. He added that after the filly received a slight tightening near the 900m, he was forced to race further back than anticipated, however REMBRANDTS RANSOM ran home strongly, and, in his opinion, the filly would be better suited over a longer distance.

He further stated that SOPHIE GIRL felt flat and, in his opinion, had not backed up well from its previous start some 9 days ago. Trainer G. Roberts stated in her opinion SOPHIE GIRL had not handled the 9 day back up from its last start and advised stewards that it was her intention to spell the horse following today’s performance.
