Race 1: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Kelsey Cottrell Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Awesome Storm 2nd – Nobody’s Friend 3rd – Velarchi 4th – Lucky Mix
N. Thomas was dislodged from PERILOUS RULE during the preliminary and as a result was unable to fulfil his engagement. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of PERILOUS RULE at 12.13 p.m.. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on PERILOUS RULE were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 36 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 30 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. As a result of this incident, the starting time of this race was delayed approximately 10 minutes. As N. Thomas was injured and unable to fulfil his remaining engagements, D. Peisley was substituted as the rider of RILEY ROAD in race 6, and A. Taylor as the rider of SURIA SHADOW in race 8.
VELARCHI (J. Bowditch) began awkwardly and shifted out, brushing NOBODY’S FRIEND (B. Agland).
AWESOME STORM (M. Morris) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.
Following this event, the track rating was upgraded to good.
Race 2: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Chris Noffke QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Craiglea Charm 2nd – Fort ‘N’ Won 3rd – Forever Autumn 4th – Yunus
Correct weight was delayed when G. McCarthy, rider of MONA STAR, advised stewards he was denied a fair start. After taking evidence from G. McCarthy, starter R. Huxham, and viewing the official video footage, stewards were satisfied that MONA STAR was afforded the opportunity of a fair start and correct weight was subsequently semaphored. A warning was issued to the connections of MONA STAR regarding its barrier manners.
Race 3: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Brad Williamson Open H’cap – 1600m
1st – Active Combat 2nd – Nediym’s Image 3rd – Final Demand 4th – Lord Clinton
Trainer M. Goodwin was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR14 regarding the late scratching of BIRUBI CHOSEN at 10.09 a.m. for unacceptable reasons.
MIDNIGHT AVENUE (A. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
Leaving the 600m, NEDIYM’S IMAGE (M. Morris) shifted out to improve, taking LORD CLINTON wider on the track.
FINAL DEMAND (B. Pengelly) was inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 200m.
Race 4: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Daniel Dzufer 3yo & Up H’cap - 1000m
1st – No Time To Spare 2nd – Tokyo Tango 3rd – Galangal 4th – Mud Puddle
Trainer B. Johnson will be advised that a fine of $100 will be imposed for failing to declare a rider for FLINDERS PRINCESS by the prescribed time. B. Johnson will also be interviewed regarding his failure to attend a stewards’ inquiry as directed.
YARRABEE ROAD (G. Geran), which was slow to begin, was tightened for room at the start between MUD PUDDLE (K. Wharton) and PEARL LOVER (R. Hinricks), which jumped away awkwardly.
DISCO RUN (S. Shield) and TOKYO TANGO (D. Griffin) were slow to begin.
Approaching the 400m, PEARL LOVER shifted in, made contact with the running rail.
GALANGAL (B. Stewart) and NO TIME TO SPARE (C. Whiteley) came together on a couple of occasions between the 300m and 100m.
ELLE SAIT (J. Holder) was caught wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Ben Gohl Class 2 H’cap – 1000m
1st – Amore 2nd – Smart Opinion 3rd – Elysee Strike 4th – Proud Hunter
Leaving the 800m, PROUD HUNTER (B. Pengelly) and FORCE OF LOVE (N. Day) came together and made heavy contact. Stewards considered both riders contributed to the incident and B. Pengelly and N. Day were reminded of their obligations regarding over-competitive riding.
Race 6: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Ellen Fullerton Class 1 H’cap – 1300m
1st – Desert Monarch 2nd – Riley Road 3rd – Krasnoroutskaya 4th – Dane Prince
AQUA’S BEST, which reared over in the barriers was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
JUST A FREAK (C. Kearney) was slow to begin.
KRASNOROUTSKAYA (A. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
MATZUMI (P. Hammersley) and AQUA’S BEST (C. Spry) came together on jumping away.
DANE PRINCE (K. Pope) overrace in the early stages.
DANE PRINCE was held up rounding the home turn.
Leaving the 100m, KRASNOROUTSKAYA shifted out to improve, bumping MAGIC TOP (B. El-Issa).
RILEY ROAD and ANTI VENOM (J. Bowditch) were inclined to shift out under pressure in the run to the finish.
REGAL SECRET (K. Wharton) was caught wide for the majority of the event.
Race 7: XXXX Rising Stars Class 3 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Auditorium 2nd – Drawbaa 3rd – Harlin 4th – Beltinski
RISING SUCCESS (S. Drake) blundered on jumping away.
Approaching the 1600m, OSTRAS (S. Galloway), which was overracing, improved on to the heels of MUSHOOD (A. Best) and had to be steadied and shifted out, and the horse continued to overrace until the 1200m.
AUDITORIUM (D. Griffin) had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 200m..
ROSE OF DESTINY (J. Holder) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
Race 8: XXXX Rising Star Of Sport Nick D’Arcy Class 1 H’cap – 1600m
1st – Spirited Express 2nd – Craiglea Countess 3rd – Nouveau Star 4th – Vettori’s Image
WOODWINDER (K. Pope) was tightened for room on jumping away between SURIA SHADOW (A. Taylor) and VETTORI’S IMAGE (M. Carson), which began awkwardly and shifted out.
Shortly after this incident, FEATHER BED (D. Griffin) was tightened between SURIA SHADOW and CRAIGLEA COUNTESS (M. Rice).
MAGNETIC BAY (B. Pengelly) was caught wide in the early and middle stages.
VETTORI’S IMAGE (M. Carson) overraced in the early and middle stages, and as a result the horse shifted in and brushed the running rail near the 800m. VETTORI’S IMAGE again shifted in and made contact with the running rail near the 400m.
VETTORI’S IMAGE shifted out under pressure leaving the 100m, forcing GULLIVER TRAVELS (M. Palmer) and FEATHER BED wider, which in turn caused MAGNETIC BAY (B. Pengelly) to have to be steadied between FEATHER BED and LIPS ARE SEALED (K. Wharton).
SPIRITED EXPRESS (D. Peisley) was caught wide for the majority of the event.
