Race 1: Ed Ellison Maiden H’cap – 1600m
1st – Banjo 2nd – Seven Sovereigns 3rd – The Band 4th – Flying Silver

Due to transport delays, J. Taylor and B. Pengelly were unable to fulfil their engagements in this race. D. Barron was substituted as the rider of BANJO, and M. Morris as the rider of THE BAND.

HUNT FOR GLORY (N. Thomas), SOMEWHERE SAFER (K. Pope) and LEGAL SLEW (K. Wharton) slow to begin.

ARAMADI (K. Forrester) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

SEVEN SOVEREIGNS (M. Kai) was tightened for room at the start between BANJO (D. Barron), which shifted in, and REFINED DESERT (C. Spry), which shifted out after blundering on jumping away.

Near the 1100m, BANJO (D. Barron) had to be steadied off the heels of SOMEWHERE SAFER, which shifted in. K. Pope, rider of SOMEWHERE SAFER, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

SOMEWHERE SAFER commenced to hang out near the 800m and did so until the 350m.

Near the 250m, SEVEN SOVEREIGNS improved to the inside of FANCY DANCER (S. Scriven) where there was doubtful room, and in doing so made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

Passing the 250m, THE BAND (M. Morris) and SOMEWHERE SAFER made contact.

HUNT FOR GLORY (N. Thomas) and MAKIN STARS (O. Turpin) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 2: Qld Jockey’s Association QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate - 1200 m
1st – Swiss Ace 2nd – Indiana Storm 3rd – Lemarac Star 4th – Sommersea Drive

Trainer G. Ryan was fined $50 for failing to present the Document of Description for MOSMAN PRINCESS.

LIGHTNING MCQUEEN (J. Byrne) jumped outwards at the start, taking WINXAARHEART (M. Morris) out on to NATIONAL SOLDIER (K. Forrester).

SOMMERSEA DRIVE (D. Barron) jumped outwards when the gates were released, making contact with the hind quarters of REAL WORLD (S. Campton).

Approaching the 1000m, SHEDAWN (M. Traecey) had to be steadied when tightened for room by LOVE AND HOPE (A. Merritt), which when racing greenly shifted in and away from MISS MAHAL (L. Morrison). LOVE AND HOPE continued to race greenly for some distance thereafter.

Near the 1000m, SOMMERSEA DRIVE, which had commenced to race ungenerously, improved to the inside of MOSMAN PRINCESS (R. McMahon) where there was insufficient room and in doing so tightened GEEBEETEE (J. Taylor). SOMMERSEA DRIVE continued to overrace until near the 500m.

Leaving the 400m, NATIONAL SOLDIER (K. Forrester) laid in and had to be steadied off the heels of EVIL STARE (S. Scriven).

NATIONAL SOLDIER (K. Forrester) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 3: Heinrich Bloodstock Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Scoot 2nd – Wishenda 3rd – Lilianbee 4th - Preternaturally

GO RAINEY, which was unable to be loaded into the barriers, was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2.02 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on GO RAINEY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 25 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Trainer T. Thomas was advised that he must produce a barrier certificate for GO RAINEY prior to its next race start.

LILIANBEE (A. Taylor), FRISCO AFFAIR (K. Forrester) and IDYLLIC DANEHILL (J. Powell) were slow to begin.

LILIANBEE raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Near the 1000m, SWEET ADDICTION (B. Pengelly) improved up on to the heels of SPARKLING FLIGHT (A. Merritt) and when being restrained shifted out, taking FRISCO AFFAIR and SATIN DREAM (O. Turpin) wider on the track.

Leaving the 350m, SWEET ADDICTION (B. Pengelly) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so making contact with SPARKLING FLIGHT (A. Merritt), which in turn shifted out, taking FRISCO AFFAIR (K. Forrester) out on to SATIN DREAM (O. Turpin).

Near the 50m, SWEET ADDICTION (B. Pengelly) shifted out, taking IDYLLIC DANEHILL (J. Powell) out on to SPARKLING FLIGHT, which was hampered.

SATIN DREAM and STAREMEDOWN (R. Hinricks) raced wide throughout the event.

Apprentice R. Hinricks was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on STAREMEDOWN which was out of contention.


Race 4: Palmaday Stud Class 1 H’cap – 1000m,
1st –Lennie Sequalo 2nd – Overworked 3rd – Reonmay 4th -

Stewards will interview trainer S. Ryan in relation to the late scratching of SHARNA MYST at 8.20 a.m..

At the request of jockey J. Byrne, DASHABLONDE was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon in the enclosure and again on arrival at the barriers. DASHABLONDE was cleared to race.

OVERWORKED (S. Scriven) and LENNIE SEQUALO (R. Mason) made contact on jumping away.

MURGOR (D. Carrigg) was slow to begin.

N. Thomas, rider of IMPULSINATOR, dropped his whip near the 350m.

STAR OF BABYLON (K. Pope) was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.

J. Murphy, rider of the 4th placegetter, MONAGETTI, was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the finish of the race.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of DASHABLONDE, J. Byrne stated that the horse had begun well, however leaving the 800m when attempting to put the horse into the race, DASHABLONDE was under pressure and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. Trainer L. Ross stated that although in his opinion DASHABLONDE was suited to longer distances, he was nevertheless disappointed in the filly’s first-up effort today and undertook to report to stewards any abnormality which became apparent with the filly which may explain today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of DASHABLONDE failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 5: Queensland Racehorse Owners Association Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Jacaranda Charm 2nd – Millers Wheel 3rd – Master Illusion 4th – Belle Tricks

PRINCESS PINKY (R. McMahon) reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

MASTER ILLUSION (J. Byrne) jumped outwards at the start making contact with REGAL CHANEL (M. Hackett).

A short distance after the start, BOLD BENNY (A. Taylor) shifted out, taking KINGSFIELD (A. Merritt) out on to the hind quarters of MASTER ILLUSION (J. Byrne).

PRINCESS PINKY raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages, and near the 700m improved up on to the heels of MILLERS WHEEL (S. Scriven) and had to be checked.

MILLERS WHEEL (S. Scriven) was inclined to lay out rounding the 800m turn.

J. Byrne, rider of MASTER ILLUSION, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 350m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of BARRICADES (D. Van Bekkum) and as a result made heavy contact with BARRICADES, which became unbalanced and shifted out, hampering KINGSFIELD (A. Merritt). J. Byrne was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings. Stewards ordered that today’s 7 meeting penalty be served partially concurrent with a 7 meeting suspension incurred yesterday at Eagle Farm on Saturday, 21 April. Stewards ordered that J. Byrne’s licence to ride in races be suspended up to and including midnight, Friday, 18 May 2007.

MILLERS WHEEL was held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 250m.

S. Scriven, rider of MILLERS WHEEL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift out in the vicinity of the 250m when insufficiently clear of PRINCESS PINKY (R. McMahon), resulting in PRINCESS PINKY having to be checked to avoid the heels of MILLERS WHEEL. S. Scriven was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 25 May, and to expire at midnight, 9 May 2007.

Nearing the 200m, BELLE TRICKS (K. Pope) shifted out, making contact with JACARANDA CHARM (K. Forrester).

TENACIOUS LASS (S. Katsidis) raced wide throughout.


Race 6: Carlita Buchanan Tax Accounting Open H’cap – 1000m
1st – Buck’s Secret 2nd – Maxy Legs 3rd – Spinardo 4th – Clanger

SPINARDO (M. Dorrington) jumped outwards at the start, taking ONE ALONE (K. Cunningham) out on to ACTIVE COMBAT (M. Traecey).

Near the 100m, SERENOTE (B. Pengelly) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between FINAL DEMAND (S. Katsidis) and CLANGER (O. Turpin), which shifted in.

ACTIVE COMBAT was held up for clear running approaching the finish line.

MAXY LEGS bled during the event. Trainer S. Mackinnon was advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.


Race 7: Jim McGill Memorial Syn Bloodstock Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Haight Ashbury 2nd – Cap Riviera 3rd – Nitrogen Narcosis 4th –

DRAWBAA (N. Evans) was slow to begin, and a short distance after the start had to be steadied off the heels of SNOW DESTINY (J. Powell), which shifted out slightly.

Near the 1200m, CAP RIVIERA (S. Katsidis) shifted out, making contact with TATTYAM (L. Morrison).

SNOW DESTINY (J. Powell) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 300m, CAP RIVIERA (S. Katsidis) had to be steadied when attempting a run between TATTYAM (L. Morrison) and COPPER PENNY (K. Wharton), which shifted out. CAP RIVIERA was then obliged to alter course inwards to obtain clear running.

NITROGEN NARCOSIS (B. Pengelly) and RISEUPSINGING (N. Thomas) raced wide throughout.


Race 8: Greg Grant Saddlery Class 1 H’cap - 1400m
1st – Ozjuria 2nd – Aquarius 3rd – Thunder Beach/Wind Gusts

BABY DRAGON was a late scratching 8.50 a.m. on veterinary advice.

B. Stewart, rider of PAGE NUMBER, dropped his whip near the 350m.

N. Day, rider of THUNDER BEACH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 100m he allowed his mount to shift in when being ridden along, taking BURNETT DANCER (K. Pope) in on to CANYOUHEARTHEBELL, which had to be checked when forced on to the hind quarters of AQUARIUS (S. Scriven). A Short distance later, BURNETT DANCER had to be checked and struck the heels of THUNDER BEACH (N. Day), which continued to shift in. N. Day was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 25 April and to expire at midnight, 5 May 2007.

WIND GUSTS (S. Katsidis) was inclined to hang in over the concluding stages.

BURNETT DANCER (K. Pope), WIND GUSTS (S. Katsidis), PAGE NUMBER (B. Stewart), OZJURIA (K. Forrester) and WINMARA (O. Turpin) all raced wide throughout.
