GCTC, 20.8.11 – Race 7.
O. Turpin, rider of SIR MOSSMAN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1500m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CAPTIVE WAY (T. Treichel), which was taken in pressuring, CANSAVE (Michael Palmer)which inturn forced GO GERRY (D. Missen)in when not clear of NUJOOLOO ROAD (L. Cook), which resulted in NUJOOLOO ROAD being checked and losing its position. O. Turpin was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 October and to expire a midnight, 16 October.
Race 1: Raas Motels QTIS 3yo Class 1 H'cap - 1600m
1st – Run Away Ruby 2nd – Easy Lager 3rd – Troilus Fuse 4th – Your Move
MORINGA’S TRAMP (J. Brown) was a little slow to begin.
RUN AWAY RUBY (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly and shifted out, forcing YOUR MOVE (Matthew Palmer) wider on the track.
MORINGA’S TRAMP commenced to hang in shortly after the start and made contact with the running rail on several occasions between the 1500m and 1400m.
Approaching the 1200m, MORINGA’S TRAMP blundered and became unbalanced.
Race 2: Holmans Accounting Maiden Plate – 1600m
1st – Church Lane 2nd – Absolouie 3rd – Epic Path 4th –Rabanal
DAWN BOY (O. Turpin) was slow to begin.
EPIC FAITH (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly.
CRAB POT (B. Looker) was held up and unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn, and leaving the 400m shifted out, making contact with PROVINCIAL (J. Brown).
CHURCH LANE (T. Huxham) had a tendency to hang out under pressure in the home straight.
THE INSTIGATOR (A. Kitson) and PROVINCIAL (J. Browne) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: Raas Real Estate Class 5 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Audacious Spirit 2nd – Mount Kosciuszko 3rd – Little Footsteps 4th – Tuscon Rain
Apprentice S. Arnold was permitted to fulfil his engagements on PRIDE OF POLAND and MOON LADY (Race 4) and ZAROXIE (Race 5) without being able to take full advantage of his claim and failing to claim down to his allotted riding weight. At a subsequent inquiry, S. Arnold was fined the sum of $500.
The start of this race was delayed slightly when J. Brown was dislodged from LITTLE FOOTSTEPS during the preliminary. After cantering a short distance, LITTLE FOOTSTEPS was recaptured and after being examined by the veterinary surgeon was cleared to start. Apprentice Brown advised that she was clear of any injury and fulfilled her engagement.
The saddle on TUSCON RAIN shifted en route to the barriers, requiring the horse to be resaddled.
PRIDE OF POLAND (S. Arnold) began awkwardly and blundered on jumping away.
HARNEY (P. Schmidt) and STAND AND CHEER (G. Goold) were slow to begin.
HAWK HUNTER (M. Radecker) commenced to hang out approaching the 800m and continued to do so rounding the home turn.
TUSCON RAIN (T. Bell), HAWK HUNTER and STAND AND CHEER raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 4: Archers Body Corporate Management Maiden H'cap - 1200m
1st – Whiskey Highway 2nd – One Bitten 3rd – Full Of Surprises 4th – Excellent Elite
As K. Gates was indisposed, T. Huxham was substituted as the rider of DENS ERA.
Trainer B. Costello was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for DANCING AL by the prescribed time.
AUDACIOUS AL (P. Schmidt), FULL OF SURPRISES (E. Wilkinson) and GRAND MARINER (K. Pope) were slow to begin.
WHISKEY HIGHWAY (D. Browne) and MAIN STREET (G. Colless) began awkwardly.
WHAT A TYCOON (Michael Palmer) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with DANCING AL (A. Pattillo), which in turn shifted in, brushing WAVERLEY MISS (L. Herne).
Leaving the 900m, ST QUALO (G. Goold) improved on to the heels of DANCING AL and when being steadied shifted in, making contact with WHISKEY HIGHWAY.
WHISKEY HIGHWAY was held up for clear running and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until the 200m, at which stage it shifted out, making contact with DANCING AL.
WAVERLEY MISS, MOON LADY (S. Arnold) and MAIN STREET raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of ONCE BITTEN revealed a laceration to the near hind heel.
Race 5: Hynes Lawyers Maiden H'cap – 1200m
1st – Leveraction 2nd – Spurfect 3rd – Oh Sunday 4th – Cracco
The start of this race was delayed when FLAMING AURA became fractious in the barriers. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon, FLAMING AURA was cleared to start.
ACES ‘N’ KINGS (P. Schmidt) was slow to begin.
FAWZA (E. Wilkinson) began awkwardly.
CRACCO (S. Galloway) and BOOTS ‘N’ JEANS (M. Hughes) overraced in the early and middle stages of the race.
Near the 700m, CRACCO improved onto the heels of OH SUNDAY (J. Taylor) and shifted out, forcing ZAROXIE (S. Arnold) wider on the track.
LEVERACTION (D. Browne) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from leaving the 400m until leaving the 300m.
ZAROXIE, LETHAL ROSE (Matthew Palmer) and SHESASTAD (A. Butler) raced wide for the majority of the race.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of FLAMING AURA, trainer G. Heinrich explained that after beginning well, the filly was obliged to take up a more forward position which, in her opinion, did not suit the horse being first up from a spell. She added as a result FLAMING AURA worked hard in the early stages of the event and she was not entirely disappointed with the run and was of the opinion that the filly would take benefit from today’s outing. Jockey G. Colless concurred with trainer G. Heinrich’s comments. A post-race veterinary examination of FLAMING AURA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 6: ANZ Bank Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Incandescent 2nd – Geological 3rd – Sargasso 4th – Kar Ketch Me
Trainer T. Hall was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for PATH TO FREEDOM by the prescribed time.
Connections of WON A HEART advised that it was the intention to ride gelding in a mid to back position. The horse was ridden accordingly.
GEOLOGICAL (S. Galloway) began awkwardly and shifted in, brushing STALWART ANIKA (P. Schmidt).
BIG GERRY (B. Looker) raced wide in the early stages.
SARGASSO (N. Thomas) and WON A HEART (T. Bell) raced wide for the majority of the event.
INCANDESCENT lost its near hind plate in running.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WON A HEART, apprentice T. Bell stated that whilst the horse was obliged to race in a 3 wide position it travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 500m. Stable representative Miss Calland reported that after speaking with trainer M. Dunne, it was his intention to discuss with connections the horse’s immediate racing program and would advise stewards of any outcome. A post-race veterinary examination of WON A HEART failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 7: Raas Accommodation Industry Brokers Class 2 H'cap – 2200m
1st – Sancy Diamond 2nd – Little Billie 3rd – Not A Lady 4th – Cansave
NOT A LADY (A. Pattillo) was tightened for room on jumping away between ZENTON (S. Galloway) and BITTERMAGIC (P. Schmidt), which shifted out.
CANDICE (K. Pope) began awkwardly.
BIG MAX (J. Taylor) raced wide in the early stages.
ZENTON (S. Galloway) overraced in the early and middle stages of the race.
Leaving the 1300m when the pace slackened, B. Looker, rider of SANCY DIAMOND, elected to shift wider on the track and improved forward, assuming the lead near the 1100m.
At the same stage, WHISPERING ACT (C. Small) commenced to overrace and as a result shifted wider on the track and raced wide from that point onwards.
BITTERMAGIC (P. Schmidt) had to be momentarily steadied near the 300m when tightened for room by LEGAL VIEW (P. Keane), which shifted in.
Leaving the 300m, CANDICE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LITTLE BILLIE (E. Wilkinson), which shifted out under pressure. E. Wilkinson, rider of LITTLE BILLIE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 200m, NOT A LADY had to be steadied when tightened for room between LEGAL VIEW and LITTLE BILLIE, both of which shifted ground under pressure.
INDITE lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 8: EMB Insurance Class 1 H'cap - 1000m
1st – Aqualin 2nd –Coco Bay 3rd – Bahama Flyer 4th – Kolo
The start was delayed when AQUALIN (T. Huxham) proved difficult to load. Trainer A. Jones was advised that a warning would be placed on AQUALIN regarding the horse’s barrier manners.
Correct weight was delayed when A. Pattillo, rider of the 4th placegetter KOLO, exercised his right to view the film of the race over the concluding stages to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge a protest against the 3rd placegetter, BAHAMA FLYER (N. Thomas). After viewing the film of the race, A. Pattillo declined to proceed with the objection.
SNIP ‘N’ AWAY (G. Colless) threw its head in the air when the start was effected and lost ground.
COCO BABY (E. Wilkinson) began awkwardly.
ZEBRA CROSSING (A. Kitson) commenced to overrace leaving the 700m, and near the 500m improved onto the heels of BRIGALOW BABE (B. Stewart) and had had to be steadied.
BLACKGOLD (P. Schmidt) raced wide throughout.
Race 9: Mandolin Resort Class 1 H'cap 1400m
1st –My Quilter 2nd – Alriodane 3rd – Silver Trump 4th – All My Heart
SILVER TRUMP (R. Wiggins) and POETIC MISTRESS (D. Barron) were both slow into stride.
THE DOW JONES (E. Wilkinson) had to be steadied leaving the 800m when tightened for room by LONE HEART (A. Pattillo), which shifted in. A. Pattillo, rider of LONE HEART, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Leaving the 300m, LONE HEART shifted out, bumping THE DOW JONES, which in turn shifted out, brushing ALL MY HEART (G. Colless).
A short distance later, ALL MY HEART shifted in, hampering THE DOW JONES .
Approaching the 200m, CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE (J. Taylor) shifted out under pressure, forcing INTHANON (M. Hellyer) and RARE SUBJECT (P. Hammersley) wider on the track. CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE then continued to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages. J. Taylor, rider of CAPTAIN INVINCIBLE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
LONE HEART raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
