SUPPLEMENTARY

From 23.6.12 Tattersall’s Racing Club – Eagle Farm:

Race 7: Trainer L. Kelly reported that ALLTHERIGHTMOVES would now be sent for a spell after having sustained lacerations to both hind legs during the event and subsequently found to have swelling in the near fore fetlock.

Race 3: Following OAK STREET’s disappointing performance, trainer B. Guy has subsequently reported that the gelding has suffered bone chips in its off fore knee and will require correct surgery. B. Guy was advised that he must supply a veterinary clearance for OAK STREET prior to racing again.

Race 1: XXXX F&M H’CAP - 1300m
1st – Neriani 2nd – Comahni 3rd – Cathay Lady 4th – Vipera Gold

The start of this race was delayed when the off fore plate of VIPERA GOLD (A. Allen) had to be refitted by the farrier upon arrival at the barriers.

Correct weight was delayed to provide L. Cassidy, the rider of 2nd placegetter COMAHNI, with the opportunity of viewing the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner NERIANI (C. Munce). After viewing the film jockey Cassidy indicated that he did not wish to lodge an objection and correct weight was given on the Judge’s placings.

COMAHNI (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice A. Allen regarding the riding tactics he adopted on VIPERA GOLD, in particular the reason for him settling at the rear of the field in the early stages and whether he had the opportunity to improve his position between the 800m and the 400m. Apprentice Allen explained that he was instructed to ride the mare in a midfield position, however VIPERA GOLD did not travel comfortably in the early stages and could not muster the necessary speed to take up this position and as a result settled at the rear of the field. Apprentice Allen added that rather than unduly pressure VIPERA GOLD through the middle stages, he had the mare travelling comfortably and rode with vigour shortly after entering the home straight and when MOSSRIVER (M. Vance) shifted out near the 400m he altered course to the inside of that runner and rode with vigour from that point. Trainer L. Tipper confirmed the instructions were to settle the mare in a midfield position and after viewing the available footage expressed some disappointment with the efforts of apprentice Allen in the early stages to attempt to comply with these instructions. Stewards advised apprentice Allen that his ride on VIPERA GOLD lacked judgment in the early stages in that he should have shown more vigour on VIPERA GOLD to attempt to have the mare settle in a position consistent with its established racing pattern. Stewards further advised that apprentice Allen, once settling in a rearward position, should have made a greater effort to improve his position from the 700m to the 400m as in their view in the prevailing heavy track conditions he had set the horse a difficult task to make up that leeway over the concluding stages. Taking into account apprentice Allen’s experience, stewards did not feel that his riding of VIPERA GOLD was so unreasonable as to be culpable in the circumstances.

A post-race veterinary examination of MISS BARWANG (P. Hammersley) revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2: CONTOUR CONSULTING ENGINEERS BENCHMARK 90 H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Grey Assignment 2nd – Topping 3rd – Ausworld 4th – My Quilter

Connections advised that LAKE GEORGE (L. Cassidy) would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permitted. After being ridden with vigour in the early stages LAKE GEORGE settled in a position worse than midfield.

VESPER (R. Myers) was slow to begin.

TELESTO WARRIOR (B. Richardson) was held up and unable to improve from the 600m until rounding the home turn where it was shifted wider on the track to the outside of LAKE GEORGE in order to improve.

AUSWORLD (G. Cooksley) and LAKE GEORGE raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary examination of TELESTO WARRIOR revealed the gelding to have a poor post-race recovery rate.

Race 3: SUMMERVELD RACING STABLES BENCHMARK 90 H’CAP - 1000m
1st – The Ringmaster 2nd – Tornadoes 3rd – Nickiera 4th – Patties Mate

Trainer B. Wakefield was reprimanded for failing to provide a veterinary clearance for NUPTSE.

The start of this race was delayed when PRODUCT (G. Colless) required farrier attention after it lost its off fore plate when proceeding to the barriers.

BIG TONY (J. Byrne) jumped in at the start and made contact with JOPA (T. Bell).

BIG TONY raced wide throughout.

In the early part of the home straight PATTIES MATE (R. Hancock) was inclined to lay in.

THE RINGMASTER (P. Wolfgram) laid in under pressure in the straight.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice T. Bell regarding his riding of JOPA rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight when it was evident that he was held up for clear running for some distance through that section of the event when there appeared to be clear running to the outside of PATTIES MATE. Apprentice Bell explained that from approaching the home turn his mount travelled strongly into the race and improved into a position between PATTIES MATE and NUPTSE (B. Avdulla) and whilst this was not a full run, he anticipated the run widening which would enable him to improve into the race without impeding the momentum of his mount. Apprentice Bell added that this did not occur which resulted in him being held up until near the 300m when he was able to clear himself from the heels of PATTIES MATE and bring JOPA to the outside. When asked as to why he did not move JOPA wider earlier than he did when the run did not widen, he stated that due to the manner in which JOPA was travelling he would have had to severely restrain the horse in order to clear himself from the heels of PATTIES MATE which he felt was not in the best interests of his mount at that point in the race. T. Bell’s explanation was accepted.

P. Wolfgram (THE RINGMASTER) was fined $600 for using the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 4: RCQ BRUCE MCLACHLAN CLASSIC QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1200m
1st –Fusil De Eve 2nd – Holey Gadoley 3rd – On The Deck 4th – Love Laughing

WRITTEN ELEISON (G. Cooksley) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start WRITTEN ELEISON and ON THE DECK (E. Wilkinson) were tightened for room between CANNINGLY (K. Matheson), which shifted out, and AIN’T SHE SWEET (L. Cheshire), which shifted in away from FUSIL DE EVE (J. Stanley).

LOVE LAUGHING (R. Myers) and HOLEY GADOLEY (M. Vance) raced wide throughout.

HOLEY GADOLEY was inclined to lay in when tiring over the concluding stages.

J. Stanley (FUSIL DE EVE) was fined $200 for making celebratory gesture prior to passing the winning post.

Race 5: XXXX SUNSHINE COAST GUINEAS - 1600m
1st – Tuskegee Hawk 2nd – Double Impact 3rd – Goldslick 4th – Dollario

VENTURE ON (S. Galloway) and EXCALIBRE (A. Spinks) were slow to begin.

For some distance passing the 1000m when E. Wilkinson was restraining DOUBLE IMPACT to obtain a position trailing PLAYTIME (C. Munce), the runners trailing that horse commenced to overrace when the pace slackened and in particular VENTURE ON had to be checked.

Near the 350m VENTURE ON shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with DOLLARIO (D. Browne).

Approaching the 200m DOUBLE IMPACT (E. Wilkinson) shifted out under riding resulting in VENTURE ON having to be steadied away from the heels of that runner. E. Wilkinson was reprimanded for this incident.

When asked to explain the disappointing performance of MATABRAHMA, rider J. Byrne stated that the filly never travelled comfortably and did not quicken when placed under pressure from the 400m. J. Byrne was of the opinion that MATABRAHMA was not suited to today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of MATABRAHMA revealed no abnormalities.

C. Munce advised that PLAYTIME was not comfortable in today’s heavy track conditions.

PLAYTIME lost its near fore plate in running.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice P. Keane regarding the performance of PEPPERED BLACK, which trailed the field throughout. Apprentice Keane stated that the horse was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages to the extent that he was forced to apply the whip in order to maintain contact with the main body of the field. Apprentice Keane added that the horse’s form suggested it is effective on rain-affected surfaces, however the horse did not travel comfortably at any time for him today. Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was unable to offer any explanation for today’s disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of PEPPERED BLACK revealed no significant findings. Mr Mayfield-Smith will report in coming days the results of veterinary tests he will have carried out on the colt.

K. Pope reported that STAG did not feel comfortable in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of STAG revealed no significant findings.

L. Cassidy reported that DIET was inclined to lay in for a majority of the race and did not respond to his riding in the straight. Jockey Cassidy was of the opinion that DIET may have come to the end of its current preparation and may be feeling the effects of recent racing.

M. Hellyer (TUSKEGEE HAWK) was fined $200 for making celebratory gesture prior to passing the winning post.

Race 6: REED PROPERTY GROUP GLASSHOUSE H’CAP - 1400m
1st – Belltone 2nd – Jetset Lad 3rd – Varenna Miss 4th – Meet George

VARENNA MISS (J. Byrne) had to be resaddled after arriving at the barriers.

JETSET LAD (S. Galloway) had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until approaching the 300m.

A post-race veterinary examination of MACHINATION (A. Spinks) failed to reveal any abnormalities.

C. Munce (BELLTONE) was fined $400 for making celebratory gesture prior to passing the winning post.

Race 7: SIGNWAVE CALOUNDRA CUP - 2400m
1st – Shenzhou Steeds 2nd – Anudjawun 3rd – Winmara 4th – Spechenka

As S. Scriven was injured, J. Stanley was substituted as the rider of PHELAN READY.

Trainer C. Ritchie was fined $100 for presenting ROI D’JEU late into the mounting yard.

Trainer B. J. Smith will be interviewed in respect to ZA MAGIC being presented late into the enclosure.

After evidence was taken from S. Galloway (ZA MAGIC) and B. Avdulla (ROI D’JEU), an inquiry into the reasons surrounding G. Killen being dislodged from CROSSCANNONS near the 700m was adjourned until a later date.

Approaching the 300m ROI D’JEU (B. Avdulla), which was weakening, was hampered when tightened for room between SHEZAHOTSHOT (G. Cooksley) and SPECHENKA (R. Wiggins), which shifted out in order to improve.

E. Wilkinson (SHENZHOU STEEDS) was fined $200 for making celebratory gesture prior to passing the winning post.

Race 8: YALUMBA WINES C,G&E CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1300m
1st – Coroner 2nd – Shadow Buster 3rd – Darth 4th – Cash ‘N’ Style

FAST LOVER (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.

DARTH (B. Richardson) and CORONER (J. Lloyd) raced wide throughout.

FAST LOVER was held up in the early stages of the home straight.

Apprentice K. Matheson, the rider of CASH ‘N’ STYLE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of SHADOW BUSTER (B. Avdulla), resulting in SHADOW BUSTER being tightened for room between CASH 'N' STYLE and DAI KON (E. Wilkinson), and having to be checked to avoid the heels of CASH 'N' STYLE. Apprentice Matheson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 1 July, and expire at midnight on Tuesday, 10 July 2012.

Approaching the 200m FAST LOVER and NERO’S FIRE (M. Hellyer) were tightened for room between MR ORIENT (A. Allen) and ISSUES (R. Myers), both of which shifted ground under pressure.
