______________________________

Race 1: Secutor Securities Pty Ltd Maiden H'cap - 1600m
1st – Neurum Road 2nd – Ozman 3rd – Bolts’n’holts 4th - Coppin

No racing incidents.

A post-race veterinary examination of OZMAN revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer D. Wilson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for OZMAN prior to its next race start.

Race 2: Noosa Civic TAB QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1600m
1st – Linville 2nd – Love You Libby 3rd – Red Thriller 4th – Spinning Heart

WINNASPINNA (B. Hodder) and RED THRILLER (J. Byrne) raced wide in the early stages.

Leaving the 600m, DESERT RULER (K. Wharton) improved onto the heels of LINVILLE and had to be steadied.

When questioned as to the tactics adopted on LOVE YOU LIBBY, which raced towards the rear of the field in contrast to its most recent racing pattern, jockey Wiggins stated he was instructed to attempt to obtain a position midfield with cover. He added after beginning only fairly from the wide barrier, he elected to take up a position with cover towards the rear of the field as runners drawn inside him had improved forward of him in the early stages. Stewards also questioned jockey Wiggins as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the inside of SPINNING HEART (P. Hammersley) on straightening. R. Wiggins stated that he elected to shift to the outside of SPINNING HEART in order to improve, however that horse was inclined to shift ground under pressure in the home straight, resulting in him having to shift out further than originally anticipated. The explanation was noted.

Race 3: Reed Property Group Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
1st – St Darci 2nd – Bazinsky 3rd – Harlequin’s Gold 4th – I’m Busy

HARLEQUIN’S GOLD (A. Holt) was slow to begin.

HARLEQUIN’S GOLD hung out for the majority of the race. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that a warning be placed on HARLEQUIN’S GOLD regarding its racing manners.

Race 4: Hotel Maleny Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Jezacious Spirit 2nd – Cliff’s Dream 3rd – Navy Chic/Gundy Star

PER MILLE (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

BLACK JET (P. Hammersley) began awkwardly and lost ground.

NAVY CHIC (L. Cassidy) shifted out at the start, taking PRIME MINISTER (R. Wiggins) wider on the track.

Near the 900m, WAY UP THERE (A. Spinks), when overracing, improved onto the heels of CLIFF’S DREAM (R. Myers) and had to be steadied.

GUNDY STAR (D. Browne) laid out on the home turn and near the 350m bumped NAVY CHIC.

WAY UP THERE (A. Spinks) shifted out under pressure near the 300m.

CLIFF’S DREAM shifted out significantly in the home straight despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination of CLIFF’S DREAM revealed the gelding to have a slower than normal recovery rate. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that CLIFF’S DREAM would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

BLACK JET raced greenly throughout the race, and leaving the 900m shifted out, inconveniencing PRIME MINISTER.

Race 5: Proliquor Solutions Class 3 Plate – 1600m
1st – Volcanic 2nd – Bloomin Tipsy 3rd – Everything’s Set 4th – Craiglea Sherry

After dislodging apprentice R. Myers and making contact with the running rail during the preliminary, EVERYTHING’S SET underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

CHIEF BRIGHT STAR (A. Spinks) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.

BLOOMIN TIPSY (G. Goold) was held up rounding the home turn and upon entering the home straight attempted a narrow run to the inside of EVERYTHING’S SET and leaving the 200m had to be eased when EVERYTHING’S SET shifted in.

SAMMIE AMIE (M. Gray) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Jockey M. Gray, rider of SAMMIE AMIE, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish line.

Race 6: Hallco Engineering Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
1st – Fallforme 2nd – Mishani Sinner 3rd – The Blizzard 4th – Jewel Of Cashel

WILLIAMS AGENDA (K. Wharton), which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly.
Trainer I. Livingstone was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier certificate for WILLIAMS AGENDA prior to its next race start.

Near the 800m, JEWEL OF CASHEL (M. Hellyer) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of KING EAGLE (M. Cahill).

WILLIAMS AGENDA returned to the enclosure with blood in its off-side nostril. The veterinary surgeon was of the opinion that this was due to the gelding striking its head when being fractious in the barriers. This examination also revealed minor lacerations to its poll.

Race 7: Scott McMahon Electrical Class 1 H'cap – 1400m
1st – Hussonette 2nd – Sirrush 3rd – Top Dane 4th – Ariston

CHURCH LANE was presented to the enclosure to race without blinkers. Acting on advice from trainer A. Jones that he had confirmed this gear change with the Trainers Service Centre, stewards permitted the gelding to race without this gear. An inquiry into this matter was adjourned to allow stewards to make further inquiries with the Trainers Service Centre.

The start was delayed when CLONMACNOISE dislodged its rider during the preliminary and galloped 3 circuits of the track. CLONMACNOISE was declared a late scratching at 4.01 pm with the following deductions applicable:

0 cent in the dollar for the win of Hussonette
5 cents in the dollar for place of winner Hussonette
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place Sirrush
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place Top Dane

CHURCH LANE (L. Tarrant) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with MISTER TIPS (A. Taylor), which was taken out on to TISANI LAD (M. Hellyer), resulting in MISTER TIPS and TISANI LAD both losing ground.

TOP DANE (R. Wiggins) an HUSSONETTE (M. Cahill) came together on jumping away.

Near the 1200m, TOP DANE (R. Wiggins) shifted in, inconveniencing HUSSONETTE (M. Cahill).

SUGAR DADDY (G. Colless) overraced in the early stages and near the 1000m improved onto the heels of SIRRUSH (D. Browne) and shifted wider.

G. Colless reported that SUGAR DADDY overraced in the early stages due to the slow tempo of the race. He added that as a result SUGAR DADDY failed to respond as expected when pressured upon straightening, and near the 200m, TOP DANE improved to its outside and SUGAR DADDY shifted in and away from that runner, making contact with ARISTON (A. Spinks). A post-race veterinary examination of SUGAR DADDY revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for SUGAR DADDY prior to its next race start.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of HUSSONETTE, stable representative Mr B. Killion stated that since its last start disappointing performance, the filly had trialled well in a tongue-tie, which it raced in for the first time today, and he was of the opinion that this gear change, along with racing on a firm track, had contributed to today’s performance.

Race 8: Natural Pest Control Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1400m
1st – I’llbetricked 2nd – Maroon Bells 3rd – Modern Al 4th – Shadowofexcellence

I’LLBETRICKED (E. Wilkinson) began awkwardly.

MAROON BELLS (A. Taylor) was slow to begin.

On jumping LOCHIEL (A. Holt) was tightened for room between HAMPDEN (L. Cassidy) and EXTREME MOVER (A. Pattillo), which shifted out.

LOCKIEL shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

I’LLBETRICKED shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

L. Cassidy was unable to offer any explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of HAMPDEN. A post-race veterinary examination of HAMPDEN failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
