Race 6. Trainer L. Gough reported that following the disappointing performance of Its On The Pocket, the horse would now be sent for a spell.
Race 8. Stable representative Ms L. Leitch reported that Show Affection suffered a minor eye injury.

Race 1: Kim Alexander Builder Class 1 H'cap – 1800m
Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $200 for failing to scratch BEWHATYOUWANNABE by the prescribed time.
Jockey P. Hammersley was fined $200 for being dually engaged on ANGELFLY and DESERT RULER. After hearing submissions from the parties concerned, stewards directed P. Hammersley ride DESERT RULER, and J. Byrne was substituted as the rider of ANGELFLY.
P. Hammersley reported that his intention was to settle DESERT RULER in its customary position at the tail of the field, however due to the small field size and slow pace in the early stages, he allowed DESERT RULER to stride forward to take up a leading position.
MOBSTER cast its off hind plate in running.
Race 2: Big Dog Barf Maiden Plate - 1600m
Trainer M. Thexton was fined $200 for failing to declare J. Byrne as the rider of ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR by the prescribed time.
ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR (J. Byrne) shifted in at the start and bumped TOUCH A STAR (D. Browne).
HAYYLER’S HELL (A. Coome) began awkwardly.
Near the 1300m, CHIEF SEATTLE (R. McMahon) shifted in and away from QUAD (C. Jokic) and bumped ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR. ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR then raced ungenerously for a short distance.
A short distance later, CHIEF SEATTLE had to be eased when tightened for room between ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR and QUAD, which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. C. Jokic, rider of QUAD, was reminded of her obligations to be fully clear when shifting ground.
KING OF JACKS (V. Venkaya) overraced in the early and middle stages.
ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR was obliged to raced wide in the early stages of the race, and leaving the 1200m was allowed to stride forward to take up a position in the lead.
QUAD and TOUCH A STAR bumped near the 300m.
TOUCH A STAR was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3: Breathing Tree Yoga Maiden H'cap - 1200m
Connections advised that with the addition of blinkers, ALAZANI would be ridden closer to the speed. ALAZANI (E. Wilkinson) blundered shortly after the start and then near the 1100m had to be eased when tightened for room between MOCK ME NOT (R. Wiggins) and DADSAIDJETTA (G. Killen) and as a consequence settled towards the rear of the field.
MUMMULGUM (D. Browne) began awkwardly and then attempted to buck, and when being restrained raced very ungenerously and as a result failed to take any competitive part in the event. Trainer T. Bita was advised that MUMMULGUM must trial to the stewards’ satisfaction before racing again. A post-race veterinary examination of MUMMULGUM failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
OUTBACK FLASH (R. McMahon) began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping MUMMULGUM.
SPIRIT OF AMBER (M. Palmer) blundered on jumping away.
Apprentice K. Matheson reported that he was unable to settle CAMPIONESSA in the early and middle stages, which resulted in him leading by a considerable distance. K. Matheson was of the opinion that this contributed to CAMPIONESSA being unable to finish the race off as expected.
MY LITTLE MACHINE (G. Goold) was obliged to alter course approaching the 400m to avoid the OUTBACK FLASH, which was weakening.
DADSAIDJETTA (G. Killen) raced in restricted room between SPIRIT OF AMBER and MOCK ME NOT (R. Wiggins) over the concluding stages and as a result jockey Killen was unable to ride DADSAIDJETTA out to the end of the race.
A post-race veterinary examination of OUTBACK FLASH, which compounded from the 500m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Currie indicated he would give consideration to retiring OUTBACK FLASH. Mr Currie was nevertheless advised that should OUTBACK FLASH continue to race, it would be restricted to country meetings until it improved its performances.
When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance of ALAZANI, E. Wilkinson stated that the filly was lacking maturity in that it raced greenly in the early and middle stages of the race. He added that leaving the 500m he suffered some minor interference from OUTBACK FLASH, which had commenced to weaken at that point. As a consequence, jockey Wilkinson was not entirely disappointed with the performance of ALAZANI.
A post-race veterinary examination of MUMMULGUM failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 4: Rhino Wrap QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1000m
NINEYNINE PERCENT (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.
Near the 700m, CHOISENEGGER (D. Browne) shifted in and away from CHRYSIN (E. Wilkinson) and bumped REAL DREAMS (A. Coome). As a consequence, CHOISENEGGER became unbalanced for a short distance.
REAL DREAMS and NINETYNINE PERCENT bumped on a number of occasions leaving the 600m.
Near the 300m, REAL DREAMS (A. Coome) shifted out and hampered SHE’S A DANICA (R. Wiggins).
Over the concluding stages CHRYSIN had to be eased from the heels of TINTS (B. Appo).
LOADED AND READY (R. McMahon) was inclined to lay in approaching the 200m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHOISENEGGER, D. Browne stated that the colt overraced in the early and middle stages and was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. D. Browne was of the opinion that the addition of blinkers today contributed to the racing manners of CHOISENEGGER. The stable representative for trainer J. McLachlan, agreed with the comments of jockey Browne and indicated that they would consider removing the blinkers from the gear of CHOISENEGGER for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of CHOISENEGGER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 5: Brisbane Injury Lawyers Class 1 H'cap - 1000m
DANSAL (B. Appo) was slow to begin.
Near the 700m, BJORN (G. Goold) became awkward for a short distance.
L. Cassidy reported that after beginning well JOINT INITIATIVE raced strongly in the early stages and as a result he was obliged to race 3 wide without cover.
MAGGIE’S PRIDE (K. Matheson) hung out in the middle stages.
DASH FOR DOLLAR (R. McMahon) raced greenly in the home straight.
When questioned regarding the performance of DANSAL, apprentice B. Appo stated that after being slow to begin the filly travelled only fairly in the early and middle stages and failed to finish the race off as expected. Trainer R. Wilson noted that DANSAL was first up today over 1000m and would improve when stepped up in distance. Mr Wilson was of the view that with DANSAL being slow to begin, combined with the pattern of the race, made it difficult for DANSAL to make up ground in the run to the line. Therefore Mr Wilson was not entirely disappointed with the performance of DANSAL today.
D. Missen, rider of KHAANTANTES, was fined $100 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Race 6: Jim McKeering Real Estate Class 4 H'cap - 1400m
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of the 4th placegetter, I’M BUSTED, to view an incident near the 400m to ascertain if they had grounds to lodge a protest against HEARTFELT QUEST being declared 2nd. Subsequently, they declined to lodge a protest.
MY KING OATH (J. Morris) was slow to begin.
I’M BUSTED (P. Hammersley) and BRILLIANT DRAGON (J. Byrne) bumped soon after the start.
Leaving the 400m, I’M BUSTED (P. Hammersley) attempted to shift to the outside of PROTO (T. Wolfgram) to obtain clear running, however at the same stage HEARTFELT (M. Hellyer) shifted in and made heavy contact with I’M BUSTED, resulting In I’M BUSTED having to be checked to avoid the heels of PROTO. I’M BUSTED was then held up for a considerable distance. M. Hellyer, rider of HEARTFELT QUEST, was reprimanded and advised to make greater effort to prevent his mount shifting ground in future. In determining this matter, stewards were of the view that I’M BUSTED had not obtained clear running to the outside of PROTO prior to the interference, and furthermore there was a marginal shift out from PROTO, which may have contributed to the incident.
Near the 300m, PROTO (T. Wolfgram) shifted in and bumped FOR MIA (G. Goold).
J. Morris, rider of MY KING OATH, lost the use of his near-side iron over the concluding stages.
HEARTFELT QUEST (M. Hellyer) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Dina Duff Memorial Benchmark 80 H'cap - 1200m
KEEP IT MOIST (K. Matheson) began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping FAVELA STAR (B. Appo).
KEEP IT MOIST overraced in the early stages.
DANYME (P. Hammersley) was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight when disappointed for a run between FAVELA STAR and COMAHNI (L. Cassidy).
DANYME was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
P. Hammersley, rider of DANYME, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 200m he directed his mount outwards to obtain clear running to the outside of COMAHNI and as a result made heavy contact with KEEP IT MOIST, which was then taken out on to NAYNAY (M. Hellyer). As a result, KEEP IT MOIST was buffeted for room and became unbalanced. P. Hammesley was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 4 May and to expire at midnight, 16 May.
KEEP IT MOIST (K. Matheson) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
DIAMOND PURSUIT (D. Browne) was inclined to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages.
MASSURI (A. Coome) was held up for the majority of the home straight and as a result was unable to be fully tested in the run to the line.
NAYNAY raced wide throughout.
Race 8: Gabriel Ruddy & Garret Solicitors Class 2 H'cap – 1200m
PRETTY GULLY (L. Cassidy) was checked at the start between ROYAL CRUSADER (K. Wharton) and KORNFELD (J. Byrne), which shifted in abruptly.
MERCURY JET (A. Coome) began awkwardly and a short distance later was tightened for room between EDDIE (E. Wilkinson) and GOTITALLWRONG (K. Matheson), which shifted out.
R. Wiggins reported that PROOF OF LIFE commenced to hang out badly leaving the 800m and as a consequence proved difficult to ride.
Leaving the 700m, MERCURY JET had to be steadied off the heels of EDDIE (E. Wilkinson) when the pace eased. ROYAL CRUSADER, which was following, was obliged to shift out as a consequence.
PRETTY GULLY (L. Cassidy) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
Near the 300m, PRETTY GULLY shifted out to obtain clear running to the outside of PLATINUM LION (D. Missen) and in doing so bumped EDDIE (E. Wilkinson), which was taken out on to PROOF OF LIFE (R. Wiggins), which became unbalanced. RED HOT DAZZLER (R. McMahon) and ROYAL CRUSADER (K. Wharton) which were improving to the outside of PROOF OF LIFE, were inconvenienced as a consequence.
RED HOT DAZZLER was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
KORNFELD (J. Byrne) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until leaving the 200m.
