GENERAL

As J. Stanley was currently under suspension and had not been granted a stay pending appeal, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Prior to the start of Race 1, it was brought to the attention of the stewards that a number of barrier attendants had a dispute with the Sunshine Coast Turf Club, resulting in a shortage of barrier attendants for today’s meeting. In consultation with the riders and Club officials, stewards permitted the meeting to proceed when additional barrier attendants were engaged. Accordingly, the start of Race 1 was delayed, and after consultation with Sky Racing, race times were amended as follows:

Race 1. 1.08pm
Race 2. 2.00pm
Race 3. 2.35pm
Race 4. 3.10pm
Race 5. 3.50pm
Race 6. 4.30pm
Race 7. 5.05pm (under lights)
Race 8. 5.45pm (under lights)

Race 1: WWW.SCTC.COM.AU MAIDEN H’CAP - 1000m

A further delay was caused to the start of this race when SIMBAROSA (R. Wiggins), which became fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

PRIME QUEST (P. Schmidt) was slow to begin.

GAYLEN (J. Byrne) began awkwardly.

BIANROSES (M. Hellyer) began awkwardly and lost ground.

PETERBONETTI (R. McMahon) became unbalanced near the 700m and had to be steadied.

GAYLEN overraced in the early stages.

CALL ME RUSTY (D. Browne), SARAZEN (R. Jamieson) and RAPID ARROW (T. Harrison) raced wide for the majority of the event.

PETERBONETTI was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

RAPID ARROW shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 2: BECOME A MEMBER OF SCTC QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1200m

As R. McMahon was unable to fulfil his engagement on ALONDRA due to the amendment in the starting time of this event, P. Hammersley was substituted as the rider of that filly.

NYANDA CROSSING (T. Harrison) began awkwardly and lost ground.

PANGIA PRINCE (R. Hancock) was slow into stride.

NORTHERN LOGIC (L. Rolls), EL TORANADO (E. Wilkinson) and ALIBOTA (C. Jokic) overraced in the early stages.

CASARATI (J. Morris) and SHOWAMIA (C. McIver) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 300m LOCOMOTION (M. Cahill) shifted out in order to improve and in doing so bumped the hind quarters of EL TORANADO, resulting in EL TORANADO becoming unbalanced, shifting in and forcing LOCOMOTION inwards across the heels of ONE GREY (J. Byrne).

Race 3: SKY RACING QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1200m

MUSCLE AND MOTION (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

EASTERN PRINCE (Michael Palmer) and HALLSIDE ROSE (L. Rolls) bumped on jumping away.

THAT’S WHATYOUNEED (R. Jamieson) and BOLTS'N'HOLTS (P. Hammersley) were both tightened on jumping away between LOCHTORIO (T. Harrison) and BERNASEKI (A. Spinks), which shifted in.

When the pace of the race slackened near the 1000m, BOLTS'N'HOLTS, BEIJING DANCER (K. Matheson) and CLAYPOOL all commenced to overrace for a short distance.

BERNASEKI raced wide throughout the event.

Near the 300m CLAYPOOL was eased when attempting to take a run between LOCHTORIO and BOLTS'N'HOLTS, which shifted out and away from KISS MY BRASS (E. Wilkinson). As a result, CLAYPOOL was obliged to shift out across the heels of LOCHTORIO in order to obtain clear running.

LOCHTORIO was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the final 200m.

DON’T TELL CYRIL overraced during the early stages.

Apprentice K. Matheson, the rider of ANNIE’S BRIDGE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of SUZANNE, resulting in SUZANNE having to be checked to avoid the heels of ANNIE’S BRIDGE. Apprentice Matheson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday 5 May and expire at midnight on Friday 17 May 2013.

Race 6: REED PROPERTY GROUP C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1200m

Leaving the 800m LINVILLE (T. Harrison) raced in restricted room to the inside of CAPTAIN FRANCIS (R. Jamieson), which was inclined to lay in and away from OMISSION (J. Morris).

I SMARTICUS (M. Cahill) had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance on entering the straight.

TORCELLO had difficulty obtaining clear running from leaving the 300m and near the 200m was disappointed further when attempting to take a run between HAMMERSMITH and FLYING INDY (G. Killen), which shifted out slightly, and went to the line without being fully tested.
