GENERAL

As J. Byrne was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards' Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Seaview Resort Mooloolaba Maiden H'cap – 1600m

MIAGRACE (T. Bell) raced wide throughout.

J. Stanley was questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on CATADAM in the home straight, particularly his lack of vigour. He advised that, in his opinion, CATADAM travelled well from leaving the 600m on the back of THAT’LLBGOOD (M. McKenzie), the eventual winner, and from leaving the 300m he felt he had this horse covered, however when placed under pressure soon after CATADAM raced greenly, which prevented him from riding the gelding out in his usual manner. Whilst noting the racing characteristics of CATADAM, stewards nonetheless reminded J. Stanley of his obligations to ride his mounts in a manner which did not leave himself open to question.

Race 2: Suncare Community Services Class 3 H'cap – 1400m

Trainer T. Edmonds advised that whilst LINVILLE settled last and won at its last start at the Gold Coast on 2 November, with today’s small field of 6 he would not be issuing any specific instructions as to where the gelding would settle. LINVILLE subsequently settled midfield.

Leaving the 300m, RED HOT DAZZLER (R. McMahon) and ZENAWOMANN (M. McKenzie) bumped on a number of occasions.
A post race veterinary examination of RED HOT DAZZLER revealed the horse was suffering from heat stress.

A post race veterinary examination of LINVILLE revealed the horse to be exhibiting delayed recovery rate.

Race 3: Australian Weaving Mills Maiden Plate – 1200m

A pre race veterinary examination of MALLEABLE was carried out after the jockey reported that the horse felt awkward in its action in its preliminary to the barriers. MALLEABLE was subsequently cleared the horse to start.

GONE HA HA (E. Wilkinson) was slow into stride.

Leaving the 800m, PRINCESS BOONDOCK (A. Allen) commenced to race ungenerously and shifted in and had to be steadied from the heels of PALACE WHISPERS (L. Tarrant).

Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on PRINCESS BOONDOCK, which raced uncompetitively.

MALLEABLE, and PALACE WHISPERS lost their near hind plates in running.

A post race veterinary examination of ALL IN ALL revealed it to be sore in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance will be required for ALL IN ALL prior to its next race start.

Race 4: KPMG Sunshine Coast QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1000m

Due to lighting strikes in the immediate area the starting time for this race was reschedule to the starting time for Race 5, with races 6 and 7 delayed one race time, with a starting time for Race 8 reschedule to 5.10pm.

The start of this race was delayed when E. Wilkinson was dislodged from OMMITTANCE when proceeding to the barriers. OMMITTANCE then galloped for some distance and proved difficult to be recaptured. OMMITTANCE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.51pm.

All monies invested on Omittance were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to successful wagers placed prior to 2.51pm.

0 cent in the dollar for the Win #7
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #7
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #9
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #11

SP bets are not subject to deductions.

Trainer K. Munce was advised that an official warning would be placed on OMMITTANCE regarding its pre race manners.

As the start was effected, COUNT D’AGUILAR (K. Wharton), which was fractious in the barriers, got its head down and lost considerable ground at the start. Trainer L. Birchley will be advised that an official warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the horse.

WEWONYA (L. Tarrant) was slow into stride.

ICE CREAM GIRL (K. Yoshida) began awkwardly and shifted out.

Leaving the 500m, THOMAS THE TANK (A. Butler) was inclined to lay out under pressure and did so for the remainder of the race, and near the 300m, shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and hampered SIEGFRIED (T. Bell), forcing that horse out on to the hind quarters of MENACING (M. Cahill), which became unbalanced.

MYSTERY ANGEL (B. Richardson) raced wide throughout.

T. Harrison reported at scale that ZINGY GIRL was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race.

Race 5: Leading Raw Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

Trainer L. Gough was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for NUG’S POCKET by the prescribed time.

STORM (T. Bell) was inclined to lay out in the home straight.

Stewards questioned M. Cahill regarding the performance of NUG’S POCKET. M. Cahill stated that after beginning well and travelling a short distance it was evident to him he would be caught wide and so elected to restrain to take a position closer to the rail. Jockey Cahill further stated that when placed under pressure in the home straight, NUG’S POCKET responded to his riding and, in his opinion, finished the race off well.

Race 6: Ray White Class 2 H'cap – 2200m

Jockey Michael Palmer was fined $100 for being unable to fulfil his engagement on GRAPPA due to being overweight.

ROCK THIS WORLD (R. Payne) was tightened for room on jumping away between ZAGAMI (M. McKenzie) and VAN HOOLIGAN (L. Tarrant), both of which shifted ground.

MAGIC GONSKI (T. Jeffries) raced wide in the early stages.

ROCK THIS WORLD was retired from the event near the 300m. A post race veterinary examination of ROCK THIS WORLD revealed the gelding had sustained an injury to its near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for ROCK THIS WORLD, and that the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Stewards, after taking evidence from trainer Mr S. Stanek, adjourned an inquiry into the conditioning, fitness and training of ROCK THIS WORLD leading up to this event.

B. Stewart, rider of MOPORENA, will be interviewed regarding his use of the whip in the straight.

Race 7: Guide Dogs Queensland BM80 H'cap – 1200m

IT’S ON THE POCKET (M. Cahill) overaced in the early and middle stages.

PATAPINDA (E. Wilkinson) commenced to overraced leaving the 600m for a short distance.

Race 8: Give To Guide Dogs Qld Class 1 H'cap – 1400m

CRAFTY’S LAST (R. Payne) was slow into stride.

Leaving the 800m, LOTUS EATER (D. McWhinney) commenced to overrace.
