Race 1: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST PLATE – 1000M
As J. Morris failed to fulfil his engagement as the rider of GRAND CHEVAL he was replaced by L. Rolls. J. Morris was fined the sum of $100.00.
LUCKY AHWI – Slow to begin.
BOLD ASSIGNMENT – Hampered on jumping away
GRAND CHEVAL – Jumped away awkwardly
IPPY GIRL – Bumped heavily near 700m and lost ground.
CONTINENTAL SILK – Shifted out abruptly near 700m to avoid heels.
NO LUST LOST – Raced ungenerously throughout the race, hung out after leaving the 700m and made the home turn wide. Shifted in abruptly near 200m. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised the mare must officially trial to stewards satisfaction prior to being permitted to race again.
Race 2: CALOUNDRA RSL SERVICES CLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M
EDITOR’S GIFT – Slow to begin.
TWO WAY STREET – Jumped away awkwardly bumping another runner. Had to be restrained from heels from leaving the 700m until near the 600m. Near 150m, shifted out and bumped another runner.
ZAGAZIG – Bumped near 150m.
MISS REMY – Raced wide without cover for majority of race.
CANNY EXCEL – Raced wide without cover for majority of race.
V. Venkaya, rider of POP BUBBLE POP lost the use of his offside rein in the early stages of the home straight placing him at disadvantage and causing him to shift wider on the track.
Race 3: HALLCO ENGINEERING PTY LTD CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M
ASTATUS – Slow to begin
MERCURY JET – Slow to begin. Steadied near 800m when racing in restricted room.
CRAIGLEA VANCE – Raced wide with cover for majority of race.
DREAM OF SLIPS - Overraced for short distance leaving 800m.
ONE IN ONE OUT – Overraced for short distance leaving 800m.
SHEEZA MYZZILE – Rider advised that, in his opinion, the horse did not handle today’s rain affected conditions. Trainer B. Baldwin agreed with those comments, and undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that comes to light that may have had a bearing on today's performance.
Race 4: JLP FABRICATION CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
Trainer B. Gill was fined $100.00 for failing to provide the I.D card for CELTIC DRAGON.
The start of this race was delayed to await the conclusion on an interstate racing venue.
PANTALETTES – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner.
WINNER WIMMER – Bumped at the start. Raced three wide without cover for majority of race.
NARSONS DUKE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider reported the gelding raced awkwardly following this incident and in his opinion may have injured itself. A post race veterinary examination revealed NARSONS DUKE to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer D. Hansen was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
ALL FIVES – Steadied near 900m when placed in restricted room to the inside of another runner.
SHEPIKTUS – Rider advised that, in his opinion, the horse did not handle today’s rain affected conditions.
Following the running of this race stewards became aware that PANTALETTES may have been kicked by the Clerk of the Course’s horse during its preliminary. Stewards interviewed jockey M. Hellyer who indicated that his horse did come into close proximity with the Clerk of the Course’s horse, however he did not believe that the horse had been kicked. As a result of this incident, he did, when arriving at the barriers, ask the Clerk of the Course to inspect PANTALETTES and as no apparent evidence was found that the horse had been kicked, and as he was satisfied that the horse had paraded well to the barriers, he took the matter no further . Stewards gave consideration to jockey Hellyer’s evidence, and given the circumstances, reprimanded him for failing to draw this incident to the attention of the starter.
After this race the track was upgraded to a Dead (5).
Race 5: PERRY’S SUNSHINE COAST EVENT HIRE MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M
PINTERRA – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a position worse than midfield if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
The start of this race was delayed to await the conclusion on an interstate racing venue.
RAVE ON – Tightened for room at the start and had to be steadied. Inconvenienced by another runner and steadied leaving the 500m.
ROUGH KISS – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.
MINKUS – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.
NINE TIMES – After being positioned wide in the early stages, the horse was ridden aggressively to assume the lead after passing the 1200m.
SACKFUL – Shifted in and away from another runner near the 1100m despite the efforts of its rider.
PURE SENSE – Checked to avoid heels near the 1100m. Checked when tightened for room near the 500m.
MARKRAM – Shifted in near the 500m, inconveniencing another runner.
RUNNING ON EMPTY – Shifted out near the 500m, inconveniencing another runner.
CALENDAR BABE – Inconvenienced by another runner and steadied leaving the 500m.
GANGSTA – Inconvenienced near the 400m and shifted out. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
HEARTOFTHEOUTBACK – Laid out under pressure on the home straight. Trainer L. Ross advised it would now be sent for a spell.
BECKONING CAT – Inconvenienced near the 400m.
RUNNING ON EMPTY – Lost ground quickly from the 600m and finished a distant last. C. Schmidt reported to stewards that connections indicated to her that it would be the intention for the gelding to be retired from racing. Connections were nevertheless advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.
STORMY LEO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
LIBERTY MARKET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 6: IN MEMORY OF ROSS MITCHELL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1400M
Trainer T. White was fined $100.00 for failing to declare L. Rolls as the rider of KUTCHER by the prescribed time.
C. Van Der Werf was fined $100 for being unable to claim her full allowance on CAIDEN’S GOLD.
The start of this race was delayed to await the conclusion of an interstate racing venue.
POPSTAR PETE – Slow to begin.
FRISCO JOE – Had difficulty securing clear running from approaching the 200m until leaving the 100m.
Race 7: QUALITY PLASTICS PRODUCTS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1600M
CRIMSON FORCE – Slow to begin.
WIMPOLE STREET – Shifted out to improve and in doing so made heavy contact with another runner on a number of occasions.
LOTUS EATER – Bumped heavily on a number of occasions and forced wider near the 500m.
REFUSTRESS – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
MADHURIMA – Apprentice M. McKenzie was reprimanded for failing to weigh in 4th.
Race 8: SIGNWAVE SUNSHINE COAST BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1800M
CRAIGLEA SHERRY – Slow to begin.
ACTING KING – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BLACK NINJA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
LENTINI MIST – Steadied approaching the 400m when tightened for room.
HOW FAIRDINKUM – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
VICTORVETO – Shifted out to secure clear running approaching the 400m causing tightening to another runner. Rider S. Fawke was reprimanded.
