McMahon was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that when riding his mount along, which was inclined to lay in, and after being corrected near the 700m, then allowed the filly to shift in, tightening the running of JUST KEEP GIVING, which resulted in that horse running out of room and having to be checked between ATALAGA and SHE BRINGS JOY. Harrison was charged with careless riding, in that leaving the 200m she allowed his mount to shift in under pressure, which resulted in a tightening to PIE LADY, obliging its jockey to take hold of his mount and lose ground at this stage. PIE LADY – Stewards asked E. Wilkinson to comment on the below market expectation performance. Jockey Wilkinson stated after allowing BALGOWNIE to cross in the early stages and take up a trailing position, and when NADA TO PRADA improved to his outside, he said that his mount, in his opinion, did not feel comfortable when racing in this position. Stewards interviewed jockey R. McMahon regarding his riding of that mare from the 600m. He stated that after shifting away from the fence to improve into the race near the 500m, he was unable to shift any wider on the track as CARNECAR was positioned to his outside. He then added that for the remainder of the straight he was attempting to secure clear running between GALLIVANTING and SPIRIT TORQUE, however was disappointed for this run when SPIRIT TORQUE shifted out slightly. He further added that he then attempted to secure clear running outside GALLIVANTING and again was disappointed and had to be steadied near the 100m from that horse’s heels. He was of the view that he only obtained clear running over the final 20 metres of the race. After considering the video footage, stewards were satisfied with the explanation tendered by jockey McMahon and took no further action.
