Jockey J. Baker was fined $200 under AR 160 B(3) in that he had a mobile phone in his possession in the jockey’s room.
Race 1: XXXX Gold/ Bandanna Energy Class b Handicap- 900 metres
1st –CRYSTALS ‘N’ PEARSL 2nd – DANE VICTORY 3rd – DEVIL’S HALO 4th- DISTORTED CROWN
INDY’S BULLION (C. Pye) began awkwardly.
SHEARER’S MAGIC (D. Simmons) stumbled on jumping and laid out around the home turn.
DISTORTED CROWN (D. Evans) was a little awkward to begin.
DEVIL’S HALO (J. Baker) jumped in onto MISS NOTE (S. Sheargold).
Approaching the 600 metres, MISS NOTE hung out and raced wide for the remainder of the race.
A DEAL OF HONOUR (R. Sue-san) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Marty & Kath Shelton Memorial Cup QTIS Maiden Plate- 900 metres
1st – C’MON YVONNE 2nd – THE ALAMO 3rd – PINCQAR 4th – SPIRIT BEAT
As Jockey C Bryen reported to Stewards that he would be overweight on C’MON YVONNE and no senior riders were available, Stewards permitted App M McGillivray to be substituted. Jockey Bryen was fined $100 (AR 120(b))
DREAM RIDE (C. Pye) was slow into stride.
THREERIVERSHOTEL (D. Evans) hung out in the middle stages.
Jockey J Baker reported that SPRIRIT BEAT was inclined to hang in in the straight and unable to be ridden out with vigour.
Race 3: Travers Transport/ Rolleston Coal BM 65 Handicap- - 1100 metres
1st – RAHULA 2nd –BEAUX STRATA 3rd –VAIN DAZZLER 4th – HAYYLER’S DRAGON
Stewards opened an inquiry into the nomination, acceptance and scratching of RAZOR GANG. After taking initial evidence from Trainer W Meek, Stewards adjourned the inquiry until a later date.
SAINT BELLE reared over in the enclosure, dislodged Jockey D Evans, and was reluctant to proceed to start. On undergoing a veterinary inspection at the barriers, the mare was declared a late scratching at 2.58pm acting on the vet’s advice.
Connections were advised a certificate of fitness would be required prior to its next race start.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on SAINT BELLE be refunded and the following deductions were to apply to winning bets;
RAHULA- 21cents Win, 26 cents Place
BEAUX STRATA- 26 cents Place
No racing incidents.
Race 4: Minerva Mine BM 55 Handicap- 1400 metres
1st – RYTARGA 2nd – TOP BUTTON 3rd – BAROQUE STAR 4th – MAGIC WALTZ
Trainer W. Baker was reprimanded for the late declaration of R. Faehr on GOLDEN VOGUE.
QUECHUA (J. Baker) was slow to begin. A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 5: Dooley’s Tavern & Motel Bracelet BM 70 Handicap- 1400 metres
1st – MONCHING 2nd – MISTABLISTA 3rd –TASTEOFENERGY 4th – TATYOON
RUSHATUS (S. Sheargold) began a little awkwardly.
Jockey J. Baker was fined $100 for weighing in one kilogram over his allotted weight. (AR 145).
