SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Race 1: SILVER SPONSORS STAKE MAIDEN PLATE 800M.

The rider of ROCKIN ALISON Jockey Ms J. Brown advised stewards that in her opinion the filly did not want to lead despite the good gate and the riders efforts to do so. The filly seemed to resent the substantial kick back and did lay out from the early to middle stages of the event.

The rider of LITTLE FOU Apprentice Jockey Ms A. Fancourt advised Stewards that she would like to view the patrol film available of the final 400M of the event. After viewing this film, Ms Fancourt lodged an objection against CLEVER TRICK (Appr. Ms B. Stower) being declared the winner, alleging interference between the 300M and the 200M point and again at approximately the 80- 100M point.

Stewards heard submissions form both riders and statements from trainers of the respective horses and viewed the official patrol footage. Stewards did acknowledge the marginal shift in by CLEVER TRICK at the 250M point and point of the race. Stewards did accept that Apprentice Jockey Ms A. Fancourt was held up and did have to stop riding momentarily. In the opinion of stewards LITTLE FOU had a clear running from the 200M to the 100M point and observed that the horse did not improve sufficiently. Stewards further acknowledged that again at the 80M point CLEVER TRICK did shift in marginally and did tighten and may have made marginal contact momentarily with LITTLE FOU. Stewards in considering all points of the objection were not satisfied that the interference sustained by LITTLE FOU exceeded the margin between both horses at the finish and therefore dismissed the protest. Correct weight was declared and the placing’s stood.

Apprentice Jockey Ms B. Stower was reprimanded under AR 137 (a) for careless riding and ordered to exercise more care in the future.

Race 2: FARMOZ QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons for DHACOURT (J. Brown) and PERFECT PUZZLE (Appr.Ms B. Stower) falling approaching the 700M. After taking evidence from Apprentice H. Kim (NATURAL MIST), R. Kerwin (UNCHAINED), Apprentice M. McGillivray (DISTORTED CROWN), G. Geran (RODEL) and Apprentice B. Stower (PERFECT PUZZLE), the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to have jockey J. Brown present to provide evidence.

Ms Brown was treated at the scene by the attending Ambulance Officials and then conveyed to the Surat Hospital for further treatment.

After this incident, PERFECT PUZZLE veered off the course and broke through the plastic temporary outside running rail. As the horse attempted to re- enter the course it appeared to sustain a significant injury the off fore-leg. The horse was euthanased by the attending veterinarian on humane grounds.

UNCHAINED (Ms R. Kerwin) became unbalanced momentarily shortly after the incident when it approached the 700M point, UNCHAINED had to veer out abruptly to avoid the fallen riders.

RODEL (G. Geran) was forced to travel wide from the 700M to avoid the fallen riders.

NATURAL MIST hung out from the 400M.

A post race veterinary examination of DHACOURT revealed a haematoma and lacerations to the off hind leg and was lame. Trainer M. Goodwin will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required before DHACOURT races again.

Race 3: SURAT DIGGERS CUP BM 65 HANDICAP 1400M

The start of this race was delayed to allow for Ambulance officials to return to the track.

Jockey J. Brown was transported to Surat Hospital for treatment for the injuries she sustained in Race 2. Rider replacements we made as per the stewards summary.

Apprentice Jockey Ms B. Stower was passed fit by the Ambulance officials to for fill her riding engagements for the remainder of this meeting.

TELESIUS (Appr. H. Kim) was slow to begin.

TEAM THUNDERSTONE (D. McIntosh) was slowly away.

FALONTINO (Appr. Ms B. Stower) raced wide from the middle stages of the event.

The rider of HI HI, T. Banks reported to Stewards that his mount began slowly and appeared to stumble and then hung out badly from the 800M point to approximately the 400M point.

Race 4: AGL CLASS B HANDCAP 1200M

FLYING PENANT (Ms R. Kerwin) began well, but failed to go the early speed.

SYRUS (G. Geran) and CARRY THE PRESENT (D. McIntosh) were tightened for room shortly after jumping.

MY MONICA (App. M.McGillivary) and FLYING PENNANT raced tightly in the early stages.

Race 5: SURAT HEALTH SERVICES HANDICAP 1200M

WIGPOOL (Appr. M. McGillivray) jumped in shortly after the start which resulted in CHEQUE FOR FREEDOM (D. McIntosh) being crowded and tightened for room between WIGPOOL and BRADBURY CHOCOLATE (Appr. Ms Brooke Stower).
