SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards ordered a Veterinary examination of BROKEN DREAMS be performed due to an old injury being observed on the horse’s chest. The horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian and was passed fit to start in the event.
Race 1: PHILIP BRODIE/ SCHUBERT, GRAY &ASSOC. NEW ROYAL HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE 800M
SINCHILLA travelled wide over the final stages of the event.
Correct weight was delayed due to the rider of GANADO EXPRESS Apprentice Jockey M. McGillivray seeking to view the photo finish image. After viewing the photo finish image available Apprentice Jockey McGillivray lodged a submission with Stewards that he had finished ahead of the third place- getter EVERINGHAM.
Stewards held an enquiry into the matter and after hearing the evidence from all parties and subsequently viewing the photo finish image available to them; Stewards under AR 156 could not be reasonably satisfied that the judges had made a mistake and declared the Judges placing’s would stand and declared correct weight.
Race 2: ADAMA/MARK JOHNSTONE TPT/ STATHAM CHEESEMAN QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M
STRONG BLACK made heavy contact with AFFECTIONATE ONE on jumping resulting in AFFECTIONATE ONE losing considerable ground.
Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr B. Waldron regarding the seemingly disappointing run of PLATTERS. Mr Waldron stated the horse appeared to resent the kickback and this may have contributed to the horse’s disappointing run at today’s meeting.
Correct weight was delayed to enable Jockey G. Geran and Apprentice
Jockey M.McGillivary to view the Patrol film available to them. Both riders were satisfied with the finish and Stewards declared correct weight.
Jockey Ms R. Kerwin became ill soon after weighing in. She was examined by the Club Doctor and attending ambulance staff and Ms Kerwin was stood down by Stewards for the remainder of the program. Rider changes as per the Stewards Summary.
Race 3: SURAT DIGGERS CUP BM 65 HANDICAP 1400M
BILLY GOAT jumped in the air at the start and then made contact with THE WATER BOMBER which jumped in marginally.
Race 4: ST GEORGE MACHINERY/ FLOWER EARTHMOVING/ FORMOSA FARMING CLASS B HANDCAP 1200M
STICK FIGHTER stumbled shortly after the start and dislodged the rider Apprentice Jockey Ms N Morton. Ms Morton was treated at the scene by the attending Ambulance Officials and then conveyed to the Surat Hospital for further treatment. Stewards will notify Ms Morton as soon as practical that she will require a medical clearance prior to her next riding engagement. Rider changes as per the Stewards Summary.
The riderless STICK FIGHTER drifted in over the final stages and did inconvenience JANDY GIRL who was forced to shift ground and as a result did slightly inconvenience ANSOUIS.
Race 5: TOM DARLINGTON TPT/ AWB MCINNES WILSON HANDICAP 1200M
BIG BAD JOEL shifted out marginally over the concluding stages.
