RACE 1. YATES PIZZA & TAKEWAY CLASS B HCP 900M
1st TAMAMUSHI 2nd CASUAL CONNECTIONS 3rd ENCOURAGABLE 4th MARY THE CAT

ENCOURAGABLE (R Mercer) was slow to jump and then shifted inwards. ENCOURAGABLE made the home turn very wide.

MARY THE CAT (S EGAN) jumped awkwardly.

At the 850m MARY THE CAT (S Egan) shifted inwards placing PAMALINO ( C Eaton ) and MR GIGGLES ( P Romeo ) in restricted racing room, at the same time CASUAL CONNECTIONS ( Amy Taylor ) which was racing to the inside of MR GIGGLES, shifted out slightly causing MR GIGGLES and PAMALINO to be eased and lose ground. Subsequently S Egan was reprimanded for allowing MARY THE CAT to shift in when not clear of runners to his inside. Stewards in considering the incident were mindful that CASUAL CONNECTIONS did contribute to the incident by shifting outwards.

MR GIGGLES hung out at the 550m and inconvenienced PAMALINO.

CASUAL CONNECTIONS hung out on the home turn.

RACE 2. CITY PLASTERWORKS/LENNAER DRILLING QTIS MAIDEN 900M

1st CURIOSITY MISS 2nd VAL DE LYS 3rd BLACK MONTY 4th ALMARO

BARE FEET (C Eaton) was very slow into stride and finished a distant last. BARE FEET was examined by the veterinarian and found to be suffering from shin soreness in both front legs. Trainer R Hilton was advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness before BARE FEET is permitted to race again.

ALMARO (Amy Taylor) was slow to jump.

VAL DE LYS (M Gray) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

RACE 4. JEFF HANNAFORD TEXAS CUP OPEN HCP. 1200M
1st IMA JOKER 2nd RIOQUALO 3rd GREYZEEL 4th NATURALLY MINE

GREYZEEL (B Thomson) was slow into stride.

MINI MAIZING (C Eaton) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

IMA JOKER (R Mercer) rolled out rounding the home turn.

Over the last 100m MILITARY WAY (S Egan) shifted in tightening MINI MAIZING resulting in jockey C Eaton having to ease her mount at the 50m. Apprentice S Eagan was advised to exercise more care in future.

IMPENDING STORM (P Romeo) struck the running rail of its own accord at the 450m.

RACE 5. BRITTS DRILLING/TEAM TAXI/JIM THOMPSON CARPENTRY CLASS 3 HCP. 1200M
1st CHROMED 2nd SWEET HUSSY 3rd SUCHA COMMAND 4th ELLO ELLO

SWEET HUSSY (L Morrison) raced wide throughout.

Apprentice Alisha Taylor reported that HEART OF TEXAS was uncomfortable on the firm track surface.

BLACK PATCH (P Romeo) hung out during the race and the jockey dropped his whip at the 400m.

The trainer of CHROMED, G Wilson was questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding. Mr Wilson advised stewards that the horse needed a strong rider and was suited to today’s firm track conditions. He added that the horse did not handle the cushion track at Toowoomba previously and that CHROMED had worked well leading up to today’s race and felt that CHROMED had a good chance in today’s race. He confirmed the stable had supported the horse with a very small wager. Mr Wilson’s explanation was noted.
