1st TAMAMUSHI 2nd CASUAL CONNECTIONS 3rd ENCOURAGABLE 4th MARY THE CAT
ENCOURAGABLE (R Mercer) was slow to jump and then shifted inwards. ENCOURAGABLE made the home turn very wide.
MARY THE CAT (S EGAN) jumped awkwardly.
At the 850m MARY THE CAT (S Egan) shifted inwards placing PAMALINO ( C Eaton ) and MR GIGGLES ( P Romeo ) in restricted racing room, at the same time CASUAL CONNECTIONS ( Amy Taylor ) which was racing to the inside of MR GIGGLES, shifted out slightly causing MR GIGGLES and PAMALINO to be eased and lose ground. Subsequently S Egan was reprimanded for allowing MARY THE CAT to shift in when not clear of runners to his inside. Stewards in considering the incident were mindful that CASUAL CONNECTIONS did contribute to the incident by shifting outwards.
MR GIGGLES hung out at the 550m and inconvenienced PAMALINO.
CASUAL CONNECTIONS hung out on the home turn.

BLACK PATCH (P Romeo) hung out during the race and the jockey dropped his whip at the 400m.
The trainer of CHROMED, G Wilson was questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding. Mr Wilson advised stewards that the horse needed a strong rider and was suited to today’s firm track conditions. He added that the horse did not handle the cushion track at Toowoomba previously and that CHROMED had worked well leading up to today’s race and felt that CHROMED had a good chance in today’s race. He confirmed the stable had supported the horse with a very small wager. Mr Wilson’s explanation was noted.
