STEWARDS REPORT - SATURDAY, 7TH APRIL, 2001

WEATHER:. FINE TRACK: GOOD
GENERAL: An inquiry into the reason for Jockey W. Tomsett failure to fulfil engagements on the day was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed.
Stewards approved the following changes due to W. Tomsetts absence.
Race 1 ALLGREY Scratched (no other rider available)

Race 4 MAKE A GUESS E. Heinemann
As a result of injuries sustained at a track work incident on the 7/4/01 apprentice Lucy Timson was unable to fulfil her engagements. Stewards approved the following changes:
Race 1 YARPOLE Scratched (no other rider available)

Race 3 MIGHTY SPLENDENT M. Atkinson
Race 4 OUR CHARIOTEER S. Newton

Stewards inquired into the reason for jockey A. Williams’s failure to fulfil engagements at Thangool.
A. Williams stated he notified the club secretary prior to acceptance informing her of his intention to ride at Mackay. Stewards accepted his explanation and the following rider changes were approved:

Race 4 IRISH FLASH Ms E. Simmons
RACING
RACE 1 MAIDEN HCP.800 METRES - (11 STARTERS):. Both SMLE LIDO (M. Lehmann) and MISSINI (E. Heinemann) were slow to begin.
RACE 2 OPEN HCP. 800 METRES - (7 STARTERS):. Both WESTERN BAND (M. Barnham) and DISCIPLINARIAN (M. Atkinson) were slow to begin.
RACE 3 CLASS 4 HCP.1075 METRES - (7STARTERS): No racing incidents to report.
RACE 4 CLASS 6 HCP.1400 METRES - (11 STARTERS): OUR CHARIOTEER (S. Newton) and CLAYTON’S DAY (S. Quick) were both slow away.
TERRORIST (C. Bryen) jumped inwards at the start and bumped ANLON BAY (M. Barnham).
At approximately the 850 metre mark OUR CHARIOTEER shifted inwards and struck the running rail.
RACE 5 CLASS 2 HCP. 1200 METRES – (7 STARTERS): At the start JASON’S PEGASUS (M. Atkinson) jumped inwards and bumped THE TELLER (S. Newton).
At approximately the 900 metres THE TELLER shifted outwards to avoid the heels of JASON’S PEGASUS forcing SIR JEST (M. Barnham) to check.
BOOKMAKERS: Four bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and those obtained forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
