THANGOOL RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 4/11/03

STEWARDS PANEL: R Doyle (Chairman) N Vagg

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – TRUE

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE – 1075M
After being loaded, STARS ON TIME (S Quick) became fractious in the barriers, rearing and breaking through the barriers. Acting on advice of the club Veterinarian Surgeon, STARS ON TIME was withdrawn at 1.06pm.
Trainer’s representative Mr J Devine was advised that STARS ON TIME would be required to pass a further barrier test before next nominating.
On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on STARS ON TIME would be refunded with deductions of 31 cents in the $ for the win tickets applicable.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BUNDY ROSE, Jockey M Lehmann stated that the filly did not travel throughout the event and when placed under pressure in the straight it tended to lay out and race awkwardly. M Lehmann’s explanation was noted.

RACE 2: CLASS B H'CAP – 1200M
As Darren Rewald was to be overweight, Stewards permitted him to ride EMPEROR’S HOPE 2.5kg over, as there was no suitable rider to replace him.
Coming to the first turn SPECTACULAR ROSIE (M Evans) got its head up in the air and was inclined to lay out. D Rewald was fined the sum of $100 (AR120 (b)).

RACE 3: CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200M
On returning to scale a protest was lodged by David Rewald the rider of 4th placegetter MINSTRELLA against REGAL TOM (N Nelson) being declared 3rd alleging interference at the 150 metres. It was established that at the 150 metres, REGAL TOM did shift out under pressure causing minor inconvenience to MINSTRELLA. Stewards dismissed the objection giving ¾ length margin separating both horses at the finish.
Apprentice N Nelson was reprimanded.

RACE 4: CLASS 6 PLATE – 800M
No incidents

RACE 5: CLASS 2 – 800M
DON’T COMPLAIN (Darren Rewald) slow into stride.
