RACE 1 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 12 STARTERS
BORNEO BOY and UPTOWN BOY were both slow to begin. KEEN ON GOLD jumped out at the start hampering ALL CUT UP. A short distance later ALL CUT UP had to be steadied away from the heels of TYCOON TONY which shifted in. At the 1000 metres KEEN ON GOLD which was over racing was also steadied away from the heels of ALL CUT UP. Approaching the 900 metres GRAND SALIERI had to be checked when racing inside of HIGHEST POINT which shifted in. At an inquiry it was established that HIGHEST POINT had hung in despite the efforts of App D Crossland. At the 700 metres KEEN ON GOLD was steadied off the heels of ALL CUT UP and shifted out making contact with OUT OF THIS PLANET. Passing the 600 metres ALL CUT UP broke down in the near side fore leg dislodging Jockey M Cullen. OUT OF THIS PLANET was severely checked as a result of this incident. An inquiry into interference suffered by OUT OF THIS PLANET making the home turn has been adjourned until Tuesday 11/1/00. Passing the 250 metres KEEN ON GOLD which was tiring shifted out hampering FLEET ATTACK and OUT OF THIS PLANET. Jockey M Cullen was examined by the Ambulance Officer following this event and passed fit for further race rides. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ALL CUT UP had fractured its near fore leg and was euthanised.

RACE 2 3YO CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 7 STARTERS
Passing the 600 metres ALOE STAR commenced to concede ground. FLAME AND FORTUNE had to be steadied away from ALOE STAR’S heels as a consequence. An Inquiry was opened into the reason for CURTO NERO being checked approaching the 300 metre mark when attempting a run between ESPECIALE (R Gallacher) and BANSEL (P Cullen). After taking evidence from F Edwards (Curto Nero), R Gallacher and P Cullen the inquiry has been adjourned until Tuesday 11th January.

RACE 3 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
EARTHQUAKE blundered at the start losing ground. As the pace slackened at the 800 metres, ANOTHER SOUND shifted out around the heels of DUSTY OVERDRIVE forcing PORTRAIT MISS momentarily wide on the track. At the 650 metres DUSTY OVERDRIVE steadied off the heels of TANQUERAY (nz) as a consequence PRINCE BLAZE which was trailing had to be steadied.

RACE 4 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 11 STARTERS
AUSSIE GOLD and MY LEGEND were both tightened for room at the start between COOL AND REGAL and RUBIQUE ROYALE which jumped in. RESENT was slow to begin. AUSSIE GOLD and MY LEGEND both commenced to over race in the middle stages of the event. At the 850 metres ABEERAH had to be steadied when racing between RUBIQUE ROYALE and AUSSIE GOLD which shifted out marginally. C Lennon the rider of SAL D’AIR which was placed 5th by the Judge was questioned as to the reason he stopped riding his mount approximately 50 metres from the finishing line. After taking evidence from Jockey Lennon, Stewards issued him with a reprimand and he was advised that in simular circumstances to continue riding his mount out hands and heels until the completion of the event (AR 137 a).

RACE 5 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 9 STARTERS
HAYLAN CALL and CITIZEN SYD were both slow to begin.

RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 11 STARTERS
KILION, MR. MAX and UNIQUE UNION were all slow to begin. BEYOND SPACE jumped awkwardly and collided with the hind quarters of ALACRAN. At the 800 metres UNIQUE UNION ran wide when steadied off the heels of ALACRAN. P Cullen the rider of the 4th placegetter POWLETT MEWS lodged a protest against the 3rd placegetter BOLD PLAY (GD Kliese) for alleged interference at the 150 metre mark. After taking evidence from both riders the Protest was dismissed and judges placings confirmed. An Inquiry into the reason that POWLETT MEWS was tightened for room at the 150 has been adjourned until a time and date to be fixed to enable Jockey R Gallacher (MR ROGERS) to be in attendance. The whip of Jockey GD Kliese broke at the 100 metre mark. Following this event Jockey R Gallacher was indisposed after suffering the effects of a recurring rib injury. R Gallacher will be required to provide a Medical Certificate of fitness before being permitted to ride again.

RACE 7 CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1650 METRES 11 STARTERS
Jockey F Edwards replaced R Gallacher on COASTAL IMAGE COASTAL IMAGE was slow to begin. Making the home turn JUST SLIDE shifted out to improve and forged TOGNOTTI wider on the track. At the 200 metres TOGNOTTI shifted in and made contact with AL ‘N’ TELL (C Lennon) .

All winners were sent to be swabbed.
