Rail: Out 3 metres from the 1000 metres to the winning post.
Riding Changes: As Jockey R Gallacher was indisposed he was replaced on the following horses: Race 1 FARE EVADER A Molino, Race 3 SAY’S WHO D Canny, Race 7 TRIDEKA A Molino. Jockey R Moses was also replaced on PEKABAR (Race 2 and Race3) VAIN VIRGINIAN by S Watkins.

RACE 1 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 10 STARTERS
GRAND FLOWER jumped awkwardly into the side of the barriers and lost ground. Shortly after the start SAYID, FARE EVADER and IRUKA all brushed. At the 850 metres SAYID shifted in and made heavy contact with FARE EVADER. It was noted that IRUKA was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and had to be checked off the heels of FAIR EVADER at the 150 metre mark when attempting to gain a clear run.

RACE 2 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 11 STARTERS
Jockey J Cairns replaced G Kliese on QUICK WINA when Jockey G Kliese could not make the weight. Jockey G Kliese was fined $50 for accepting a ride when he was over weight AR120(b). Passing the 250 metre mark MORONIE shifted out hampering QUICK WINA.

RACE 3 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 10 STARTERS
Trainer J Barr was fined $50 for failing to lodge a transfer of ownership for BLUE RIDER. AR56B. Passing the 300 metres SPRINT was unable to obtain clear running between SPRING DAY and GLENELLA LAD (T Maeda) which shifted out. After being hampered in this incident SPRINT had to alter course to the inside of the heels of GLENELLA LAD to obtain clear running. Apprentice T Maeda was reprimanded and advised to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.

RACE 4 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1300 METRES 9 STARTERS
Jockey J Cairns reported that LANDING TIME hung out for the majority of the event.

RACE 5 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 10 STARTERS
BODY TORQUE commenced to hang out shortly after the start. BODY TORQUE continued to hang out throughout running. It was noted that passing the 300 metres LA SOEUR after being momentarily held up for clear running had to be steadied to the inside of the heels of BODY TORQUE to obtain clear running. The club veterinary surgeon reported that GOLD GLOW pulled up lame in the off fore and off hind legs.

RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 9 STARTERS
No racing incidents.

RACE 7 CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1640 METRES 8 STARTERS
Approaching the 1400 metres CHELLE’S PRIDE shifted in when not clear of SOLAR BURN resulting in SOLAR BURN being checked. Jockey G Kliese (CHELLE’S PRIDE) pleaded guilty to riding in a careless manner by allowing CHELLE’S PRIDE to shift in when not clear and was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 22nd May up to and including the 2nd June 2001 (2 meetings).

General: Trainers C Hurle (Race 1 FARE EVADER), J Wills (Race 2 ALBERT’S BALZE) and T Ryan (Race 3 CROSSEE) were all reprimanded for failing to have the horses on the course 1 hour prior to the time appointed for the start of the race. LR83(b).
