RACE 1 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES 4 STARTERS

RACE 4 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 10 STARTERS
Trainer P D’Addona was advised a warning was issued in relation to COPRAKHAN which attempted to buck shortly after the start and then shifted out hampering TORRENT and CATHERINE STREET. Approaching the 850 metres TROJAN WAR shifted in resulting in JETAWAY, GREAT COVET and COWBOY BILL all being taken in and having to be steadied. As a result of the pace slackening IRISH WINGS had to be checked off the heels of RORY’S LOVE as a consequence to this incident. Jockey A Baker (TROJAN WAR) was severely reprimanded for failing to allow a full 2 lengths clearance when crossing RORY’S LOVE. AR137(a). It was noted that IRISH WINGS got its head in the air and raced untractably throughout the race following this incident. Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JETAWAY was found to have bled on returning to scale. JETAWAY will be stood down from racing for a period of 3 months under the terms of AR53(A).

RACE 5 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 14 STARTERS
Jockey J Stopps (ANELLO) was reprimanded for being negligent when he failed to buckle his stirrup iron to the saddle when weighing out. ANELLO was late moving onto the track as a result of having to be resaddled. AR8(e). A warning was issued to Trainer R Caught in relation to NOVATWIST being difficult to load. NOVATWIST jumped awkwardly severely hampering LA SOEUR and TIGAR HEARTED which were in turn taken out onto POWDER PUFF GIRL. RORY’S BEST commenced to tire approaching the 550 metres and shifted in abruptly causing MISSDANNE to be checked. A veterinary examination of RORY’S BEST revealed no abnormalities. Jockey J Cairns reported that he had no explanation for the poor performance and that he had expected RORY’S BEST which was having its first race start to perform well on the basis on good recent track work. RORY’S BEST was sent to be swabbed. Approaching the finishing line TIGAR HEARTED shifted in and bumped GOOTCHIE. Simultaneously OSCA ERIC (G Kliese) shifted out to improve and as a consequence GOOTCHIE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OSCA ERIC. Jockey G Kliese (OSCA ERIC) was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

RACE 6 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 11 STARTERS
ICE VAIN was a late scratching at 11:45am by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice. LAKE DISTRICT was slow to begin. READY RED blundered as the gates opened. At the 1000 metres SNAP DANCER was steadied off the heels of MOUNTAIN SONG. SNAP DANCER refused to settle after this incident and over raced for some distance. Approaching the 600 metres STAR BARON was tightened for room by SNAP DANCER which shifted in when racing ungenerously. Approaching the 100 metres SNAP DANCER again had to be steadied off the heels of MOUNTAIN SONG and was unable to improve from that point onwards. Jockey J Stopps (LAKE DISTRICT) was found guilty of riding in a careless manner (AR137a) by allowing LAKE DISTRICT to shift ground when not clear of QUICK WINA after passing the 150 metre mark. As a consequence QUICK WINA was taken out onto the hind quarters of READY RED and severely checked. The Jockeys Licence of J Stopps was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 30th June up to and including the 14th July 2001 (3 meetings).

RACE 7 3YO CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 13 STARTERS
TIME AFFAIR was tightened for room between ALL PO and HEEL RUNON which shifted out and away from PINBALL PADDY.

RACE 8 OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES 10 STARTERS
MI MODEST had a tendency to get its head in the air and over race approaching the 1200 metres. MI MODEST continued to over race in the middle stages of the event. Approaching the 150 metres SAUDI WARRIOR shifted in causing severe interference to UNDERCOVER PRINCE, PRETTY FOX and PROFLIGATE. RACY DANCER which was trailing was also inconvenienced in this incident. Jockey B Kenning (SAUDI WARRIOR) pleaded guilty to riding in a careless manner (AR137a) by allowing SAUDI WARRIOR to shift in when insufficiently clear of UNDERCOVER PRINCE and was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 30th June up to and including 14th July 2001 (3 meetings). Approaching the finishing line TOP WEEKEND shifted in cramping MR STEINY and CAUTIOUS SPIRIT. Jockey M Deguara (TOP WEEKEND) was cautioned in relation to this incident.

RORY’S BEST, JETAWAY AND ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
