WEATHER -FINE TRACK - FAST RAIL - OUT 3 METRES FROM 1350 METRES TO WINNING POST

RACE 1: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

MASK OF TIME was a late withdrawal, at 8.15am for veterinary reasons. Trainer J. Petersen will be required to provide a veterinary certificate verifying the reason for the late withdrawal.

WHITE RAJA began awkwardly. At the start TOPEKO jumped outwards and bumped AMBITIOUS YEATS.

Making the home turn Jockey P. Cullen attempted to shift MOLLY out around the heels of TOPEKO to improve and on several occasions made contact with KAHAYLA (Apprentice D. Crossland), which was ridden forward to hold MOLLY in a pocket. Shortly after passing the winning post the nearside iron of the saddle of MOLLY dislodged. P. Cullen advised that the tree of the saddle holding the stirrup iron had broken making the home turn, placing him at a disadvantage in riding his mount out. The saddle was inspected by the stewards.

RACE 2: TWO-YEAR OLD HANDICAP - 1630 METRES

When the pace steadied passing the 1400 metres SEA AMORE shifted out, obliging SEVESTIE to race wider on the track.

As a result of the slow pace in the early and middle stages of the event BELLE ROUGE overraced.

RACE 3: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1400 METRES

FLOCKHART was slow to begin.

Making the home turn STEAL SANCTION (Apprentice L. Abbott) shifted in and hampered TENYETI. Apprentice Abbott was cautioned.

In the early part of the straight MR. SLATE was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

C. Murphy (POWDER PUFF GIRL) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR.137(a)) in that between the 350 metres and the 200 metres she permitted her mount to shift out under riding, resulting in NUBRICK having to be checked. C. Murphy was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 29th June 2002, up to and including 13th July 2002 (3 meetings).

RACE 4: CLASS 3 PLATE - 1400 METRES

At the 1000 metres MISREAL had to be steadied when racing to the inside of MONDIAL (I. Toward), which shifted in. I. Toward was cautioned.

Making the home turn SRINAGAR was momentarily tightened for room by PRINCETON.

At the 300 metres AZUCAR and MISREAL bumped.

RACE 5: OPEN HANDICAP - 1960 METRES

WAAJIB STAR began awkwardly. Approaching the 1400 metres IDLE BRIDLE (D. Canny) shifted in and hampered WAAJIB STAR. D. Canny was cautioned.

In the middle stages WAAJIB STAR overraced.

RACE 6: THREE-YEAR-OLD QRIS ADDED STAKES CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

OSCA ERIC jumped awkwardly.

Apprentice D. Crossland (LAUREN'S LUCK) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR.137(a) in that at the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GLACIES, which had to be steadied and lost its position. Apprentice Crossland was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 29th June 2002, up to and including 13th July 2002.

At the 600 metres OSCA ERIC commenced to pull fiercely, was unable to improve and had to be steadied off the heels of SURF JESTER.

In the early part of the straight GLACIES was held up and unable to obtain clear running. At the 250 metres GLACIES was shifted out to improve and hampered CREDIT LIMIT.

RACE 7: SHOW CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

At the 500 metres GOLD KARAM had to be steadied when racing between NATIONAL BID and SAINTLY SPY (D. Canny), which shifted in. Jockey D. Canny was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

On straightening GRANLASSUE became unbalanced when it shifted out to improve and bumped SOVEREIGN ROAD.

At the 200 metres BRONZE RAIDER, which was weakening, had to be checked when GOLD KARAM (P. Cullen) shifted out around the heels of MAGEE'S DANCER to obtain clear running. P. Cullen was reprimanded for allowing his mount to continue to shift out, rather than steadying off the heels of MAGEE'S DANCER. Stewards noted that MAGEE'S DANCER compounded the incident by shifting ground in front of GOLD KARAM, which was making ground quickly.

A post-race veterinary examination of JACOB'S PRIDE revealed that the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be provided before JACOB'S PRIDE will be permitted to race again.

RACE 8: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200 METRES

At the 600 metres BEATING THE BLUES, which was overracing and unable to improve, had to be checked off the heels of WOODSLOT.

In the straight SMOOTH RANCHO was unable to obtain clear running.

CHOSEN CALIBRE was held up and unable to obtain clear running until after the 150 metres.
