TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT TUESDAY 16/12/03
STEWARDS PANEL: P COOPER (Chairman), R SANDERS, W BETHEL, R SMITH
WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK:-DEAD RAIL –OUT 3 METRES FROM 1000 METRES TO HOME TURN.
GENERAL:
As Jockey N Day was indisposed, Stewards permitted the following replacements:
Race 1 MR WYNDAM M Bennett
Race 4 BRONZE DESIRE M Bennett
Race 5 GRANTON M Bennett
Race 7 JUST QUIETLY M Bennett
Licensed Bookmaker Mr T Byrnes pleaded guilty to a breech of LR 118A in that during the running of the meeting he did have in his procession and use a Mobile Telephone whilst Bookmaking. Subsequently, Mr Byrnes was fined the sum of $300.
RACE 1: CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 6 Starters
As Jockey D Lloyd was indisposed, Stewards permitted D Simmons to be the replacement rider for FIERY FEMME.
No incidents in running.
RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1630 Metres – 9 Starters
FODE AND BEED (D Crossland) over raced in the early to middle stages of the event. It was reported by Jockey R Mules that GOLD AND FAME blundered from the Barriers as the start was effected and then over raced in the early stages.
RACE 3: CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200 Metres – 6 Starters
The saddle had slipped on NO RESPECT at approximately the 450 metre mark which placed the rider – P Cullen – in exceptional difficulty over the concluding stages to fully test his mount.
RACE 4: 3YO CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres – 7 Starters
Stewards severely admonished Jockey D Crossland the rider of LION PRINCE for making insufficient effort to keep his mount straight soon after the start when shifting inwards and inconvenienced the running of TAVERN TART (J Stopps). Soon after this incident, LION PRINCE shifted inwards again and caused a minor inconvenience to AIR TURBULENCE (K Mahoney)
RACE 5: CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres – 9 Starters
SNAP ACTION (F Edwards) was slow into stride as the start was effected. GRANTON (M Bennett) hung outwards at approximately the 600 metres and raced wide until straightening. DARTH VADER (App P Hammersley) returned to the enclosure with the presence of blood in both nostrils. According that horse is now barred under the terms of AR 53A for a period of 3 months. Trainer T Butts was made aware of the embargo which was placed on the horse.
RACE 6: OPEN HANDICAP – 1000 Metres – 8 Starters
PRINCE JACOB (App L Abbott) was disappointed for a clear run over the concluding stages of the event.
RACE 7: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres – 10 Starters
HIGHRON (D Simmons) was slow away as the start was effected. MYCLASE (S Simon) was held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
