Race 1: Johnnie Walker QTIS 2-Year-Old Maiden Handicap - Distance - 1000m.

1st - TRUE SINDY 2nd - KOOYONG CROWN 3rd - SHE MAKES ME BUSY 4th - ROSES OF JESTER.

AZKABAH (J. P. Stanley) was slow to begin.

On jumping TRUE SINDY (G. Kliese) was tightened for room between SHE MAKES ME BUSY (J. Dickinson) and KOOYONG CROWN (D. Crossland), both of which shifted ground.

P. Cullen, the rider of TAKE THE SHOT, reported that the gelding lost its footing at the start and shortly afterwards was bumped by ROSIE’S BOY (J. Stopps), which shifted in. He said that as a consequence TAKE THE SHOT was unable to muster its usual early speed and take up a forward position. A post-race veterinary examination of TAKE THE SHOT did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

In the early part of the straight TRUE SINDY (G. Kliese) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so brushed TAKE THE SHOT (P. Cullen), and then passing the 300 metres had to be restrained off the heels of ROSES OF JESTER (W. Cullen), which shifted out slightly.

Approaching the winning post SHE MAKES ME BUSY (J. Dickinson) shifted out under pressure and brushed TAKE THE SHOT (P. Cullen). J. Dickinson was advised to exercise more care in future.
Race 2: Fashions On The Field Maiden Handicap - Distance - 1630m.

1st - LOOK FOR PEACE 2nd - NORTHERN COMMANDER 3rd - RICHIE RICH 4th - BEAUSUMO.

In the early stages RICHIE RICH (A. Cox) overraced,

Approaching the 500 metres RICHIE RICH (A. Cox) and LOCHMADDY (I. Toward) brushed.

Leaving the 400 metres RICHIE RICH (A. Cox) improved up onto the heels of LATAMER (D. Green) and had to be steadied, and as a result shifted in and made contact with BEAUSUMO (J. P. Stanley).

Rounding the home turn LATAMER (D. Green) shifted out to obtain clear running and took LOCHMADDY (I. Toward) wider on the track.

Race 3: - Sea FM 100.7 Class 6 Handicap - Distance - 1200m.

1st - TOSAMBA 2nd - MESTENGO 3rd - PAINTED UP 4th - FRISKY ROSE

Near the 300 metres the whip of F. Edwards (SANTA WEARS RED) became entangled in the reins, placing him at a disadvantage in riding his horse out.

After riding in this race G. Kliese (PAINTED UP) became indisposed and was relieved from fulfilling his subsequent engagements.

Race 4: MIX 106.3 Class 3 Plate - Distance - 1000m.

1st - DON SEQUALO 2nd - MANITO 3rd - GRAND CENTRAL 4th- LET’S RECONSIDER

Stable foreman Mr P. McArthur, representing trainer Mr J. Petersen, was advised to inform Mr Petersen that he had been reprimanded under L.R. 42(2) for failing to lodge an amended stable return notifying the change of ownership of INDIGESTION by the prescribed time.

On jumping SHE’S GOT STING (M. Bennett) shifted out and bumped GUM SCRUB (W. Cullen).

THE SEANSTER (F. Edwards) began awkwardly.

In the early stages MANITO (D. Crossland) overraced.

HURRICANE VIC (D. Green) raced wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 250 metres MANITO (D. Crossland) laid in under pressure and bumped LET’S RECONSIDER (J. P. Stanley).

After the 200 metres SHE’S GOT STING (M. Bennett) shifted out and brushed LET’S RECONSIDER (J. P. Stanley).

Close to the winning post GRAND CENTRAL (J. Stopps) shifted out and made contact with MANITO (D. Crossland).

Race 5: Townsville Bulletin Weight For Age - Distance - 1000m.

1st - JESSIE 2nd - JUNKETS 3rd - PROSPECTOR CHIEF 4th- STRICTLY SMART

QUESADILLA (M. Carson) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 200 metres JESSIE (J. Stopps) shifted out and bumped PROSPECTOR CHIEF (W. Cullen).

Near the 50 metres PROSPECTOR CHIEF (W. Cullen) and JUNKETS (D. Crossland) made contact.

A post-race veterinary examination of STRICTLY SMART (Apprentice L. Buckingham) did not reveal any abnormality.

Race 6: QRSE Parry Nissan Class 2 Handicap - Distance - 1300m.

1st - INTO THE TREES 2nd - FINAL 3rd - ALL MONDE 4th - EPONA’S BONUS

EPONA’S BONUS (J. P. Stanley) and PICK ANOTHER (A. Cox) were slow to begin.

For some distance near the 1200 metres SEA COUNSEL (S. Shield) was obliged to race in restricted room and had to be eased when crowded by FLYING BEAUTY (F. Edwards), which in turn shifted in away from BRAVE PROMISE (R. Mules). F. Edwards was severely reprimanded and advised that in future he would be expected to give his fellow riders more racing room. Shortly after this incident FLYING BEAUTY (F. Edwards) had to be checked when tightened for room by BRAVE PROMISE (R. Mules), which was racing ungenerously and shifted in away from FINAL (D. Crossland).

Race 7: QRSE Seven Local News Class 4 Handicap - Distance - 1400m.

1st - DORIAN 2nd - CORPORATE EDGE 3rd - ELASTICITY 4th - ENDING
OUR UNISON (D. Green) shifted in at the start and hampered SON OF ZENA (Apprentice K. Penrose).

On jumping ENDING (Apprentice R. McMahon) knuckled.

Jockey D. Green, the rider of OUR UNISON was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A. R. 137(a) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting inwards near the 1200 metres when not sufficiently clear of CRAIGLEA BART (I. Toward), which had to be checked, clipped the heels of OUR UNISON and lost its position in the field. D. Green was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on Tuesday, 2nd November 2004, up to and including Tuesday 16th November 2004 (3 NQ meetings).

A post-race veterinary examination of SUAVE DRESSER (W. Cullen) revealed that the horse had sustained a ruptured flexor tendon. Connections will be advised that a full veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before SUAVE DRESSER will be permitted to race again.

Upon returning to scale D. Green reported that OUR UNISON appeared to be lame in the off foreleg.

Race 8: Win A Nissan 350Z Class 1 Handicap - Distance - 1400m.

1st - REAL ASSET 2nd - MR MANDRAKE 3rd / 4th - WILL TO ENDURE/WHAT’S TO COME (D/H)

Upon returning to scale Jockey I. Toward made an application to the stewards to have MR JACOBS declared a non-starter, as the gates on the horse’s barrier had failed to open and the horse had to force the gates open. After taking evidence from I. Toward, the starter Mr P. Neilsen, trainer Mr F.Wieland and Townsville Turf Club Operations Manager Mr M. Dempster, stewards declared MR JACOBS a non-starter as in their opinion the horse had been denied a fair start (A.R. 134A). Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on MR JACOBS be refunded in full and that all successful bets made with bookmakers be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of tickets: win 5¢, place 6¢.

UNACCEPTABLE (M. Gray) was slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages YOUNG AUREOLE (Apprentice R. McMahon) overraced.

Near the 750 metres RELATIVE TIME (M. Bennett) began to race ungenerously and got its head up.

Jockey P. Cullen (BRIGHT SELECTION) reported that on several occasions over the concluding stages he was unable to obtain clear running.

Until the final 50 metres WILL TO ENDURE (D. Green) was unable to obtain clear running.
