In the middle stages LATAMER (L. Critoph) overraced.

Near the 550 metres BALLINSPITTLE (M. Elliott) brushed the running rail.

Jockey P. Cullen reported that BUTTERFLY JUNGLE raced ungenerously in the straight.

Jockey G. Cullen was cautioned about his use of the whip on NUTS ABOUT YOU over the concluding stages.

Race 2: R & B North Queensland Plant Express Class 6 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - ENDING 2nd - BICARB 3rd - FINAL STORM 4th - RELOADED

BICARB (D. Evans) began awkwardly.

Leaving the 1000 metres RAMEKA (J. P. Stanley) threw its head about when being restrained away from the heels of ENDING (G. Kliese).

FLAMING PRINCE (J. Felix) raced wide throughout and shortly after straightening shifted out wider under pressure, taking RAMEKA (J. P. Stanley) out over the heels of BICARB (D. Evans). J. Felix was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Over the concluding stages ENDING (G. Kliese) shifted out under pressure and hampered RELOADED (I. Toward). G. Kliese was advised that in future he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he had on this occasion.

Race 3: Wollami Pine QTIS Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - ROSIE’S BOY 2nd - WONQUALO 3rd - FULL SISTER 4th - MISTER BRUMBY

Stewards considered an objection lodged by D. Green, rider of FULL SISTER which finished third, against WONQUALO (P. Cullen) being declared second, alleging interference over the final 200 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved and viewing the official films, stewards found that over the concluding stages FULL SISTER and WONQUALO raced tight. However, they could not be comfortably satisfied that any inconvenience suffered by FULL SISTER warranted an alteration to the placings. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand.

VALLEY DANE (I. Toward) was slow to begin.

On jumping FULL SISTER (D. Green) and MISTER BRUMBY (G. Cullen) came together.

Leaving the 1000 metres GHOST FACE (Apprentice R. Plumb) had to steady to avoid the heels of WONQUALO (P. Cullen), which shifted in slightly. MISTER BRUMBY (G. Cullen), which was following, had to be steadied in consequence.

Over the concluding stages MISTER BRUMBY (G. Cullen) shifted out, taking GHOST FACE (App. R. Plumb) out onto SUZILAP (J. Felix).

Race 4: PJ Nursery Transport Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - WOK STAR 2nd - CHAIN OF THOUGHT 3rd - JOE’S FURY 4th - SOLIDIFIED

Trainer Mr E. Chillemi was fined $50 under L.R. 70(1) for failing to declare J. Stopps as the rider of KAPELAS by the prescribed time.

After being placed in the barriers SOLIDIFIED (P. Cullen) broke through, was quickly restrained, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

SEA COUNSEL (D. Evans) was extremely fractious and unruly in the enclosure, then
after being placed in the barriers became fractious, reared on two occasions, got down in the stall and dislodged its rider D. Evans. As D. Evans was unfit to fulfil his ride, and to avoid an unnecessary delay, stewards ordered the withdrawal of SEA COUNSEL at 2.21 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on SEA COUNSEL be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of SEA COUNSEL at 2.21 p.m. be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 13¢, place 15¢. D. Evans was subsequently examined by the Club’s medical officer and passed fit to fulfil his further engagements. A subsequent veterinary examination of SEA COUNSEL revealed that the gelding had sustained a small wound inside the right nostril. Trainer Mr R. Long was advised that a warning had been placed on the barrier manners of SEA COUNSEL.

The gates on the barrier stall occupied by CATALINA CROSSING (Apprentice R. McMahon) were slow to open. Stewards acting under A.R. 134A ruled that CATALINA CROSSING had been denied a fair start and accordingly declared that the mare was a non-runner. Subsequently stewards ordered that all bets made on CATALINA CROSSING be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers after the withdrawal of SEA COUNSEL at 2.21 p.m. be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 4¢, place 5¢.
A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that CATALINA CROSSING had sustained a small bruise and skin grazing on the right hip.

On jumping NAPLES AVENUE (I. Toward) was crowded for room between WOK STAR (D. Crossland), which shifted out, and PENTECOST (J. Felix), which shifted in. As a result of the incident PENTECOST became unbalanced for a short distance.

Near the 700 metres SOLIDIFIED (P. Cullen) was placed in restricted room and on several occasions was steadied to avoid the heels of runners in front.

1st - DAMASCUS CALLING 2nd - GASNIER 3rd - STRIDERITE 4th - MAPS

Jockey A. Cox reported that at about the 1000 metres STORMY BLUE raced unkindly in the track conditions, and thereafter raced ungenerously.
In the early part of the straight GASNIER (D. Green) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

At the start FRISKY ROSE (D. Green) shifted out and made contact with RUPTURED (P. Cullen).

Shortly after the start MOON JET (J. Long) shifted out and hampered NITROGLYCERINE (L. Critoph).
