Just prior to the winning post OOLEY DOOLEY (J. P. Stanley) stepped out and made contact with TAKE THE SHOT (J. Felix).

Race 2: www.ticketsonline.net.au Maiden Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - ROYAL FESTIVAL 2nd - CAVALIER APPROACH 3rd - WINDMAN 4th - ROCKETS OF GOLD

As F. Edwards was indisposed and no other rider was available, stewards ordered the withdrawal of ZIPSNIP at 12.18 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on ZIPSNIP be refunded in full and that all bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of ZIPSNIP be paid less the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of successful tickets: win 17¢, place 15¢.

As no other suitable rider was available, permission was given for R. Ryan to ride MAJESTIC NATIVE more than 1kg overweight.

On jumping RUGGLES (D. Crossland) shifted in and crowded ESDENE’S SEQUEL (W. Kenning) in onto PALEFACE BEN (D. Green).

When questioned Jockey J. P. Stanley could offer no explanation for the poor performance of BUNSEN HONEYDEW, other than that the gelding was having its first start since a spell and may not have handled today’s track conditions.

A post-race veterinary examination of MOISEEV (I. Toward) revealed that the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. Trainer V. McIver was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be provided prior to MOISEEV being permitted to race again.
