Race 1: Nissan X-Trail Class 1 Handicap - 1000m
1st - PAYPACKET 2nd - PIRAEUS 3rd - BOSSIE PRINCE 4th - MICKEY JOE

After being placed in the barriers ONMYPAT (A. Cox) broke through, was quickly restrained, examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

PAYPACKET (Apprentice B. Young) was slow to begin.

Jockey F. Edwards, the rider of MICKEY JOE, reported that his mount reared as the gates opened.

After the race Jockey I. Toward reported that PIRAEUS (I. Toward) hung out throughout the event.

Race 2: Parry Nissan Prelude QTIS 2-Year-Old Maiden Handicap - 1000m
1st - SNAP ATTACK 2nd - STAY TRUE 3rd - ESQUIVAR 4th - SILVER MOUNTAIN

Stewards accepted the explanation offered by trainer Ms B. Davis for the late declaration of M. Cullen as the rider of SIR RASH.

Trainer Mr U. Cesaro was fined $100 under L. R. 70(1) for failing to declare I. Toward as the rider of NO QUICK FIX by the prescribed time.

On jumping CITY LANE (P. Cullen) shifted out and bumped SILVER MOUNTAIN (S. Watkin).

In the early stages AFLEET AFOOT (Apprentice B. Young) pulled hard and overraced.

When the gates opened WIND AND RAIN (M. Bennett) shifted out and ran wide on the track, then continued to race wide throughout the event. Trainer Mr E. Covell was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly’s racing manners.

From the 600 metres to the 550 metres POWER ON (D. Crossland) was inclined to shift out when overracing.

Leaving the 450 metres ESQUIVAR (J. Stopps) shifted in when not clear of NO QUICK FIX ( I. Toward), which had to be eased and lost its position. Jockey J. Stopps was given the benefit of a grave doubt as to whether he should be charged with careless riding, but was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.

Approaching the 400 metres ESQUIVAR (J. Stopps) was laying in and when corrected by its rider shifted out abruptly onto CITY LANE (P. Cullen), which overreacted and also shifted out abruptly, taking POSTAGE (D. Craven), SILVER MOUNTAIN (S. Watkin) and STAY TRUE (B. Stewart) wider. Stewards gave Jockey J. Stopps the benefit of a doubt with regard to his actions during the incident. Nevertheless he was advised to show more care in future.

From the home turn until approximately the 200 metres POSTAGE (D. Craven) raced greenly.

Trainer Mr D. Crouch was admonished for presenting POSTAGE (D. Craven) in the enclosure with a tail chain that was not of an approved design.

Race 3: Parry Nissan Preview QTIS 2-Year-Old Handicap - 1200m
1st - IN OUR OPINION 2nd - KELVAIN 3rd - DOMINATE KING 4th - HOTELIER

On jumping KELVAIN (J. Felix) dipped.

When asked to explain the performance of HOTELIER, Jockey D. Crossland said that the colt was having its first start over 1200 metres and with its big weight was inclined to overrace early.

Race 4: Nissan Pathfinder Maiden Plate - 1200m
1st - BOSS OF THE BOSS 2nd - REVERSE THE CURSE 3rd - GUN PIPER 4th - ARMIDAN

REMEMBER FRED (A. Cox) was slow to begin.

Jockey I. Toward reported that MY AURA got its tongue over the bit during running, in his opinion at about the 450 metres.

Approaching the 600 metres ARMIDAN (P. Cullen) shifted out, taking BOSS OF THE BOSS (D. Crossland) marginally wider. BOSS OF THE BOSS then commenced to lay out and had to be eased away from the heels of LADY STEEL (Apprentice T. Bannon). Jockey P. Cullen was advised to take more care in similar circumstances.

Race 5: Nissan Tiida Class 2 Handicap – 1200m
1st - TAKE THE SHOT 2nd - BACK OF HOUSE 3rd - DEMOLITION 4th – DIAMOND CROSSING

DUMP ‘N’ BURN (S. Watkin) and MISTI LGHT (A. Cox) were slow to begin.

Near the 650 metres TAKE THE SHOT was momentarily eased when racing tight between BACK OF HOUSE (M. Bennett) and AULD FRIEND (G. Kliese).

In the early part of the straight when JOE’S FURY (P. Cullen) improved to the outside of FLYING BEAUTY (J. Stopps), DUNWOODYS (I. Toward) shifted out taking FLYING BEAUTY out onto JOE’S FURY. Jockey I. Toward was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to take more care of his fellow riders.

Over the concluding stages FLYING BEAUTY (J. Stopps) was inclined to lay in.

Race 6: Nissan Patrol Class 6 Plate - 1200m
1st - TATANKA 2nd - PRINCE OF STEEL 3rd - SISTER CATHERINE 4th - TRIP TO MANILA

As the start was effected TRIP TO MANILA (D. Crossland) shifted out onto RUSTY GOLD (S. Watkin), which was taken out. At the same time TIME SWITCH (D. Craven) began awkwardly and had to be steadied away from RUSTY GOLD.

PRINCE OF STEEL (G. Kliese) turned its head as the start was effected and was slow to get into stride.

In the early stages OUT TO LUNCH (I. Toward) overraced.

KENWOOD ALLEGRO (Apprentice B. Young) was obliged to race wide in the early stages.

On straightening SISTER CATHERINE (P. Cullen) shifted out to improve and brushed THE SEANSTER (F. Edwards).

ONE ALONE (Apprentice T. Bannon) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from the top of the straight until just prior to the winning post.

In the latter stages TRIP TO MANILA (D. Crossland) was unable to obtain clear running.

A post-race veterinary examination of TRIP TO MANILA (D. Crossland) revealed that the gelding was showing mild distresss.

A post-race veterinary examination of TIME SWITCH did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 7: Nissan Maxima Open Handicap - 1400m
1st - RAID AND RULE 2nd - DORIAN 3rd - SECRET RAIN 4th - SAMMY DEE

Stewards accepted the explanation given by Trainer Ms C. Williams for the late declaration of M. Cullen as the rider of ELASTICITY.

ROADSPY (D. Craven) shifted out at the start taking ELASTICITY (M. Cullen) out, resulting in MOGANO (S. Watkin) being tightened between SNICK (G. Kliese) and SPURIOUS (D. Lloyd).

Approaching the 1200 metres and again between the 600 metres and the 700 metres SAMMY DEE (J. Felix) overraced.

Jockey I. Toward, the rider of DORIAN, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out at the 200 metres and inconvenience SNICK (G. Kliese).

KASHKII (A. Cox) was unable to obtain clear running over the final 150 metres.

Race 8: Nissan Navara Class 3 Handicap - 1400m
1st - WEONA GOLD 2nd - LOOKALANI 3rd - FASLYNSKI 4th - DANCE CARD DOLL

The explanation submitted by trainer Mr R. Rix for the late declaration of F. Edwards as the rider of SEADOG was accepted.

Trainer Mr M. Farrell was severely reprimanded under L. R. 70(1) for failing to declare L. Critoph as the rider of GOLD TUSMANI by the prescribed time.

BULLET TRAIN (J. Felix) refused to load into the barriers. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 4.56 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on BULLET TRAIN be refunded in full and that all successful bets made with bookmakers prior to the withdrawal of BULLET TRAIN be paid less the following deductions from the face value of the tickets: win 6¢; place 7¢. Trainer Mr J. Petersen was advised that BULLET TRAIN must perform to the satisfaction of the stewards in a jump-out before being permitted to race again.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when Jockey S. Watkin and trainer Mr R. Long applied to the stewards to have WILL TO ENDURE a non-starter on the ground that the gelding had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from connections and the Starter, stewards declared WILL TO ENDURE a starter and correct weight was given.

LOOKALANI (G. Kliese) jumped in at the start and brushed FASLYNSKI (I. Toward).

At the start CHECOTAH (J. Stopps) shifted out taking SPECKLES (P. Cullen) out onto SHIVER OF GOLD (M. Bennett), which was obliged to race wide for a short distance.

WILL TO ENDURE (S. Watkin) began awkwardly and brushed IMPUNITY (D. Lloyd), which was slow to get into stride.

Between the 700 metres and the 750 metres PROBLEMATIC (A. Cox) pulled hard and raced ungenerously.

ALL WINNERS AND REVERSE THE CURSE AND OUT TO LUNCH WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
