Race 1: Pat Molloy Jeweller Maiden Handicap – 1630 metres
1st – BLISTERING MISS 2nd – SHOTGUN START 3rd – SUPER CHOI 4th – MINIMUM

SOVEREIGN SEA (Apprentice C. Isdale) began awkwardly.

In the middle stages SUPER CHOI (I. Fry) over-raced.

From the 1400 metres to the 950 metres MINIMUM (D. Crossland) over-raced.

From rounding the home turn to the winning post BETTERWATCHOUT (G. Cullen) was inclined to lay in.

Race 2: XXXX Gold Class 2 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – LUCIPALITY 2nd – MENORAH 3rd – HIGH ANXIETY 4th – SWEEP ON BY

MONOS (L. Morrison) and SNIGGER (W. Kenning) were slow to begin.

Jockey W. Kenning was severely admonished for permitting SNIGGER to shift in approaching the 250 metres when not quite clear of HIGH ANXIETY (P. Cullen), which had to be steadied and shifted wider.

Race 3: Garrards Horse & Hound Maiden Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – STEEL QUEEN 2nd – DRIVESHAFT 3rd – EDENLINE 4th – FORWARD VISION

STEEL QUEEN (L. Morrison), TRULY BONDED (D. Crossland) and EDENLINE (N. Day) were slow to begin.

SHINING CHARM (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout.

When questioned about the performance of BURGOMASTER, Apprentice C. Isdale stated that the gelding had been untractable in its preliminary and galloped for some distance on the way to the barriers. He explained that after being taken to the lead in the early stages the horse commenced to weaken leaving the 600 metres and compounded badly in the straight and therefore he did not put it under pressure. He added that BURGOMASTER was distressed on pulling up after the race. A post-race veterinary examination of BURGOMASTER did not reveal any abnormalities. The explanations tendered by Apprentice Isdale were noted and he was advised that in future he must ride his mounts so as not to leave any room for query.

Race 4: Parry Nissan Prelude QTIS 2YO Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – DIAMOND PURSUIT 2nd – FRED THE LEGION 3rd – PUBZ BARON 4th – PEOPLE’S CHOICE

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey G.Kliese, the rider of FRED THE LEGION which finished second, against DIAMOND PURSUIT (L. Morrison) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 300 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight when they found that from the 200 metres until the winning post FRED THE LEGION was inclined to run away from DIAMOND PURSUIT and that the two horses made contact either on the winning post or after it.

MIRACLE BOY (W. Kenning) was slow to begin.

On jumping SILENT REALM (D. Philpot) shifted in and bumped ATLANTIC PRINCE (J. Felix). At the same time FIRST EDITION (D. Crossland) shifted out.

In the early stages PUDDYTAT (G. Cullen) laid in.

Near the 1000 metres PUBZ BARON (D. Crossland) shifted in abruptly and had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CONFIDENT WOMAN (C. Eaton).

DIAMOND PURSUIT (L. Morrison) returned to its stall with blood in its mouth caused by a barrier mishap which resulted in a small cut to its lip.

When asked about the performance of SIR NICOLLS, Jockey C. Whiteley explained that the gelding over-raced early and refused to settle. He said that he put the gelding under pressure approaching the home turn it failed to respond. He stated that the saddle on SIR NICOLLS shifted marginally during the race and the breast plate had broken. He added that on returning to scale he noted that the horse’s tongue was well back in its mouth and in his opinion may have affected the gelding’s breathing. A post-race veterinary examination of SIR NICOLLS did not reveal any abnormality, other than the off hind shoe was loose. Trainer Mr R. Long could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance, other than that it had got its tongue back and may have had trouble breathing. Mr Long undertook to advise stewards should anything be amiss with the horse in the days following the event. He informed stewards that he would now experiment with the use of a tongue tie on SIR NICOLLS.

At about the 300 metres CONFIDENT WOMAN (C. Eaton) shifted out abruptly, resulting in Jockey C. Eaton losing her balance and being dislodged. Stewards found that no other rider or horse was responsible for the incident. Jockey Eaton was unable to fulfil her further engagements. Trainer Mr R. Chillemi was informed that CONFIDENT WOMAN must perform to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.

Race 5: Fishing & Outdoor Expo @ Cluden This Weekend
Class 3 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – ANDAMON 2nd – FIRST EDITION 3rd – EXPECTING 4th – SHE MAKES ME BUSY

When Jockey C. Eaton was indisposed after being dislodged from her mount in Race 4, Jockey D. Evans was substituted as the rider of OLD SHEP.

SHE MAKES ME BUSY (Apprentice C. Isdale) began awkwardly.

ANDAMON (N. Day) began awkwardly and raced ungenerously for the first 300 metres, then at the 600 metres raced up onto heels and had to be restrained.

Race 6: Parry Nissan Trackside On WIN News Weight For Age – 1200 metres
1st – SEA ZULU 2nd – MULLETT 3rd – ONALAR 4th – PRIINCE OF STEEL

Trainer Mr D. Hansen was fined $100 under L. R. 42(2) for failing to lodge an amended stable return regarding the ownership of ONALAR.

When Jockey C. Eaton was indisposed, Jockey D. Evans was substituted as the rider of SAM’S DREAM.

MULLETT (T. Pannell) was slow to begin.

ROLE OF NED (P. Cullen) and PRINCE OF STEEL (C. Whiteley) came together at the start.

Near the 1100 metres PRINCE OF STEEL (C. Whiteley) was inconvenienced and had to be steadied when crowded for room by SAM’S DREAM (D. Evans).

At about the 600 metres MISTER STEVENS (D. Crossland) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SAM’S DREAM (D. Evans).

Race 7: SCFC Fishing Club Class 6 Plate – 1630 metres
1st – STARRY DANCER 2nd – TEDDY BARE 3rd – OUR PRITAVE JET 4th – WINDANE DO

Between the 1400 metres and the 1200 metres WINDANE DO (I. Fry) over-raced.

At the entrance to the straight MAMELUKE (G. Kliese) and KALGOORLIE KID (J. Felix) came together. A post-race veterinary examination of KALGOURLIE KID revealed that the gelding had bruising over the near fore shoulder.

When asked about the run of FABULOUS FUHRLONG, in particular over the final 400 metres, Jockey L. Morrison explained that at the entrance to the straight she was held up for a run behind STARRY DANCER (D. Missen) and then attempted a narrow run to the inside of MAMELUKE (G. Kliese), but the run closed and she was again unable to obtain clear running and instead had to restrain and switch to the inside of MAMELUKE to gain a clear run.

When questioned Jockey F. Edwards said that he could offer no explanation for the poor performance of CASA DOMANI. He stated that the gelding began well and took up a handy position but failed to finish the race off as expected.

Race 8: Roux Blond Creative Catering Class 1 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st – REFUHRENCE 2nd – COSTA ROMOLO 3rd – ROY’S JOY 4th – VOODOO RED MAGIC

TOLENTINO was a late scratching, at 3.25 p.m., when Jockey C. Eaton became indisposed and no suitable rider was available to ride the horse at its allotted weight.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey F. Edwards, the rider of COSTA ROMOLO which finished second, to view the official video film with a view to lodging an objection against REFUHRENCE (D. Evans) being declared the winner. After viewing the film Jockey Edwards elected not to lodge a protest and correct weight was declared.

On jumping JENKINSTOWN (N. Day) was crowded for room between VOODOO RED MAGIC (J. Felix), which shifted in, and OPTICKS (D. Philpot), which shifted out.

In the early and middle stages JENKINSTOWN (N. Day) and REFUHRENCE (D. Evans) raced wide.

At about the 450 metres VOODOO RED MAGIC (J. Felix) was held up to the inside of GENERAL MACARTHUR (G. Cullen).

Rounding the home turn COSTA ROMOLO was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

Over the final 300 metres JENKINSTOWN (N. Day) was inclined to lay in, placing its rider at a disadvantage in fully testing his mount. A post-race veterinary examination of JENKINSTOWN did not reveal any abnormalities.

ALL WINNERS AND BURGOMASTER WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
