Race 1: Wanless Wastecorp QTIS Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
1st – SUPER CHOI 2nd – MEGABOY/SHOVNCO (DH) – 4th – QUICKDRAWMCGRAW

TOLAWHA’S PRIDE (Apprentice P. Edwards) began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly, commenced to buck and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer Mr M. Reynolds was advised that the colt must perform to the satisfaction of the stewards in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

LEGAL POSITION (T. Bannon) began awkwardly and shifted in shortly after the start.

In the early stages QUICKDRAWMCGRAW (Apprentice J. Wood) over-raced.

SUPER CHOI (I. Fry) and GLAMOUR GIRL (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout.

At about the 450 metres LEGAL POSITION (T. Bannon) improved up onto the heels of GRACERIN (S. Campton) and had to be eased.

Over the final 350 metres LEGAL POSITION (T. Bannon) raced very greenly, placing Jockey T. Bannon at a disadvantage and the colt went to the line without being fully tested.

Leaving the 150 metres ALITTLEBITOFBUBBLY (S. Kaya), which was weakening, had to be steadied when tightened for room by LORZY (P. Cullen), which shifted in slightly.

Near the 100 metres FASCITI (D. Missen) was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of P. Cullen, the rider of LORZY.

FASCITI (D. Missen) returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth.

Race 2: Garrard’s Horse and Hound Fillies and Mares Class 2 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – LATVIA 2nd – TIARASAL 3rd – DESERT LIGHTNING 4th – BEAUTIFUL MARY

The start was delayed when DODGY MISS (C. Eaton) became fractious and reared after being placed in the barriers.

DANCE AVENUE (J. Long) and EDENLINE (I. Toward) were slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages BEAUTIFUL MARY (J. Stopps) raced wide,
rounding the home turn hung out and in the straight was inclined to lay in under pressure.

Near the 700 metres DESERT LIGHTNING (J. Felix) was steadied when tightened for room between TIARASAL (G. Lemos) and LATVIA (G. Kliese), which shifted in.

When questioned about the apparent disappointing performance of BEAUTIFUL MARY, Jockey J. Stopps explained that the mare was not suited by the fast early pace. He said that the horse then enjoyed a good run, but was inclined to lay out approaching and rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Sky Channel- Off the Beaten Track Class 1 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st – KING XAVIER 2nd – TRICKY 3rd – GOLD FREEZE 4th – PEOPLE’S CHOICE

For some distance passing the 600 metres TRICKY (G. Cullen) raced wide.

Over the concluding stages IDEALLY READY (J. Long) was steadied when crowded for room between BLISTERING MISS (I. Toward) and VOODOO RED MAGIC (S. Campton).

Race 4: Parry Nissan Class 3 Plate - 1630 metres
1st – TIME BY TIME 2nd – MISERLY 3rd – FIERY DIAMOND 4th – AMAZING LOVER

PUDDYTAT (S. Kaya) and XAAR ON ABSINTH (C. Eaton) were slow to begin.

RIFLE (G. Lemos) was slow to get into stride.

In the early and middle stages MISERLY (A. Cox) over-raced.

In the middle stages AMAZING LOVER (D. Crossland) over-raced.

A post-race veterinary examination of LA FRIAND (Apprentice S. Miller) did not reveal any significant abnormality.

Jockey G. Lemos pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R. 137A(2)(c), in that as the rider of RIFLE he used the whip excessively when his mount was not responding. Jockey Lemos was fined $100.

Race 5: XXXX Gold Colts and Geldings Class 2 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – SNIGGER 2nd – FROG DANCE 3rd – LEO’S MEMORY 4th – DEMOS

LATEST MODEL (G. Kliese) and TAILSEND (G. Lemos) were slow to begin.

CREDIT CHARGE (J. Stopps) and PRESSURE’S ON (D. Evans) raced wide throughout.

Near the 550 metres CHIEF RED FEATHER (G. Cullen) improved to the inside of YOWIE BAY (S. Kaya) where, in the opinion of the stewards, there was doubtful room and had to be checked. Jockey G. Cullen was advised that in future he must ensure there is sufficient racing room before attempting a run.

At about the 300 metres SNIGGER (W. Kenning) shifted out to obtain clear running and bumped BICKIE JAR (C. Eaton).

Approaching the 200 metres LEO’S MEMORY (Apprentice J. Wood) shifted out under pressure and inconvenienced BICKIE JAR (C. Eaton), which was following.

Jockey W. Kenning, the rider of the winner, SNIGGER, was reprimanded under A.R. 137(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

STAR OF THE GALAXY (W. Kenning) and FIRST EDITION (Apprentice J. Wood) raced wide throughout.

Jockey D. Evans was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that at the 700 metres he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of POWER EXPRESS (P. Cullen), which was tightened for room, taken in onto ON BAIL (I. Toward), checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey D. Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on Tuesday, 30th December 2008, up to and including Friday, 9th January 2008 (4NQ meetings).

In the early part of the straight ON BAIL (I. Toward) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

Near the 200 metres STAR OF THE GALAXY (W. Kenning) was tightened for room between ON BAIL (I. Toward) and EXPECTING (D. Evans), which shifted in. Jockey D. Evans was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey P. Cullen, the rider of CHERRY GAZE which finished fifth, to view the official video film. After viewing the film Jockey Cullen elected not to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared.

PACIFIC OCEAN (S. Campton) began awkwardly.

In the early stages ON A PRAYER (Apprentice P. Edwards) commenced to over-race and joining the course proper shifted inside the line of the running rail and lost ground. ON A PRAYER continued to over-race in the middle stages.

CHERRY GAZE (P. Cullen), FLYING SONG (J. Felix) and OLD SHEP (C. Eaton) raced wide throughout.

Passing the 100 metres OUR MISTAKE (G. Lemos) shifted out and tightened the room of CHERRY GAZE (P. Cullen) which was taken out onto BRINKLEY LIGHT (D. Missen).
