SUPPREMENTARY REPORT: Townsville Saturday 27th October 2012:

Jockey P. Cullen was fined $200 under A.R. 120(b) for being overweight and having to ride FESTIVAL BALLET 1kg above his declared weight. Jockey Cullen was also fined $100 under A.R. 120(b) for being overweight and unable to fulfil his engagement for WHY NOT NOW

LATE RIDING CHANGES:

When Jockey P. Cullen was to be overweight and unable to fulfil his engagements for COUNTESS MONPEZAT in Race 3 and for MY NAME IS EARL in Race 5, for medical reasons, Jockey A. Dykes was substituted as the rider of those two runners.

Race 1: Racing @ Cluden Park Melbourne Cup Day 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – TAMBO’S JEWEL 2nd – HELP ME RHONDA 3rd – NASEEM 4th – DECADENT

App. B. Swaffer reported that DECADENT stumbled on jumping. Following the race it was noted that DECADENT had lost its near fore plate in running.

TAMBO’S JEWEL (A. Coome) and SHERIDAN (D. Tanti) were slow to begin.

HELP ME RHONDA (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly.

In the early part of the straight NASEEM (G. Kliese) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

Near the 100 metres KELLIE BE GOOD (W. D’Avila) shifted in and made contact with SHERIDAN.

DECADENT (App. B. Swaffer), KELLIE BE GOOD and HELP ME RHONDA raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey I. Toward as to the performance of ROCK MELON, which raced below market expectations. Jockey Toward stated that the gelding travelled well until straightening for home but when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding stages. The explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.

1st – DAZZLE ON 2nd - RAPID CRYSTAL 3rd – HOT SAGA 4th – PRINCE LOKESA

KOOLKUNA BABE (D. Tanti) and NO WAY A BAY (M. Elliott) were slow to begin.

RAPID CRYSTAL (A. Coome) shifted out at the start and made contact with HOT SAGA (I. Toward).

Near the 700 metres NO WAY A BAY had to be steadied when racing in restricted room for a short distance.

Leaving the 600 metres MONTAGO (C.Whiteley), which was racing greenly, shifted wider on the track.

At the 200 metres HOT SAGA became unbalanced when it shifted in and away from CRAIGLEA TORQUE (A. Dykes), which was racing greenly. Shortly after this HOT SAGA shifted around the heels of CRAIGLEA ZAMIA (App. B. Swaffer) to improve, forcing CRAIGLEA TORQUE wider on the track.

Race 3: - Tradies Race Day Tue 4 December Handicap - 1200 metres
1st – RENOUNCE 2nd – PINK ‘N’ BLUE 3rd – KASH SPOT 4th – LA LIONESSE

KASH SPOT (I. Toward) was slow to begin.

Near the 1100m ALONG CAME JOHNNY (D. Tanti) lost ground when tightened for room between MICHALAK (C. Whiteley) and PINK ‘N’ BLUE (W. D’Avila), which shifted in. W. D’Avila was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey C. Whiteley reported that in the straight MICHALAK, which raced wide for the majority of the event, was inclined to hang in.

Approaching the 600 metres COUNTESS MONPEZAT (A. Dykes) shifted out around the heels of LA LIONESSE (App. B. Swaffer) to improve. COUNTESS MONPEZAT raced wide thereafter.

Near the 300 metres PINK ‘N’ BLUE shifted out away from the heels of LA LIONESSE to obtain clear running and made contact with KASH SPOT on several occasions.

Jockey D. Tanti reported that he became concerned with the action of ALONG CAME JOHNNY when it was placed under pressure in the early part of the straight and consequently he retired the gelding from the race. A post-race veterinary examination of ALONG CAME JOHNNY revealed that the gelding had bled from one nostril. Trainer Ms E. Russo was advised that, in accordance with the provisions of A.R. 53A, ALONG CAME JOHNNY must undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.

Race 4: Doug Ede’s Marquee & Party Hire Class 1 Plate – 1630 metres
1st – MISS MAGIC CHINE 2nd – ROCK LIKE CRAZY 3rd – ALSOUQ 4th – ZAHMATAS ADJOURNED

The start was delayed when a strapper was kicked by a horse in the parade area and received treatment from the on-course Ambulance officers.

Following the race it was noted that GOLD MACHINE (C. Whiteley) bled from both nostrils during running. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that, as this was the first time the gelding had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A.

App. B. Swaffer reported that CLUES hung out for the entire race and he had recommended to connections that the gelding be spelled.

SPURPARTS (F. Edwards) began awkwardly and lost ground.

In the middle stages ZAHMATAS ADJOURNED (G. Kliese) over-raced.

In the home straight ROCK LIKE CRAZY (D. Missen) shifted out under pressure.

Near the 300 metres ALSOUQ (A. Coome) shifted out under pressure, which enabled MISS MAGIC CHINE (W. D’Avila) to obtain a run to its inside.

Race 5: Townsville Sun BM75 Handicap – 1630 metres
1st – ALBUQUERQUE 2nd – THREATENED DANGER 3rd – ROTHSCHILD LAD 4th – GOGO DELAGO

The start was delayed whilst the strapper injure prior to Race 4 received further treatment from the on-course Ambulance officers.

CABINET (D. Tanti) and OURQUESTRO were slow to begin.

MY NAME IS EARL (A. Dykes) began awkwardly and lost ground.

In the early stages DE VILLE (App. B. Swaffer) over-raced.

In the early stages CABINET raced wide, until assuming the lead near the 1000 metres.

For a short distance leaving the 1000 metres ROTHSCHILD LAD (G. Cullen) had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of CABINET.

Near the 700 metres ALBUQUERQUE (F. Edwards) improved up onto the heels of SLICK LINE (M. Elliott) and had to be steadied and shifted wider. ALBUQUERQUE raced wide thereafter.

In the early part of the straight THREATENED DANGER (I. Toward) was inclined to lay in.

OURQUESTRO (A. Merritt) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey M. Elliott as to the performance of SLICK LINE, which raced below market expectations. Jockey Elliott reported that the mare travelled well in the run until being momentarily held up approaching the home turn, but when asked for an effort in the home straight SLICK LINE failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of SLICK LINE revealed that the mare had swelling of the off fore knee. Trainer B. Williams was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to SLICK LINE being permitted to race again.

Stewards questioned Jockey D. Missen and trainer Mr F. Wieland in regard to the performance of RATTUS CONATUS, in particular Jockey Missen’s riding over the final 400 metres. After taking initial evidence from Jockey Missen and Mr Wieland, stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination of RATTUS CONATUS did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: Pro Liquor Solutions Class 3 Plate -– 1200 metres
1st – JUST HUSTLED 2nd – STIEG 3rd – CARBINCONI 4th – EUREKA DUBAI

This morning when FRENCH LESSON was disqualified from its first placing at Townsville on 21st August 2012, PANECILLO was elevated to first place in that event, and became ineligible to start in this race and accordingly was declared a late scratching at 12 noon.

At the start JUST HUSTLED (W. D’Avila) shifted out and made contact with STIEG (C. Whiteley), which then continued to shift out and made contact with HE’S SO TEMPTING (A. Merritt).

Near the 1000 metres KAARMA (App. B. Swaffer) became awkward when racing in restricted room inside BOLT FROM THE BLUE (I. Toward) and lost ground.

STIEG, HE’S SO TEMPTIN and MISS HONAHLEE (F. Edwards) raced wide for the majority of the event.
