RACE 1: ROYAL CANNON withdrawn by order of Stewards at 4.00 p.m. acting on Veterinary advice. Deductions made less 24c and 18c (3/1). GRISMA (S. Killen) restless, jumped awkwardly. KELLINA BAY (App J. Baker) slow into stride. SHABNAM (D. Green) dwelt, lost considerable ground, warning. Honey time (App K. Banks) jumped in minor contact EASTER MALIA (G. Geran). KELLINA BAY whilst having its first race start, raced greenly throughout, shifted out approx 500m causing GOLDEN BRIDGE (K. Waller) to shift out and SHABNAM (D. Green) to ease. KELLINA BAY then shifted out when struck with the whip at approx the 300m causing GOLDEN BRIDGE to ease away from its heels. HONEY TIME (App K. Banks) raced greenly, shifted out approx 500m minor contact with EASTER MALIA (G. Geran). EASTER MALIA raced greenly in straight. KELLINA BAY raced greenly in straight causing further inconvenience to GOLDEN BRIDGE, attention trainer. Routine swab winner MR. DICKENS. Time off 4.09 p.m.

RACE 2: JUST POTCH (D. Green) jumped in the air at the start. HOW’S THAT (N. Jolly) slow into stride. WHITE GOWN (L. Hill) jumped out minor contact ROSE OF GLADFIELD (App J. Baker). WHITE GOWN ducked out sharply shortly after the start, raced greenly to approx 800m. JUST POTCH (D. Green) raced greenly early stages of race. MIGHTY RUSH (A. Gillett) raced greenly inside and behind RESPECT THE FLUSH (M. Aspinall) at approx 800m. Routine swab winner BEAU SAW. Time off 4.47 p.m.

RACE 3: Connections of BALALAIKA BABE advised they would instruct jockey B. Powell not to use the whip and to endeavour to ride the mare hands and heels only, record noted. SOPHIE’S GOLD (G. Lynch) dismounted to load. SERENE ELEGANCE (D. Green) restless, slow into stride. DUSTY’S SHOUT (R. Goltz) raced keenly, eased from the heels of runners in front at approx the 600m and in doing so eased out coming into minor contact with CRITIZE (G. Geran). DUSTY’S SHOUT unable to secure a clear passage from approx the 500m to approx 300m. At approx the 300m SERENE ELEGANCE (D. Green) shifted out and at the same time MISS KELLY (G. Whybrow) rolled in and in doing so caused CLEAR RUN (L. Hill) to strike the heels of MISS KELLY (G. Whybrow) and blunder. All riders shown patrol film of the incident and reminded of their responsibilities. CLEAR RUN raced ungenerously down straight, attention trainer. At approx the 100m CRITIZE shifted in minor contact with MANDY’S CHARM (App. J. Baker). Routine investigation into the disappointing performance of BISITA (App K. Banks) revealed the mare was forced to race in the lead approx 3 wide throughout and despite every effort by the rider failed to run on, record noted. RASHIKA (A. Lane) appeared short in its action on returning to scale, Veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities. Routine swab winner SOPHIE’S GOLD. Time off 5.25 p.m.


RACE 4: Jockey S. Katsidis failed to arrive by appointed time from another venue replaced by D. Green (MR. LAWSON). Connections of SHY NICK advised they intended to instruct the jockey not to use the whip and endeavour to ride gelding hands and heels only, record noted. DIRECTOR’S SPECIAL (S. Killen) little slow into stride. GORGEOUS GEORGE (N. Jolly) slipped behind and blundered at the start losing considerable ground. Jockey G Geran (HEY BUSTER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding when at approx the 1000m shifted in when insufficiently clear of SHY NICK (App K. Banks) forcing that horse in and in doing so clipped the heels of VA BENE (R. Goltz) and blunder shifting inward causing MR. LAWSON (D. Green) to clip the heels of SHY NICK blunder and almost fall, losing considerable ground. Jockey Geran was suspended from riding in races commencing midnight June 26, 1999 up to and including July 11, 1999 a period of 10 meetings. At approx the 450m SEYMOUR (A. Gillett) steadied from the heels of PUMPY (C. Kearney) which had angled out away from the heels of SHY NICK. Both riders shown patrol film of the incident, reminded of responsibilities, no further action. At approx the 350m SHY NICK which was tiring rolled in causing tightening to PAPER RUN (L. Hill) shifted out causing GORGEOUS GEORGE (App N. Jolly) to ease, straightened then rolled back in causing further tightening to PAPER RUN (L. Hill). All riders shown patrol film of the incident, and apart from being reminded of their responsibilities no further action. MR. LAWSON (D. Green) returned to scale with a laceration to the off fore fetlock. SHY NICK returned to scale with laceration to front of near hind fetlock, Veterinary inspection. Jockey D Green reported his neck was sore following the incident in race 4. Routine swab winner DIRECTOR’S SPECIAL. Time off 6.00 p.m.

RACE 5: Minor delay when 1 cup blinker on STRIKES TWICE came off, unable to be re-fitted. Trainer J. Wallace was issued a warning concerning the condition of the gear. FELTON FLYER (A. Lane) jumped with its head in the air, minor contact with CELESTIAL BEAT (R. Goltz) shortly after the start. BIG GEOFFREY (App K. Banks) shifted toward the fence shortly after the start and in doing so caused inconvenience to FELTON FLYER. ACENCO (G. Geran) raced fiercely and at approx the 500m shifted out away from the heels of STRIKERS TWICE (App J. Baker) and in doing so forced FELTON FLYER to race wide. CELESTIAL BEAT was held up for run down straight, shifted out final 50m minor contact with ACENCO. Routine swab winner BIG GEOFFREY. Time off 6.36 p.m.

RACE 6: Connections of RED VEST advised the gelding had been leading in his races however they intended to instruct the jockey to endeavour to ride the horse quietly from behind. MIGHTY RED (G. Whybrow) fractious in the stalls. LUCKY LOVE (A. Gillett) slow into stride, cut out when ALLEZ ALO’S (App N. Jolly) jumped in coming into contact with SENDEVE (R. Barone) forcing that horse across the heels of runners in front. At approx the 350m LUCKY LOVE rolled in causing inconvenience to MIGHTY RED. Approaching the 350m RED VEST (D. Tarrant) rolled in causing SENOR GO (M. Aspinall) to ease. SEND A ROCKET (B. Appo) buffeted between LUCKY LOVE and BRAVE DASH (App J. Baker) down straight. Winner NANATAN (R. Goltz) returned to scale in a fatigued state, routine Veterinary inspection. Routine swab winner NANATAN. Time off 7.15 p.m.
RACE 7: Trainer D. Bougoure $50 late declareation of rider. ROCKET CHARGE (App K. Banks) reluctant to load, jumped awkwardly striking the outside gate, attention trainer. ROCKY’S KINGDOM (W. Glass) jumped out taking ROCKY COLOURS (M. Aspinall) out onto GOLD NIB (L. Karklis) and at the same time DOUBLE KINGDOM (S. Killen) jumped in causing ASTUTE BAMBINO (G. Geran) to be cut out. CARBON SHADOW (R. Goltz) raced fiercely along the back section. FRONT ROW (L. Francis) rolled in causing tightening to ASTUTE BAMBINO (G. Geran) . FRONT ROW shifted out approx 700m forcing ROCKET CHARGE to race wide. ROCKY’S KINGDOM drifted out under pressure down straight, then rolled inward crowding ROCKY COLOURS, Jockey W Glass was issued with a warning. CARBON SHADOW was held up for run approaching home turn. Routine swab winner DOUBLE KINGDOM. Time off 7.56 p.m.

RACE 8: App A. Merritt unable to fulfil engagement due to transport breakdown, replaced by App L. Cronin (DASHING AWAY). SENDETTE (R. Goltz) jumped out causing crowding to outside runners. MEREILA (P. Gesler) drifted out down straight, no inconvenience. PLENTIFUL (G. Whybrow) finished a distant last after leading to approx the 400m. Jockey Whybrow felt horse was distressed, trainer advised the filly is to be scoped with a Veterinary certificate prior to next racing. Routine swab winner DASHING AWAY. Time off 8.34 p.m.

GENERAL: Re convened inquiry from Warwick Turf Club June 19, 1999. Apprentice A. Morrison was found guilty of a breach of LR 51(1) for refusing to fulfil commitments, charged and fined $250.
