RACE 1: HOW HIGH SIR (R Goltz) was reluctant to load. NOBLE JEWELS (D Green) was slow into stride. CLEAN FORGOT (A Gillett) stood when the gates opened and lost considerable ground. BIG ODDS (W Clasohm) raced ungenerously during the early stages of the race. Jockey W Clasohm (BIG ODDS) was reprimanded when he permitted his mount to roll inward at approx the 500m inconveniencing NOBLE JEWELS, which in turn hampered HOW HIGH SIR. Stewards heard a minor protest 3rd (D Green, NOBLE JEWELS) against 2nd (R Goltz, HOW HIGH SIR) for alleged interference at the 400m. After taking evidence from all parties the protest was dismissed and placing stood. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey R Goltz was cautioned when it was found his mount had shifted off at approx the 400m dictating NOBLE JEWELS out across the heels of BIG ODDS in doing so hampered CLEAN FORGOT which was losing ground, no further action taken. Stewards questioned jockey A Gillett (CLEAN FORGET) concerning the disappointing performance of the favourite. He stated the gelding refused to jumped when the gates opened then when ridden hard early was inclined to hang outward rounding the 800m turn at which time he decided to go forward around the small field and then was under pressure at the 500m. confirmed on viewing the patrol films. Stewards ordered a veterinary inspection of the gelding, which found an abnormality in its heart rate. Connections advised the gelding must pass an official barrier trial and ECG prior to its next start. Time off 4.07pm.
RACE 2: STAR CONTRACT was withdrawn by Stewards acting on Vet’s advice at 2.44pm. Connections advised a Veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start. EMBEZZLED G Lynch) jumped outward and continued outward coming in contact with SNAADESIRE (J Warrington) which in turn shifted out at the same time GRAND ASPECT (R Goltz) jumped inward and continued inward inconveniencing CANADIAN ROCKIES (D Green) which was slow into stride, all rider shown the patrol film and advised to exercise more care. DOONSIDE BILL (App.N Tomizawa) blundered at the jump and was slow into stride. Time off 4.47pm.
RACE 3: GO BOY (M Aspinall) jumped outward coming in contact with RIOTCHEE (R Goltz). STRIKE FOREVER (A Pattillo) jumped awkwardly. Rounding the home turn PRIMARY MOTIVE (D Green) rolled inward crowding QUICK WHISKEY (App.N Tomizawa). Time off 5.20pm.
RACE 4: MY SWEET DARLING (A Lane) was extremely fractious in the barrier, then was slow into stride. At approx the 950m CHARIOT OF LOCKEY (App.K Banks) rolled inward striking the fence. VERSETIE (M Aspinall) was held up rounding the home turn behind PAN ZARETA (P Gesler). Time off 5.55pm.
RACE 5: EYEY SPY (M Cahill) jumped awkwardly inward hampering BELLE MURPHY (D Green). DYNAMIC REASON (M Lister) raced fiercely during the early stages of the race. Jockey B Stewart (DEVER’S GOLD) was reprimanded when he permitted his mount to shift inward and crowd MAGIC STEP (App. N Tomizawa), SHAHANE TARTAN (A Pattillo) and TOASTED GOLD (R Goltz) at approx the 1000m. Jockey A Gillett (CHOCKERS) was reprimanded when he eased his mount out and away from the heels of TOASTED GOLD in doing so made heavy contact with NOVA SERRURE (S Katsidis) at approx the 700m. Jockey A Pattillo (SHAHANE TARTAN) was reprimanded when permitted his mount to shift outward inconveniencing DEVER’S GOLD, which was losing ground, at approx the 200m. Time 6.36pm.
RACE 6: BEYONDA (B Appo) jumped awkwardly. Jockey A Gillett (HOT PROMISE) was cautioned when he eased his mount shortly after reaching the lead at approx the 1000m, in do so hampered PARIS COUNSUL (App.C Maund) causing it to race fiercely and roll inward inconveniencing NOBLE UNIVERSE (R Goltz) which dipped and become unbalanced as it was also racing fiercely at the time with its head in the air whilst being restrained. NOBLE UNIVERSE continued to race fiercely to approx the 400m, attention trainer. GO GOLLY (App.S Warren) rolled inward coming in contact with the hindquarters of PADDY DAPPER (M Aspinall) at approx the 1000m. SHOWDOWN LAD (G Lynch) rolled outward on straightening hampering JOSEPHENE (D Green). Over the concluding stages of the race JOSEPHENE layed inward under pressure crowding SHOWDOWN LAD. Time off 7.15pm
RACE 7: SCALATRICE (M Aspinall) was fractious in the barrier sitting down in the gates, warning. LUSKIN GOLD (J Warrington) jumped awkwardly. PSYCHIC KELLINA (App.J Baker) jumped on terms but was slow into stride. Time off 7.56pm
ADDENDM: Stewards oped an inquiry on Tuesday the 18 January 2000 into and incident during the pull up following the running of Race 6 at the Toowoomba Turf Club meeting on the 15 January 2000. Jockey G Lynch (SHOWDOWN LAD) was charged under ARR 83 (a) with misconduct when he in a deliberate manner steered his mount into the path of JOSEPHENE (D Green) making heavy contact with and caused it to be checked. After being found guilty was suspended from riding in races from midnight the 23 January 2000 up to and including the 23 March 2000 a period of 2 calendar months
