RACE: 1. Auld Hat (J Noske) was slowly away. Royal Sea (M Aspinall) and Matty’s Girl (C Maund) made contact shortly after the start. Shortly after Matty’s Girl, which was taken in by Talbingo Lad (D Green) made heavy contact with the hindquarters of Royal Sea. D Green was subsequently reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in. Approaching the 800 metres Ceres (G Geran) which was racing keenly shifted in momentarily crowding Auld Hat. Matty’s Girl hung out from the 800 metres until the early stages of the home straight. Ceres returned to scale with its tongue over the bit. Time off 4.17 PM.
RACE: 2. The track was upgraded too dead at 4.23 PM. At the start Brock’s Mate (J Baker), Strictly Noble (M Aspinall) and Pedro’s Express ( L Francis) were hampered between Might Be Gold (G Lynch) which jumped out and Tellurian (L Karklis) which jumped in. Cleo’s Chariot (S Warren) threw its head as the gates opened, losing ground. Approaching the home turn Brock’s Mate which raced greenly throughout rolled in coming into contact with Adele Louise (J Noske). Near the 300 metres Cleo’s Chariot shifted out coming into contact with the hindquarters of Strictly Noble. Approaching the finish Cleo’s Chariot rolled out marginally and clipped the heels of Tellurian and blundered. Might Be Gold shifted out over the concluding stages. Pedro’s Express raced wide in the early and middle stages. Time off 5.00 PM.
RACE: 3. M’Lady Scholar (G Geran) and Forever Racing (K Banks) were slowly away. City Mission (J Baker) jumped out. Near the 1600 metres City Mission was crowded for room by Forever Racing which rolled in. Shortly after Forever Racing and City Mission were crowded by Handsome Creole (A Parramore) which shifted in. Allez Jagaan (L Deguara) made the crossing awkwardly. Grisma (M Aspinall) was hampered over the concluding stages by City Mission which shifted out under pressure. J Baker was advised that he is obliged to stop riding his mount when it is shifting ground and hampering another runner. Time 5.35 PM.
RACE: 4. K Waller who failed to arrive on course by the required time was replaced by G Lynch on Buck’s Lad. Stewards accepted the explanation of K Waller. Miss Nancy (S Warren) jumped out coming into contact with Emma’s Lodge (M Aspinall). Moet Miss (D Green) was very fractious in the barriers. Buck’s Lad and To The Life Boats (G Geran) were slowly away. Leaving the 1100 metres Machtig Mihi Panis (L Deguara) got its head up for some distance whilst being eased. Miss Nancy laid in once placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned about the disappointing performance of Emma’s Lodge Jockey M Aspinall stated that he was forced to travel wide in the middle stages and once he placed his mount under pressure approaching the home turn it weakened quickly, explanation noted. When questioned about performance of Buck’s Lad Jockey G Lynch stated that at no stage did his mount appear to be interested in racing, explanation noted. A Veterinary inspection of both horses failed to reveal any apparent abnormality. Time off 6.15 PM.
RACE: 5. Hot Chance (J Graham) jumped awkwardly. Winnezzar (J Noske) slipped badly on jumping, losing ground. Near the 900 metres Aussie Morning (K Banks) made contact with the hinquarters of Hot Chance which shifted out. Approaching the 800 metres Winnezzar was momentarily crowded by Roving Minstrel (G Geran). Winnezzar was disappointed for a run in the early stages of the home straight. Approaching the 100 metres Hot Chance shifted in coming into contact with Rashika (D Green). Shortly after Hot Chance shifted back out and brushed Roving Minstrel. Two pieces of packing was lost from under the saddle on Hail Rocket (M Sharpley) during running. Although M Sharpley weighed in marginally under weight he was within the allowable under weight in terms of AR143 and correct weight was declared. When questioned M Sharpley stated that he was satisfied how the horse was saddled and the only reason he could give why he lost the gear was that the saddle shifted back during running. Stewards inquired into the reason Winnezzar lost ground near the 550 metres. After taking evidence from riders J Noske (Winnezzar), G Geran (Roving Minstrel) and M Sharpley (Hail Rocket). It was established that Winnezzar which was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of Roving Minstrel dipped and then shifted in and away from Roving Minstrel and made heavy contact with the running rail. Winnezzar then bounced off the fence and made contact with the hindquarters of Roving Minstrel. Aussie Morning which was racing to the outside of Roving Minstrel’s heels was steadied. No further action. Time off 6.57 PM.

Shortly after the start Sirlava (A Parramore) was eased from the heels of Vain Halo (L Francis) which shifted in. Sirlava then raced ungenerously for some distance whilst being eased. L Francis was subsequently reprimanded and advised to give more room when she is crossing. Always Gold (G Lynch) raced ungenerously in the early stages. Approaching the 100 metres Always Gold was taken in by Awedad (W Cook) which shifted in. Time off 7.36 PM.
