RACE 1: Sand Shareef (S. Shield) was reluctant to load at the start. Proud Ascot (L. Morrison) blundered at the start. Sovereign Gem (B. Compton) which underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start and was declared fit to run. Tiger Yeats (R. Pitman) rolled in at approx. the 1350m crowding Sand Shareef. Tiger Yeats had to be eased off Proud Ascot at approx 1200m when the pace steadied. App L Morrison (Proud Ascot) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding when her mount shifted outward when insufficiently clear of Kwila Star at approx the 100m. App.L Morrison was suspended from riding in races from midnight the 29/3/01 up to and including the 11/3/01 (8 meetings). Time off 4.12pm.
RACE 2: Tr Hayes requested permission from the stewards to instruct R. Goltz (Vermilion Fire) to ride his mount quietly in the early stages, granted. B. Appo replaced J. Hoopert (Sea Missy). Rum Runner (P. Wolfgram) was reluctant to load. Puratar (B. Swanton) jumped awkwardly outward hampering Dazzling Chariot (G. Lynch) with both being slow in to stride. Rip Woodchip (R. Pittman) jumped awkwardly in and then was held up over the concluding stages of the race behind Rum Runner. Approaching the 800m Dokic (A. Parramore) rolled outward hampering Sheddad Magic (G. Geran) causing Shedaddles (B. Compton) to steady. On returning to scale Dokic underwent veterinary examination which found a laceration to the off hind leg and a split off hind racing plate. On returning to scale Puratar under went a veterinary examination which found the gelding to be shin sore. Connections advised the gelding must have a veterinary certificate prior to its next start. Time off 4.50pm.
RACE 3: Crimson And Gold (G.Lynch) and Chariot’s Isle (L. Morrison) jumped awkwardly coming into contact with each other. Adele Louise (A. Parramore) jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Paltrow (P. Wolfgram) was fractious in the barrier. Approaching the 1100m La Hula Belle raced ungenerously getting its head up in the air when being steadied off the heels of Crimson And Gold. At approx the 900m whilst hanging outward Paltrow made heavy contact with La Hula Belle which was buffeted between Chariot’s Isle (L Morrison). At approx. 550m Adele Louise rolled inward at the same time Paltrow continued to hang outward crowding Singing Victory (M Gray) which had to be steadied. Paltrow continued to hang outward and was pulled up during running on returning to scale underwent a veterinary examination which found no abnormalities, connections were advised the filly must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next start. Time off 5.25pm.
RACE 4: Havoc (S. Shield) jumped in at the start hampering Pan Zareta (W.Glass). Star Master (A. Parramore) whilst hanging out got its head in the air. Approaching the 800m Eureka Flight (W. Orbell) was inclined to lay out making contact with Sir Raimando (J. Warrington) which in turn brushed Star Master which continued to race awkwardly. Jockey W. Glass (Pan Zareta) was reprimanded when his mount shifted inward whilst racing keenly crowding Dame Lottie (D Green) at approx. 800m. Jockey W Glass (Pan Zareta) was cautioned when his mount rolled inward at approx the 350m hampering Wendy’s Hope (R Goltz). Havoc (S Shield) at approx 200m rolled in hampering Pan Zareta. Eureka Flight raced ungenerously when it resented being hit with the whip in the straight. Stewards questioned Trainer J Dorrington (Forest Sprite) concerning the gelding improved performance, Mrs Dorrington advised she had treated the gelding with laser and muscle massage during the previous week. Mrs Dorrington was fined $100 for failing to advise the Stewards of the treatment of AR 140(a). Time off 6.05pm.
RACE 5: French Movie Star (G. Palmer) and Niagara (A.Parramore) were both restless in the barrier and were slow into stride. Maltese Fair (B. Compton) jumped awkwardly. Violent (G. Lynch) was slow into stride. Hula City (K. Pope) dipped crossing the 1400m crossing. Ned’s Revenge (R Pittman) was held up behind Niagara rounding the home turn. Approaching the 400m Shahne Tartan (G Geran) whilst being held up for a run inside Karen’s Way (P Wolfgram) had to checked of the heels Maltese Fair. Tsar Ruler (B. Swanton) raced wide throughout. Time off 6.37pm.
RACE 6: Serrated (G. Geran) was slow into stride. Adaway (S. Shield) was fractious in the barrier. At approx 1200m Mere Words (B. Appo) rolled inward hampering Adaway. Crown Star (B. Swanton) raced fiercely hanging inward in the back straight. Serrated (G. Geran) rolled inward whilst going forward hampering Lima Jewel (P.Wolfgram). Rounding the home turn Broket (B Compton) whilst losing ground hampered Adaway. Shortly after the finish post Serrated rolled inward at the same time Shellharbour Lady (J Warrington) rolled outward inconveniencing Mere Words and Night Formation (L Roberts), both riders advised to exercise more care. Time off 7.12pm.
RACE 7: Good Guy (R.Morris) jumped out at the start hampering Doonside Bill (N Spencer) shifted back in coming in contact with Nictom (A.Parramore). Heroic Duty (R. Goltz) rolled in at approx. 800m crowding Good Guy. Nathan Citadel (S Shield) jumped inward inconveniencing Snow Star (L Appo). Good Guy whilst racing greenly rolled inward at approx the 700m coming in contact with Nictom. Jockey S Shield (Nathan Citadel) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding when his mount shifted inward at approx the 100m when insufficiently clear of Nictom which went inward making heavy contact with Petit Poucet (P Wolfgram) with both runners being checked. Jockey S Shield was suspended from riding in races from midnight the 27/3/01 up to and including the 7/4/01 (8 meetings).
