High Kwila was slowly away. Approaching the home turn Canterina was taken wide by Silken Tangles, which laid out in the early and middle stages. Balomois drifted out over the concluding stages. Time off 4.46pm.

She’s A Taan, which was standing awkwardly jumped with its head in the air losing ground. Shortly after She’s A Taan dipped on two occasions. Leaving the 400 meters She’s A Taan was held up for clear running for some distance. Approaching the 100 meters Rocket Dancer was eased when crowded for room between She’s A Taan and Belle Of Sheba (A Parramore) which shifted in. A Parramore was reminded of his responsibilities when his mounts are shifting ground. Time off 5.20pm.
RACE: 4. Chaimani Mani and Style Queen were slowly away. Midnight Seas, which jumped awkwardly, was held for clear running leaving the 400 meters. Stoddart, which was over – racing in the early stages shifted out approaching the 800 meters forcing Naroo wider on the track. Rounding the home turn The Apache Kid was taken wide by Our Proud Tiger, which hung out from the 450 meters. Approaching the 200 meters Our Proud Tiger shifted out causing minor inconvenience to The Apache Kid. Midnight Seas (K Yoshida) hung in for the entire length of the home straight, resulting in K Yoshida being unable to fully test his mount. On the home turn Naroo forced Style Queen wider on the track. On returning to scale Jockey B Swanton rider of the 5th horse The Apache Kid Lodged an objection against Our Proud Tiger (L Morrison) being declare 3rd for grounds of alleged interference on the home turn and down the home straight. After hearing evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the patrol film. Stewards dismissed the objection, as they believed the degree of interference caused by Our Proud Tiger was minimal and made no difference to the placings. Time off 5.55pm.
RACE: 5. Leaving the 400 meters Star Gambler got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of Hydro’s Boy. Approaching the home turn Magnetic Mayor was eased from the heels of Proud Ascot. On the home turn Great Expectations shifted out and made contact with Lord Kwila. Shortly after Great Expectations made contact with Pinball Wizard. On returning to scale Jockey G Geran rider of the 4th horse Star Gambler lodged an objection against Master Tommy (D Green) being declared the winner for alleged grounds of interference leaving the 150 meters. After hearing evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the patrol film it was established that leaving the 150 meters Master Tommy shifted in which resulted in Star Gambler being severely checked, losing all momentum at a crucial position in the race. Stewards upheld the objection as they were of the opinion that leading up to the incident Star Gambler whilst going forward strongly was taking ground off Master Tommy. Stewards amended the placings to 1st (Pinball Wizard), 2nd (Great Expectations), 3rd (Star Gambler), 4th (Master Tommy), 5th (Watsford’s Gold). Jockey D Green was subsequently found guilty of a careless riding charge in that leaving the 150 meters he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Star Gambler, resulting in that horse being severely checked. D Green was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to take affect as of mid – night 9/06/01 and to expire at mid – night 20/06/01. Time off 6.30pm.
