Trainer K T Webb was fined the sum of $50 for nominating Ours for a Class 4 Handicap a race that the horse was ineligible for.

RACE: 1. R. Goltz (Avan Ranch) replaced N. Evans who failed to arrive on course by the required time. Stewards subsequently accepted the explanation of N. Evans. SPLENDID SCORE, which was slowly away, got its head in the air leaving the 850m when being steadied. SPLENDID SCORE made the 550m turn awkwardly. App L. Morrison pleaded guilty to a breach of AR118 C in that when weighing out to ride MOTH BALL a starter in the Class 4 Handicap she weighed out without her safety vest with full intention of deceiving the clerk of scales to enable her to claim her 3 kgs. Allowance. L Morrison was subsequently fined the sum of $1000.00 Time off 3.57 p.m.

RACE: 2. GOLDEN VISTA jumped out making contact with the gate. CHARIOT LA BRONTE jumped out across RICHESSE who was slowly away. Near the 1200m GOLDEN VISTA was taken wider on the track by CHARIOT LA BRONTE, which shifted out whilst being eased from the heels of BRIDAL WARRIOR. On returning to scale Jockey R Goltz rider of the 2nd horse CLASSIC FRONTIER and Jockey G Lynch rider of the 3rd horse RICHESSE both lodged and objection against GOLDEN VISTA (C Spry) being declared the winner for grounds of alleged interference over the last 100 m. After taking evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the patrol film, it was established that the main interference occurred over the last 20m. and taking into account the winning margin of ¾ of a length and where the incident occurred Stewards dismissed both objections. At a subsequent inquiry App C. Spry was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that he permitted his mount to shift in over the concluding stages when insufficiently clear, resulting in both RICHESSE and CLASSIC FRONTIER being severely buffeted. C Spry was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to take effect as of mid – night 26-09-01 and to expire at mid – night 7-10-01. Time off 4.39 p.m.

RACE: 3. TRINEWAL, CHANTAL PARK and ALIANA JOY all slowly away.

Warrington charged with careless riding and suspended for a period of eight meetings from midnight September 25, 2001 up to and including midnight October 7, 2001 for permitting his mount SMOKE JENSEN to shift in nearing the 1000m forcing QUEUE TO FLY to check and shift in onto DESHANE which in turn shifted in onto IDRIS. Time off 5.19 p.m.

RACE: 4. VACEN LEE slowly away. GORILLA’S GALORE jumped in the air. PEARL STAR jumped outwards. Nearing the 850m YUKMARR and PEARL STAR came into minor contact. Routine investigation into the disappointing performance of favorite YUKMARR revealed the gelding was forced to race wide throughout, however when asked for an effort failed to respond.
