RACE 1: EMS & HAMISH MAIDEN H'CAP – 1021M.
OUR FRAN, which had a high temperature was withdrawn by stewards at 12.35 pm.
On jumping CARRISSIMA made heavy contact with GOLD AMBER.
Shortly after the start PLACID GLOW was eased when crowded for room between GOLD AMBER and HEY LASS.
Near the 750m NOLA’S DREAM lost ground when tightened for room by GOLD AMBER, which was taken in by HEY LASS, which was taken in by OUR JUGGERNAUT, which shifted in after making contact with CARRISSIMA.
CARRISSIMA got its tongue over the bit during running.
Apprentice N Evans was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that approaching the 600m he permitted his mount OUR JUGGERNAUT to shift in when insufficiently clear of HEY LASS, which was taken in tightening the running of GOLD AMBER, resulting in GOLD AMBER making contact with the running rail and blundering when striking the heels of HEY LASS. HEY LASS was severely hampered in the incident. N Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period of 9 meetings to take affect as of mid – night 23-01-02 and to expire at mid – night 5-02-01.

RACE 2: MR K’S RESTAURANT CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1122M.
On jumping BRODIE’S ROSE was hampered by TRUE REFLECTION, which jumped out.
JUST SCRUMPTIOUS and FLASH TOUCH made heavy contact on jumping.
INDIAN EXPRESS got its head up in the early stages whilst being eased.
Leaving the 800m FLASH TOUCH, which was pulling hard shifted out to avoid the heels of MONT VUE DAWN.
Rounding the home turn DUNBAR was taken wide by TRUE REFLECTION, which hung out from the 400m.
Leaving the 100m LORD KWILA was taken in by MISS SEQUALO (A Parramore), resulting in LORD KWILA racing in restricted room over the concluding stages. A Parramore was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.
MONT VUE DAWN raced wide throughout.
Winner TRUE REFLECTION was very lame in the near fore on returning to the tie up stalls. Trainer O. Lewis was advised a Veterinary certificate of soundness was required prior to the gelding’s next start.
Time off 4.45 pm.
RACE 3: RADIO RENTALS 131 181 CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1222M.
ENYIA CARRATE lost ground when jumping awkwardly.
Leaving the 800m HAVOC was eased from the heels of BUSH POTENTIAL (S Gaffaney), which shifted in. S Gaffaney was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift ground when not clear to do so.
HOW HIGH SIR, which was following got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of HAVOC.
Leaving the 800m ENYIA CARRATE was eased from the heels of HOW HIGH SIR.
Approaching the 750m MAGIC WATERS, which shifted in made contact with HOW HIGH SIR.
ALL NATIVE raced wide in the middle stages.
Approaching the 50m HOW HIGH SIR was steadied and obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.
Time off 5.20 pm.
RACE 4: CFM GOOD TIMES CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1122M.
J. Warrington (NASA ROYALE) replaced P Clarke who was injured in a race fall at the Bell meeting.
MAGADI lost ground when jumping awkwardly.
Shortly after the start MANA got its head up whilst being eased when crowded for room between NASA ROYALE, which shifted out and SUDDEN TREASURE.
Approaching the 800m YOGI’S EDITION was eased when crowded for room by SUDDEN TREASURE, which shifted in whilst lying in.
FIRES OF IRELAND raced wide throughout.
Jockey D Craven was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount SUDDEN TREASURE from shifting in when insufficiently clear of YOGI’S EDITION causing that horse to shift in tightening the running of MAGADI, resulting in MAGADI striking the running rail and being severely checked. YOGI’S EDITION was severely hampered in the incident. D Craven was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to take affect as of mid – night 22-01-02 and to expire at mid – night 31-01-02.

RACE 5: SUBWAY CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1635M.
FLASH FRED and HISTORICAL were slowly away.
AWESOME DATE, which was fractious in the barrier raced keenly for the first 800m.
HEART OF LIGHT raced keenly in the early stages.
Rounding the home turn TOUCH OF SANITY was forced wider on the track by HEART OF LIGHT, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
Time off 6.34 pm.
RACE 6: SHAMROCK HOTEL MOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1323M.
S Apthorpe (ZEPHYR ROYAL) replaced B Appo who was indisposed after riding at the Bell meeting.
On jumping TUCKERMAN was hampered by FLASHING JACK, which was taken out by TOFU.
Approaching the 800m TUCKERMAN eased from the heels of FLASHING JACK.
PINK PONTIAC, which hung out throughout raced wide for the last 800m. Trainer D. Duke was advised that a warning was being placed on PINK PONTIAC.
Near the 500m PLAYFUL SPIRIT was eased from the heels of FLASHING JACK (G Geran), which shifted out to obtain clear running. G Geran was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.
Leaving the 400m DUSTY ANNE, which shifted out to obtain clear running made contact with MAJESTIC VISTA.
Trainer B Russell was advised that a bar from racing at TAB meetings would be imposed on ZEPHYR ROYAL unless it showed a marked improvement at its next start.
Time off 7.12 pm.
RACE 7: CFM GREAT MUSIC MAIDEN H'CAP – 1323M.
Trainer G Banks was reprimanded for not having HOW NEAT on course by the required time.
BALMERAJ was slowly away.
MISS ENTREVEAUX, which was slowly away, raced ungenerously in the early stages and was subsequently retired from the race at the 800m. When questioned apprentice N Evans was of the belief that the filly resented the bit she had on. N Evans also stated that he had been riding the filly work and had advised trainer R Lipp that the filly was resenting the bit, explanation noted. Trainer R Lipp was advised that the filly was required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next start.
Approaching the 850m ROSEBERTH ROAD got its head up whilst being eased.
FRENETIQUE DANCER was inclined to race ungenerously rounding the 800m turn.
Approaching the 100m FRENETIQUE DANCER was steadied when PLUSH SPLENDOUR shifted in.
A Veterinary inspection of ROSEBERT ROAD, which weakened over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.
Time off 7.50 pm.
All winners were swabbed.
A pre race blood sample was taken from all starters.
